(2209) Autumn Coronation

Spotting Summer Berry , a huge smile appears on her face, “Excuse me a moment.” She says to Sonnie and Talia, and makes her way over to the new Spring. The painted picture on her dress moving as the moonlight seems to illuminate the scene, her wedding ring bursting into blossom, becoming a jeweled flower in scarlet on a band of gold.

“Summer!” greeted the Nix, “So glad you could make it!” and she seemed truly happy to see her.

“Before I introduce you to some of the other Springs, and the Dread Lord if you like, you do need to follow me and simply interact with the Wyrdstone.” Sera will lead Summer over to the stone, “This is the Wyrdstone. Ever since I’ve been in the Freehold, a Freehold wide Oath has had trouble sticking. You can say the words, but they don’t bind. So we learned of this,” a gesture to the stone, “and got it. All you have to do is expend a bit of your Glamour when you touch it. I assure you; it won’t hurt you; it just seems to absorb the Glamour and provide you with a sense of,” pausing, “belonging. It also lets the Freehold know that you are not a threat, a Loyalist or Privateers. We cannot be too careful and this is an added sense of security.” Sapphires look to Summer “Do you have any questions about it?”

"Um... since it's called a Wyrdstone... is made of Wyrd? Or made of something else?" Summer asked as she looked at it with a look of confusion. "What else does it do? Does it... make it like an Oath without making it an actual Oath?" She looked at it hesitantly, but was already reaching out to touch the stone.

[Seraphina]

“One would think, but no. It’s actually mined from the petrified cadaver of a great dragon.” A bit shocking, maybe. But, it was the truth. “What it does is what I said it does. It binds the Freehold together without an Oath, it tells us that none who are here are Loyalists or Privateers. It gives you, as well as the rest of us, a sense of belonging, lets us know we can trust you. Everyone here has placed their own Glamour into it. Once you do, there will be no need to do so again. Come Spring, I will place my own into to bind our Court to the Freehold.” Then a reassuring smile, “It’s a bit unconventional, but I can talk with you more about why we have this and not a Freehold Oath later if you like.” Then a nod, “It makes it an Oath without an actual Oath.” She sounded like she got it.

"Oh... okay. That makes sense." Summer put her hand on the Wyrdstone and nudged her Glamour into it, looking nervous. While she trusted Seraphina, it was still rather unconventional.

[Seraphina]

And there it was, the faint, but palpable since of trust. More than just the brief Pledge they had shared.

Smiling, “Welcome to Sacramento Summer.” Obviously happy and excited. “Did you want to meet some of the other Springs? Or walk around and be left alone?” not her favorite option, but she would respect whatever was decided. “Or something else! It’s up to you.”

"Yay! A new Spring!" Sonnie yelled excitedly, then immediately quieted down when she remembered where they were. Amusedly chagrined, the Monkey laughed and walked over to Seraphina and her fellow Beast. She wasn't going to wait to be introduced. "Your name is Summer? I'm Sonnie, nice to meet ya!"

Summer presses her Glamour to the Wyrdstone and joins in on the background hum or home-safety-trust.

Seraphina 's smile draws Rhodes out of his reverie, the chilling mantle heralding the tall Flowering elf's arrival. He looks at his wife and the new Changeling touching the Wyrdstone.

"A heart, technically - or at least, a part of one." His voice rumbles deeply, his emerald eyes watching Summer Berry intently until he can sense the thread of assurance connecting them. There was an anxiety there he could not hep but to play to. "My research points to the highly transient nature of the changelings passing through Sacramento disrupting the parts of the Wyrd that form permanent bonds on more than a motley level." Sera is given an amused smile. "I am Rhodes. Dread Lord of Autumn and Director of the Freehold," he announces by way of introduction. "And who might you be?"

His Mantle blusters up a whirling colour of autumn leaves in a chill breeze.

[Summer Berry]

"I... I'm... I'm Summer. Um... sir. Um..." Summer was stuttering for a good moment, not sure how to reply. "I... uh... um... how do you want me to address you, sir?"

[Seraphina]

There was a nod, “Sonnie, this is indeed Summer.” Looking to Summer, “And this is the infamous Claviger, Sonnie Wu, the one I was telling you was the expert of Kung Fu and one of the best teachers around.” Because she figured Summer would be too shy to ask about the Kung Fu.

It was still odd to hear his deep voice, and yet amazing how the Wyrd changes things.

Dipping into a curtsy as he introduced himself, deciding to let Summer navigate this one on her own.

And she does, in her own way. Sapphires watch with amusement, always finding it interesting how each Lost reacts to meeting Rhodes.
