She follows her companion into a more secluded corner.
Greetings are exchanged with Cassandra and Gerrit, though the lack of James Turner 's presence was very odd. The Winter King was not one to spurn a coronation. It was concerning. Perhaps something to raise shortly. "And you, Circe," he inclines his head to the Summer Queen. "I never thought you as much of the reflective type and yet, here you are," long pale fingers gesturing to the dress.
Sonnie's grand announcement was pleasing.... up to a point. The comment of 'Peasents' earned the monkey a silent stare and a blast of icy breeze swirling around the Autumn Monarch, whispers hissing.
Still, he pushed past it in order to maintain the evening's general good humour. Strolling towards Seraphina, he offered the bouquet to the newly Coronated Queen. "For you, Lady Spring. May your desires be fulfilled as life returns to the world." As she took the flowers, he took her hand, kissing it with another slight bow. "You look beautiful as ever darling," he added quietly, in words meant only for her though keen ears were everywhere. Then again, people were already breaking off into their own groups, leaving him with his wife.
"I hope this means I'm allowed back inside the study?" the Flowering joked - Sera always wanted privacy while working on her dresses. "Tell me, have you seen John? I'm surprised he isn't here - not like him at all."
Her eyes fill with happiness as she watches the Tavern fill with friends from the Freehold. Their numbers were small, but they were strong and she wouldn’t trade them for anything.
A quiet chuckle as Sonnie did her thing. She loved that monkey.
Walking to the wall of champagne flutes, she picks one up the one decorated for Spring,
“Thank you all for coming and spending this evening with us. The Spring Court has spent months preparing for this evening and we hope you all enjoy yourselves!” A warm smile offered to each Lost there. “Spring is the promise that everything can begin again, and allows us to let go and embrace something new. Life is reawakening around us, showing us that we too, can reawaken and grow. Everything that died in Fall and Winter, is alive once again. Rebirth and growth are just a few of the things Spring is known for. Take the time to reflect and give yourself the chance to regrow and become who you want, who you envision yourself to be. Spring is seen as nature’s way of coaxing us to renew ourselves and initiate new projects and fresh ideas. So please, enjoy the warming of the weather and the regrowth of beautiful nature and what she has to offer!” raising her glass. “May Spring be fruitful and joyful for each of you!” she then walks over to the Wyrdstone and gently lays a hand on it, putting her Glamour into it, awakening it to Spring once again. The wedding ring already alive with the red bloom, standing out on her translucent hand.
Once she does, the Golden Antlers of her crown appear, reaching out while spring flowers, blush in color, blossomed beneath them. Emerald colored jewels could be see twinkling in the soft glow of the Taverns lights.
Spotting Rhodes walking towards her, she turned to give him her full attention, and accepts the beautiful flowers as well. Beaming, “They’re beautiful! Thank you, Dread Lord, you’re too kind.” Taking a moment to smell them before smile back to him and laughs, light and musical in sound, “Have you truly missed the study that much?” teased the Nix, “But yes, you’re allowed back in.” she was thankful he respected her space when it was time for Coronation. She always put everything into it, and he respected it.
Blinking in surprise, sapphires scan the room, a look of concern crossing her face, “No, I haven’t. Maybe he is simply running late?” which didn’t seem like the Darkling, but, you never know. “Have you asked Cassandra or Gerrit?” they would know more. Or maybe he didn’t want to worry them?
Rhodes was annoyed. Excellent! Always good to push the envelope a little. Her job as a trickster was complete! If only somebody paid her for these shenanigans.
Sonnie applauded happily for Seraphina as he queen addressed the freehold. She wondered briefly what it would be like to have the Antler Crown. Queen Sonnie? She'd look gooooood.
Now, however, it was time to grab some munchies from the food tables and play her part as Claviger. Nobody touches the Spring Monarch without the Beast's permission. Well, Rhodes could. She wasn't about to stop Sera's fiance, and she'd ticked him off enough for one evening.
With some goblin fruit in hand, Sonnie snacked and lurked around the Emerald Queen.
Seraphina enters and Cassandra can't help but be entirely drawn in. She looks glorious in everything that she does, practically at all times. There is a tinge of jealousy again, that want to be just as beautiful, as personable, as... everything.
Could always come home and be that perfect.
The intrusive voice and thought surprises her and she has to look over at Gerrit with a smile to shrug it off, "Thanks, Gerrit." She doesn't look overly concerned at the moment. No one is actually missing, which is a good thing. Though, she's missing John terribly at the moment. Just a few days and he'll be home.
"Give me a moment to deliver John's message."
She approaches Seraphina and Rhodes who are speaking then, "Happy Spring, Queen Seraphina!" She offers a very sweet smile, one that is genuine. Things have been joyous in her life as of late and it's hard not to express it, even when she can't really talk about it.
"I wanted to let you know that John can't be here tonight. He's got a friend he's been visiting in Seattle who is very sick. He sends his love and joy at the changing of seasons with you as Monarch." There is more she could say, more apology or more explanation, but she didn't want to go too deep into it. It's John's personal life, after all. That's more his job to share.
There is a twinge of paranoia that does seep into her a little bit. She's sharing why he's not home. No, no, she's his motley mate, that's practically her job to share. She hasn't been out and about much since they moved in together, maybe that's why she's feeling a little off.
"Well... more the company of one hiding away inside it," he chuckles. Now the coronation was happening there was a good six months before they would be kept separate by their regal preparations again. He shook his head. "Not yet, although..." Rhodes waves a hand towards the appraoching form of the Winter Thane.
"Cassandra, how charming to see you," he greeted her pleasently. He nodded along as she explained John's absence and shrugged. "Ah. Well. There we are. At least he was forthright enough to sent his apologies." He looks back to the Polychromatic. "You have answered something we were curious of. And how are you keeping, Cassandra?"
Gerrit was content with just paying his respect and being there - there were conversations happening around him but he wasn't in the mood for chit-chat. Even Colonel Worm's and Liam's implied invitation was passed. What gave the Stonebones a weird sense of elation was that, unlike a year ago, he chose to have it this way. He wasn't completely in Sorrow's clutches, nor was he overwhelmed by the large gathering.
It certainly helped that Seraphina pulled her punches this year. Sonnie's announcement was answered by a polite applause and he listened to this season's Monarch with silent appreciation. He was glad that there was no Glamour at work this year - Sera's beauty was therefore 'just' breath-taking instead of maddening. And her words were truly moving, too. Something about new beginnings struck a chord with Gerrit. He clapped again after the speech, appropriately more intense than for the Claviger.
"All right." He watched Cassandra talk to the other Monarchs, gauging their reaction. Cassandra was the Onyx Thane and it was well-known that the Winter Court was close with each other. Still, John not contacting Seraphina himself was.. careless. Maybe it was time their cover blew. A bitter, cold thought. He acknowledged it, but paid it no further mind. There was no risk of anyone finding out about his friends, not from such a trivial matter. And they deserve their happiness. Don't forget that part.
Apart from that? Gerrit continued his due attendance.
Sapphires watch Sonnie lurk and an arm was offered to the Beast, looking to hug her best friend, “You look amazing Sonnie!” she gushed. If Sonnie accepts the hug, “Thank you.” Sera whispers to her.
As Cassandra approaches, a happy smile appears, “Happy Spring Cassandra! I love that dress, it looks stunning on you!” and the Nix meant it. The Winter was skilled at picking out dresses that not only suited the theme, but high lightened her radiant beauty. “We should get together again soon.” That day spent with Cassandra had been wonderful.
Then a frown, “Oh, that’s too bad! I hope his friend is doing better, and I’ll keep them both in my thoughts. Thank you for letting us know, we were getting worried.” And that was the truth, it wasn’t like John to not be at a Coronation. “If Winter is ever in need while he is out of town, please let me know and Spring will be there.” Courts needed to support Courts.
“How have you been? Any shows coming up?” shifting the focus to Cassandra.
Smirking, “Oh, is that all? Well, I think we can get that taken care of.” It would be good to relax after all the months of planning and sewing.
"Aw, thank you! I like this dress a lot!"
Is there a world in which Sonnie would not accept a hug from her bestest friend forever? If it exists, she wouldn't want to be there. Thankfully, in this world, the Monkey happily accepted the hug. Happy little cartoon hearts might as well be floating around her head. Hugs were lovely!
"Anytime, bestie!" she answered Sera with a bright smile.
An idea struck her, and she looked excitedly at the Spring Queen, "Oh, Sera, want to see a trick? I've been saving this one! Check it!"
Sonnie stood back and focused. The other Changelings could feel the large amount of Glamour welling up and spilling over as the Beast called upon one of her newest Contracts. There was a whoosh of air rushing into to fill the suddenly vacant space around her as Sonnie shrunk down. There, sitting on the floor, was a rhesus monkey!
The small animal looked around, then grinned, flashing her large, sharp teeth, and made a very human bow as if to say 'ta-da!'
