She said exactly what was on her mind, without hesitation or giving the response much thought. "That secret is one better left between Janos and I." She said softly, with a wan smile.
She watched him a moment and smirked at his response which turned from vaguely playful to sharp in a matter of seconds. Her emotions churned at his response. It struck a chord with her harshly. It wouldn't have gotten to her perhaps if J.C was still with her. Losing him as an ally hurt more than Quinn cared to admit. She had literally trusted him with her life. She wanted to trust Connor but so far he had given her reasons not to. Red flags that the Shadow could not ignore, and nostalgia wouldn't soothe.
"And there it is..." She whispered dangerously. "You already did state you could do so. I admit, you make a compelling case. I can't say I have never lost my focus in court because I have, but this isn't the only time you have let your emotions best you. When we were in the Urn Garden for example, I thought you would get us all killed. We were outnumbered almost 2 to 1. It was not the appropriate time to ram your title up their collective ass."
There was also the bit with Jack and the First Estate. It was a pickle she feared there was no way out of except to remain neutral to all Covenants and Unaligned. Never having the full home she desired with the Kindred she felt the most respect for in the domain. Add in a healthy dose of Kindred paranoia and she was as testy as a dog shitting tacks.
