PrP Tunnel Trip: 2nd Tour

[Liam Gelt]

Liam spots the crack and adjusts his head lamp to focus on it. "Hey! I think I've found something." He sets the wheelbarrow down and strides over to take a closer look. He's certainly glad his comment didn't upset his Fairest companions, and he was especially grateful for their own special talents in healing and navigation to carry them through.

Liam doesn't say much in his examinations, though he does look briefly back to the concrete in the wheelbarrow. Maybe sealing up the crack will help dampen the smell at least.

[Circe]

Sorry Shenanigans. I thought I posted it in the last narration clearly, but I guess I misunderstood your message. Cassandra's map looks like it fills out the big empty space in Seraphina's map, based upon her roll. Id est, Cassandra knows where the river bends are in both maps, so she knows she has mapped an area not covered by Seraphina's findings. Cassandra can deduce which directions are more likely to link up to Sera's tunnels and knows better which direction leads towards the river or away from it. The two maps have no intersection because the Lost haven't explored that far yet.

Circe
"A hollowpoint's ricochet is about as dangerous as a wrist rocket slingshot," she tries to reassure Seraphina. It'd hurt, like a lot, but only dangerous if it got in the eyes. "I'm wearing a vest so just stand behind me if I shoot." Circe has actually walked ahead of the crack, so she turns back to look at it. Looking back and forth between the ongoing tunnel and the stench source, her head tilts so that her twitching right ear is towards the unexplored tunnel.


After a pause the elfin Fairest nods and joins the others at the, "Uuugh," that was a horrid smell. Upon getting at turn to look in the crevice, well she gags at the smell and steps back with a cough, "Who here put money on sewage? Ya won."

"Glad I'm not the only one ta wrap her hands around some pipes Liam. But Cass? I doubt even the Super Mario Brothers could fix this plumbing problem fer us," Circe tries to joke. This was probably the end point for plumbing, not a leak or something like that. "I think that is like a septic tank or something. End of the plumbing is what this is. If it was some kind of blockage, it'd still be coming in. Probably."

Nar:
Everyone realized how it overflowed. Either due to torrential rain seepage or flooding of the cesspool. Cesspools naturally seep away into the ground, so over saturation of the ground would have an easy way to seep up into and out via the cesspool. The crevice probably saved some fortunate home owners for not having their toilets run in reverse.


Cassandra, Liam, and Circe know that the best way to seal up the crevice would be to first clean up a lot of the shit from it. The concrete would work best without the rotting bio-matter to break down between it and the stone. They can either just fill it with concrete or use the slats on both ends to provide a frame. The slats in the crevice would have to be cut and it'd be annoying to get them in place though feasible.

The power washer needs to roll, either ranged attack or narrative at user's discretion. Building the inner slats would be Dexterity plus Crafts, whilst the rest would be either Intelligence or Strength plus Crafts for the concrete.

[Cassandra Reeding]

Cassandra grimaces a little and shakes her head, "Yeah, no. Not much beyond standard housework, and even then," She looks at the cesspit a little bit longer before sighing, "Okay. We've got a lot of work to get on." And she was looking forward to exactly none of it. But, the future benefits? Yes, that's what she was looking toward. It would be good for the Freehold to have this space to gather. It'll be more secure and the diverse possibilities for use are endless.


She marks a small slash on her map to denotate exactly where this pit is as well as looking at where it is on Sera's to mark for continued cross-reference. She was feeling good though. This shit, no pun intended, was here and needed to be taken care of, but once it is gone? Again, endless possibilities. Maybe even some coronations could be hosted here if need be. Would make for something interesting for sure.


She pulls up her sleeves and gets ready to work. Cassandra will help as much as she can with the cleaning and get on building the inner slats of the structure.

[Seraphina]

Turning to Liam, she follows him, eager to see what he found. Her nose scrunching under the mask. Ew.

“Did we want to fix whatever is causing the smell, or just shore it up?” she asks to no one in particular. “Shoring it up as benefits, but if don’t fix whatever cause the smell, wouldn’t it just build up? Is there any danger to not dealing with it?” she wanted to know the options.

“And yeah, fixing things around the house is not really my thing. So I’m of no help there.” She just called people to fix things.

Listening to Circe, there was a nod. Her questions still stood.

With Cassandra ready to get to work, Sera lends her skill to help the Winter built slats. Seems she had the answers to her questions there. They were going to deal with this.

Liam thinks about the smell question. "Maybe more of that lavender stuff? Getting rid of the matter would certainly go a long way."

Liam looks over to Circe. "If you handle the power washer, I can focus on using the concrete to shore up the cracks." Circe was good with guns, and the power washer was kind of like a gun, right?

As Cass and Sera build up the slats in the crack, Liam pours some Glamour into his arms to increase his physical abilities. Handling the concrete is a bit easier for him now.

[Circe]

Circe:
"Sure thing Liam," the Summer Queen nods and starts getting the pressure washer ready. "I don't see us smuggling a septic truck down here ta pump it out," she looks back into the hole to estimate. Ugh, blargh! Probably longer down to the wet then Ram is tall, "Ugh, I vote sealing. Overflows again, shit becomes the originators problem."


Circe gets the power washer going, and sprays down the crevice first. Best to get any loose stone out of the way before they seal it. And it really stands out with the stone cleaned. Doesn't stop the stench, but hey easier for those slats to go in. Once the crevice is cleaner, she saves the washer for the rest of the tunnel. "Lend ya a hand Liam? No, I won't clap."

Narration:
The cesspool can't be moved without extensive equipment and digging up from above. The cesspool should have flooded the toilets, not the tunnel, but the crack prevented this. Sealing up the crack as the Lost have planned could cause the next overflow to go to the toilets.


The barrier created by Cassandra and Seraphina actually cuts down on the smell assaulting their noses. If it is cutting of the stink, then it is good enough to hold the liquid stone in place. It'd probably hold on a effluence flood for a few hours with just the slats, it was well done and can't be made better with the tools at hand. No more rolls can be made to improve the interior slats.

Applying exterior slats for when Gerrit finishes the concrete is Strength plus Crafts, needing only 1 success.


Gerrit's work on making and setting the concrete is not complete yet. However, Gerrit's next roll for setting in the cement has 3 more dice thanks to Circe's teamwork roll.


7 days remain, and we are slaying/sealing the soiled stink.

Liam can feel the stench lessening in his Ogreish nose and he sighs in relief. "Finally, a chance to breathe." And, true to his assumption, Circe handled the hose like a champ. As he continues to apply the concrete, Liam looks around to the other Fairest in the group. "So, with Autumn coming up, what's the usual practice for their Coronation? A Haunted House? A Corn Maze? A Haunted Corn Maze?" Liam chuckles at Circe. "Well, if I do a good enough job will you do a cartwheel? I'm a Spring after all, we're all about positive affirmation."

"I'm in agreement with Circe. Plumbing is their problem." She nods her head and seems to relax a little at the lessening funk.

Liam asks his question as Cassandra works and she says, "Last year, the coronation was in the Autumn Hollow. I suppose Sera might know what's going on this year," she looks to Sera before continuing her work on the outer slats, ready to get them in once the concrete was good and dealt with. Reminds her that she and her court need to get their own coronation ceremony figured out. If it is anything like that year, the planning is going to be a nightmare and she'll be working on the space up to the last minute. She's sure that's how Sera must have felt at her coronation this past year.

[Seraphina]

A snort and laugh, “So we buy out all the local stores of anything lavender.” A nod, “Works for me!” clearly, she was joking from the tone of her voice. “And it has a calming effect!” that was true.

As she works with Cassandra, she watches Liam and Circe. Not surprised by the strength of her fellow Spring. Dude was huge!

The smell diminishing wasn’t lost on the Nix, it was a welcome development. Her and Cassandra were killing the slats, making short work of them.

Looking to Liam, she shrugs, “Well, I know Sonnie and I go to a haunted corn maze every year, kind of a tradition. But Autumn doesn’t really do anything stereotypical for their Coronation. There is usually always a wonderful selection of Hedge Fruit that they have gathered and an amazing meal. Last year we had the chance to hear Cassandra play, and it was magical.” A compliment to the Winter.

“And he’s kinda right Circe, positive reinforcement is totally a thing.” And important.

A smile to Cassandra, “Rhodes tends to be private about Autumn and the Coronation. We try and keep Court things out of the house. But I know he’s been quite busy! So I can’t wait to see what they’ve done.” but it was true, her and Rhodes didn't discuss their Seasons with each other.

The concrete is almost set properly. The size difference gives the Fairest a chance to get in while the Ogre does his work, give him a little more of a hand with ensuring the stuff is shoved in place properly. That would hopefully do it.


Circe's ears droop down perpendicular to her head as her eyes narrow at Liam. "A cartwheel? With dried shit fer a floor? Noooope." Circe pops the P, "Ya will hafta wait until after we power wash the corridor." A pause before she adds, "Or if ya want a be good treat, beer or cake later. Or both, make it a party. Save the water fer hosing us off'a concrete."


"Wait, lavender has a calming effect?" Circe is surprised to learn this. Though that'd explain why stores had lavender sleep scent aids. The Larcenist nods as this is logical to her. Then she turned upon Cassandra, "Damn straight Cass. Plus I'm a Summer. So, I am obligated ta say we don't take shit from nobody, oh ho ho ho!"


The elfin Fairest has no input on the Autumn Coronation, simply humming her own negative of I don't know. Her right ear however twitches to face towards Seraphina. To see what she has to say about Autumn's party. Oh, that had been good singing by Cassandra last year. "Well, Rhodes hasn't asked me fer any explosives, fireworks, so that isn't happening. Or hunt fer anything in the Hedge. So," she shrugs, "I got nothing. Any suggestions on what gifts he'd accept from a fellow crown would be welcome Sera. I am NOT going ta give yer gift, that is fer couples only," her red eyes sparkle with mischief as the Larcenist giggles.

Narration:

The ladies are masters of slats, ensuring that the concrete's edges will always be flats. They are ready and waiting for Liam and Circe to finish up the concrete pushing into the crevice. It is filled up properly by being forced in. It is mostly smoothed over too though the slats will ensure it stays that way.


Liam is almost finished with getting the concrete in place. He'd almost done it and that last little bit of help from Circe maneuvering around him to shove things in place did it. Then it was the time for the two not greyed changelings to shove the slats into place and secure them.


There is enough water left, with the washer at the lowest setting, to wash off both Circe and Liam of the concrete upon there persons. And it looks like they only needed half the concrete from their stock.


Circe:
"Well, that's done," she sputters getting the concrete powder off. "Ah, stale air! Want ta see how far the shit stain goes the other way?" Circe points to the tunnel path opposite the gallery they started from. She figured they might as well do that before turning in for the beer and/or cake.
