Dresses and Treats!

It was a beautiful summer day in Sacramento! The sun was shining, the temperature was warm and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky! A perfect day to do dress shopping with her best friend! Plus, they were getting lunch and sweets!

Downtown had a few bridal stores and she figured that would be a good spot to start. She wanted Sonnie Wu to find something she liked and would be comfortable in. Her friends’ comfort was more important to her than colors.

So she and Sonnie had decided to meet in front of one of the shops, and Sera sent a text to a few of the ladies of the Freehold. Maybe they’d like to join them for shopping and food! The Nix was dressed for the warmer weather in a white crop top, showing off a very toned and golden scaled stomach, with loose fitting draw strong pants. It was a look the Treasured pulled off effortlessly. There was of course her engagement ring, but no other jewelry.

Sonnie liked dresses. Sure, she mostly owned clothes that were rugged, or urban, or active wear. Stuff she could fight or parkour in. However, she had a few dresses in her closet. Pretty ones! More wouldn't hurt anything except how much space she had left in that closet.

The Beast showed up with her Mask strengthened, and wearing denim cutoffs, a black top, black sneakers, and some cool sunglasses!

"Yo! Yo! Yo! What up, sista? Ready to drive me into debt?" she grinned, as she approached Seraphina.

The Nix beams brightly as a wild Sonnie has appeared!

“Love the sunglasses!” the Beast knew what looked on her. A slight shrug, “Ah, not much, you?” then laughs, “Drive you into debt? I would never!” a hand placed on her chest in mock surprise. “I totally plan on paying for the dress after all.” And she did. “Then I figured we could find a great place to eat!” cause of course food.

Looking around, “Now, I want you to pick something you like and will be comfortable in. I’m not one of those crazy psycho brides that wants their best friend in a hideous dress she’ll never wear again!”

"Oh, pardon me!" Sonnie giggled, "I meant drive you into debt, since you're paying lunch." She peered at Sera over the top of her sunglasses, "I know some great places around here, no worries!" Because of course she did. Sonnie probably knew the best restaurants in the middle the Gobi Desert.

Nodding, she idly looked around the area, watching the people come and go, "So, like, a dress I'd actually wear again? For other reasons? Sounds like a game plan!"

[Seraphina]

Laughing, “Oh, of course! I wouldn’t expect anything else!” joking as she laughed, “But I enjoy treating you.” And she truly did. She knew Sonnie was a hard worker, and she was just someone who loved buying things for others. “Great!” so they were set!

A nod, “Yeah. I’ve seen some of those ugly dresses online that brides make their friends wear, and I was like, nope! No way! Sonnie needs to be comfortable and look beautiful too!” Sera might be the bride, but she didn’t want the spotlight. “Like, how could a friend make another buy an expensive and hideous dress?!” shaking her head, not her. “Yeah! Something you like and are comfortable in. Color doesn’t really matter, as I haven’t set colors for the wedding. I’d rather have something more,” pausing, “natural? Is that the right word?” she asks, “Not so coordinated.” A nod, “Yeah! That’s a better word. Fun and flowly!”

Looking around, “So where did we want to start?” there were a few different stores. “So how’s things been going?”

"I have no idea where to start!" she laughed, her head darting back and forth. "I thought you'd know! You're the one with the huge wardrobe!" The Beast grinned, teasing her friend.

"Well, I can't wait to see what there is to choose from! And don't worry, I'll try not to dress like a Vegas stripper." Wait, was that a possibility? With Sonnie, who knew?

[Seraphina]

Laughing, “Come on now…it’s not that big!” a dramatic eye roll added on. “Plus, I’ve recently gone through and donated a bunch.” True story. She enjoyed donating and the space it freed up for more clothes!

Eyebrows raised in amusement, “How does a Vegas stripper dress?” she asks, “If it’s like the dress I wore on New Years, then yeah,” a shake of her head, “please no!” laughing. Was she saying she looked like a hooker on New Years? Maybe, the dress was, well, revealing.

Looking around, she points to a store front, “How about there?” it looked like a small store, not a chain one. If Sonnie agrees, the Nix will start walking over to it, and holding the door open for Sonnie when they get there.

It was indeed, a small business. The dresses were lovely, but it was clear they weren’t mass produced. “Oh! So many pretty dresses!” gushes the Nix. Walking up to a few, she turns to Sonnie, “Now, do you prefer long or short? I really don’t have a preference, I just want you comfortable.”

"That's sweet of you. I'm sure there's some very well-dressed homeless folks around Sacramento now, but we all know that closet space will be filled again by the end of the week." The trickster monkey giggled, enjoying the humor at Sera's expense. It wasn't every freehold where you could tease a monarch like that and get away with it.

"Like, uh, like a Vegas stripper. You know, cheap and tawdry. I don't know. When I'm in Vegas I'm more drawn to the casino buffets." Of course she was. Those buffets were great!

Sonnie did, in fact, agree and she walked towards the store with the Fairest. Always in the shadow of faerie majesty. "Oh, why thank you, kind sir!" She faked a Southern drawl as Sera held the door for her like some sort of gentleman. She laughed as she entered.

Curious eyes took in the place, noting the things a Beast would note: Exits, hiding places, odd smells, available food. "Hmmm, these are handmade?" Fingers idly groped various fabrics until the Nix made a couple of suggestions. She stepped over and examine the dresses in question. "Ohhh, both are so sexy! Ummm... short? Long skirts tend to inhibit my.... uh, movements." She wiggled her butt, suggesting she was talking about her tail (though it was currently not seen due to her Mask being hardened).

Sighing, “Yeah, you’re right.” Then giggling, “Maybe I need a support group for people who buy too many clothes.” Was that a thing?

A nod, “Well, the dress wasn’t cheap, but it could be described as tawdry!” no reason to get into why she was wearing it and what had been going on. “I’ve heard they have amazing buffets! We’ll have to take a road trip sometime! I’m not as good as Max at cards, but I’m pretty decent.” And it was more fun for her to be a distraction. “Do you have a favorite casino buffet?” the Nix was betting on something with lots of sweets.

“Then short it is!” then laughs as Sonnie wiggles her butt. “Any colors you prefer over others?” still looking at the dresses. She was truly making this about whatever Sonnie wanted, what she would be comfortable in. “I can see you being able to wear any color quite well.” Looking through a few more, “Oh! This ones all flowy!”

"Shopaholics Anonymous?" She mused out loud, not really suggesting that Sera seek a help group. She didn't see it as a problem. Now, if Sera's house became so full of clothes that she ended up on a episode of Hoarders, that would be a problem.

Was that show still on the air?

"Oooooooo!" the Monkey made excited monkey sounds, "Vegas road trip! Let's do that! Oh, a favorite? Ummm, hard to decide. The big casinos usually have the best stuff." She nodded. "I'm no good at cards. If I gamble, it's dice or that roulette thing. Gambling kinda bores me, though."

Fingers touched fabrics, and she even sniffed at a few of the dresses. "I like green and red and purple!" She nodded again, then paused, "Um, not all in the same dress, though. That'd be weird."

More monkey noises at the sight of the purple dress Sera had found, "OOOOOoooo! That's so pretty!" Sonnie bounced over to the Nix for a closer look!
