This dress had taken a lot out of her. It needed to be absolutely perfect, no mistakes, no missed stitch…nothing.

It was Springs’s night, where their Season began and everything had to be perfect.

The design wasn’t her first idea. Oh no. It was her third sketch that had taken center stage for her. It was different, and would present her a whole new challenge. Making the fabric panels line up sit properly and finding the right shade, had taken weeks. Hours upon hours, and days upon days had been spent in her Hollow making placing every stitch.

The delicate drops of Spring’s First dew hadn’t been too difficult to find. Expensive, costing a lot of the nicer items she had for trading. But worth it.

Now placing them? Days of painstaking labor. Shining a light just so on the dress, placing a dew drop, stepping back, moving it when it didn’t hit the light just right. The Nix found herself taking numerous breaks, collapsing on the floor from near exhaustion. Falling asleep for an hour or two then waking to work on the dress.

Then the branches, from the first tree to grow in Spring had to be placed. Framing her back and wrapping around it just so. Another process that took her longer than she would have liked.

Finally, after days of hard work, it was finished. Sitting on the floor of her Hollow, she looked at her dress on the stand. Taking in every stitch and detail, knowing the blood and sweat that had gone into it. Was it her best work? No. She could do better. But she had pushed herself too hard, and didn’t have anymore left in her. This would have to do. And she would have to work on improving her skills moving forward.
