Haunted Corn Maze Take 2!

[Seraphina]

Laughing as well, “Well, with all you’ve done for me, I need to make sure you know how important you are.” A firm nod, she was serious.

The candy apple returns to her mouth as she slowly chews on it, maybe thinking it will prevent her from screaming.

“Fake or not, someone jumping out at you or chasing you with a chainsaw is terrifying!” she exclaims. Not as terrifying as what they’d each faced while being Taken. But still, chainsaws were scary. “I hope you haven’t just fated us to be chased by someone with a chainsaw!” should she try and nudge luck in their favor? Though that would ruin the fun of this. Fun? Did she think it was fun? A bit.

“At least he’s keeping us on the right track.” A nod to Fugly, “Wonder if that clown is still here?” she hoped not, she didn't like him. But the noises in the corn were getting closer, and she wasn't ok with that.

Sonnie blushed at the compliment. It meant a lot, especially coming from such a valued friend. The Beast wasn't quite so eloquent to put that into clear words, so she just said, "Ah, girl! Please! It ain't nothing but a thang!"

She stopped cold, considering the possibility that the Wyrd might be listening to her silly ravings. "Uh, I mean... chainsaws don't scare me. Or clowns. So, having a chainsaw clown suddenly show up wouldn't be interesting. At all." Shifty eyes were shifty.

Fugly, the Great and Noble Protector, was distracted by a wad of chewing gum someone had left on the ground. He was busy sniffing at it. Sonnie had to pull him away before he tried to eat it. Leading the ladies through the maze seemed to not be on his mind.

[Seraphina]

Smirking, “The best thang there is!” she bounces back.

An eyebrow raises, “Uh, I think there is a rule against clowns carrying chainsaws.” A quick nod, “It like, goes against the clown code.” Or something. Maybe. “At least, that’s what I heard.” She almost whispers. Flash backs of the scary clown from last year popping up.

As she watched Fugly, there was sudden movement from the corn. The rustle was close, and a shadow could be seen to the left moving around. Eyes dart to Sonnie, making sure the Beast saw it too, a shaky finger pointing it out in case she didn’t.

But that was the distraction. For the real scare was behind them to the right, and the sudden sound of a chainsaw broke the silence. Little puffs of while smoke coming from the bloodied tool. The guy wielding it? Not a clown! But instead, Leatherface, swinging the chainsaw widely above his head.

The Nix screams, because, loud sudden noise and scary guy.

"There's a clown code? Nobody told Pennywise, I think. Or Krusty." The Monkey shrugged, glancing up at the autumn sky for a moment.

As a result, Sonnie missed the visual cues from Seraphina, and didn't notice the Leatherface impersonator until he was already jumping out.

She startled from the sudden, unexpected movement, but rather than scream, she instead issued a more bestial growl. Animal instincts made her reaction more hostile than fearful. The noise was quickly capped into silence, however, lest it grow into full on simian screeching.

Fugly had a similar reaction, immediately barking at the figure and puffing out his little chest. So brave!

[Seraphina]

“Oh yes. Clowns go to school and all. When they graduate, they take an Oath, like doctors do. But I think Pennywise and Krusty failed the school, so they didn’t take the Oath and are there fore not bound by it.” A sage nod.

Peering over Sonnie’s head, because for one, Sera was tall and two, she might have been hiding behind her. Now the bestial growl wasn’t completely unexpected, Sonnie was a Beast, but it did make the Nix feel better.

Pointing at the Leatherface, still behind Sonnie, “You got us.” Then tries to motion him back to wherever he came from.

“Awww! Fugly! So brave!” she coos. “But I think we should quickly find the exit. Not sure if that guy has friends or not.”

"The noble Sir Fugly has banished the evil knave! We are safe... for now!" Grinning, Sonnie stooped down and petted her pooch, who happily accepted the affection. She looked up over her shoulder at the Nix, smirking.

"Had enough already?" She glanced towards the retreating Leatherface. "I dunno about friends, but he's probably got fellow employees!"

[Seraphina]

Kneeling down, she also petted Sir Fugly, “Such a brave and good boy Sir Fugly! He shall be showered with treats!” she declared before standing once again.

“I want to know why I’m always the jumpy one.” She says with a small laugh, “Done in the matter of this area. I’m sure we’ll encounter a few more on the way to the exit.” It was true, they were only about half way into the maze. Looking around, “So, which way?” there were a few options. Though each looked as daunting as the other, no real rhyme or reason.

"You hear that, Fugs? A shower of treats! I'm jealous of you!" The Monkey laughed. The dog was in heaven, being petted by both women at once.

Standing back up, Sonnie looked about, then shrugged. "Dunno. How about left?" She gestured randomly to a path among the corn stalks. One way was as good as another, really. It wasn't like the staff would let anyone remain lost in the maze all day. The Beast started forward, her pet mongrel trotting along at her side with his nose to the ground.

Laughing as well, “But of course you’ll be showered as well. You have trained a very noble and good boy, you need to be rewarded as well.” Yup, no getting out of it!

Look to the left, she nods, “Left it is!” and follows Sonnie and Fugly, a finger absently touching the band of her ring.

A little way down the path, a figure can be seen standing in the middle of the path. Not doing anything. Just…standing there. The moonlight and soft glow from the lanterns shone off a mask that was a rabbit. And as they got closer, she simply stepped into the corn. Nothing said.

“Creepy.” The Nix says under her breath. But just a few feet after, someone jumped out of the corn. With a creepy giggle and a blood splattered dress, she waved what appeared to be a needle of some sort at them. Sera jumped, but didn’t scream this time.

"Honestly, I should be showered with treats every day," she nodded sagely. That was the dream, and she meant it in a literal sense.

Sonnie blinked at the bunny masked girl, tilting her head to one side, then the other. This was... interesting. Fugly wagged his tail and want to go greet the woman.

The other girl, the one with the jumping and the scaring and the big-ass needle, she elicited a reaction from Sonnie that was the Beast falling into a martial arts stance, ready to defend herself. After a moment, she blinked and laughed. "Ha! Good distraction with the bunny!" Fugly was barking again.
