The doctor sighs, "I've done some additional reconnoiter since we last spoke. Plan A is the ideal option, unfortunately, it's as I feared; the barrier here is far too thick it could easily take four, maybe five hours to break through it. With our numbers now, everyone just milling about might draw unwanted attention. We must try and exterminate the spider here. If I can get to the kitchen, the web might still be damaged there, it'll be easier for me to work with greater effect. Once the threat is dealt with we can clean up the mess on the other side methodically. I'd advise you all to guard your emotions, remain as best you can. Your very thoughts and desires can attract unfriendly things." He nods to Aurora and Phoenyx, this went from a hit squad to a militia and it was their army to lead.

The mages move through the area, spreading out.

Aurora follows the garden around the building. Out the front, the garden was merely unkempt; out the back, the yard is now obviously neglected: the lawn is ragged and the bushes are spindly, nasty, and wild.

The rear of the house is deformed by an overly large extension thrusting into the yard - it is an ugly, blocky, thing that is at odds with the general look of the building. However, the extension does allow access to an open window on the top floor of the house. Curtains hang stiffly in the window. The 'hole' the first group made when they climbed in, all those months ago, is still there Phoenyx


The back door is a broken shambles of shattered glass and burst wood. The spray of shards and woody material suggests the door exploded outward. Looking in, the kitchen area looks scorched and damaged from a small explosion and fire.

I am assuming Guru will go and retrieve his shotgun.

Can everyone indicate where their characters are in relation to the front / back of the house in their next post. That will help me keep a visual track of things in my head

Naga quietly watched as Phoenyx and Anima butted heads over the initial plan and it's viability. It seemed like nothing had been scouted out beforehand. Not everyone could scry, however. It was good to remember that.

She turned to Kaze and Aurora, "Since our part of the plan is unchanged, we might as well, yes?" Whatever Team Phoenyx did now, Team Aurora was still to enter the house physically.

"I'm running a spell that gives me 360 degree vision. So I can watch our tail as we go," the Warlock quietly informed her companions, "Also, once inside, I can map the interior of the house, so we may be able to pinpoint the creature's location rather quickly."

And so she followed Aurora around to the backside of the house, staying alert for anything of an unpleasant and arachnid nature. She drew her revolver once they were out of sight of the street, holding it low at her side, and demonstrating proper trigger discipline.

"So much for the property values," she commented as she saw the neglected state of the yard and the damaged house.

“New to town, likely the pre-mission briefing happened before I got here or I’d have had a lot more questions. I got your back though, I’ll make sure we all get outta this in one piece at worst, ok?”

He nodded, he’d need to procure a pistol or two for future excursions maybe a compact smg like an uzi or something, he’d look into options for the future for sure but he hadn’t had a lot of time to put together an arsenal yet just what he had for home defense.

Naga had given them the all clear, no one was watching Phoenyx had made it so they were hard to hear and he took a look around before whispering the High Speech, focusing on the words of power and imagining the knots of his muscles, the memory stored within them as he focused on their speed and reaction.

He’d held out the bottle and no one took it so he shrugged and pocketed it for now. “I’m an Alchemist, I stored healing power in the pill shit hits the fan it’ll stitch you back together.” He then turned on his heel and ran, he was quick and obstacles didn’t seem to be much of a problem for him.

He went into his glove compartment first, ammo into the bag then the full clip was pulled out moving to the trunk to unlock it, flip the safety to on, load the clip then pocket the one for the chamber for before they breached, worst case he was done a shot he could have had otherwise. He slung the shotgun over his back using its sling as he returned to rejoin Pheoynx and Anima barely out of breath from the exertion.

“Should be good to go now, I’ll do what I can to assist whatever the plan is. You lead, I’ll follow this is your show. I'll chamber the first shell before we get inside ok?"

His mind started running through scenarios about what if the slugs didn't work, what if it didn't take damage from mundane firearms and how he could alter the composition of either the shell or the shot and what that might look like, his mind doing quick calculations in his head as he waited for orders.

Whichever end of the house Phoenyx decides to go to, Guru will follow.

There was a dark humorless chuckle, “Worst comes to worst, I can try to add another fish to the collection.” She was well aware that Phoenyx would be the only one to get it. And was ok with that.

Looking to Kaze, she nods, “But we don’t run into a fight ok?” she didn’t think he was stupid, but she wanted to be sure he knew that. Cause if they could kill this thing before anyone got hurt, that would be best.

Wait? Yeah, because they had an endless amount of time on their hands. “If you guys go through the front, we can hopefully corner it. Or follow us to the back and we do a full assault.” Either way, she was moving. The time to fully plan had been before they got here, and it was clear, that hadn't been done and it was time to act.

From the look of the backyard, burning the house down would be doing the neighborhood a favor. But, attention and last resort.

“Well, if they’re not going into its world, we might as well go in as one. Or one in front and one in back. But I’d rather not hang around outside drawing attention.” Then a nod, “That’ll be really helpful. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to hopefully make things easier for us.” But she wanted to see what they were working with. With this many Shamans here, she hoped she wouldn’t be relied on for heals and could focus on eliminating the target.

Aurora is in the backyard

Phoenyx took a slow breath. "Fine. Plan B it is. Guru, Anima - through the front. Aurora, round the back."

She gives Aurora a nod as they head off.

The Arrow reaches inside her own jacket and pulls out her firearm, moving up to the front door and gesturing Guru to take the other side.

Kaze nods as Anima speaks. No plan survives contact with the enemy; flexible minds will prevail; adapt and overcome. Anima needs to get to the kitchen, and might be able to do something there. But the only sure objective is to destroy the thing, and it looks like this side is where it's going to have to happen.


Naga talks about Space magic, like Alastor used when they were on a mission; that's good. She'll have eyes on the target, not just mind stuff. She can watch the rear and all the directions; that's good too. Kaze can't be everywhere, and he needs to stay between this thing and Aurora and Naga. She's got a gun though. So he' need to try not to get shot while running interference.


Kaze moves when Aurora does, nodding to Phoenyx.


In the back yard, when Aurora asks for reassurance that he's not going to just charge into anything, he smiles and says, "You got this. I am going to be your meat-shield and make sure you have the time to do what you need to do. I won't charge into anything, but I am going to do my best to keep its attention on me, okay? I plan on being defensive, not giving it an opening, but just doing enough to keep it mad and focused on me. I am not worried about actually hurting it as much, just keeping it's attention. If you're okay with that plan?" He asks respectfully, the word, 'Master or Councillor' is implied by the tone of deep respect if not actually spoken out loud.

"If you can lock it in place, control it, then I could go on offense, use fire, but...I think a burning house is going to draw a lot of attention we don't want...."

Organic Resilience Second Sight Peer Across the Gauntlet

Anima tries not to let it show that he feels quite important getting to move with the Arrow and the Guru. He approaches the door behind the two armed action heroes.

"Unless it's been repaired, it'll probably still open easily from the last time I forced my way in." He wasn't going to be the first to open it this time and just stroll in though, not now that he knows what they're dealing with. Instead, he opens his eyes to what lies beyond the veil between worlds. He whispers, concentration causing his shiny head to glisten as his aura becomes more burdened, a single grey sigil sliding into place. Eyes glass over as he scouts past the webs reinforcing the gauntlet.

Anima Guru Phoenyx

The front door opens easily, creaking slightly on its hinges. Nothing appears to have changed dramatically in the hallway of the house: there are no stains on the carpet or walls; the furniture they can see is all intact; no physical hints of webbing like they had discovered on the upper storey.

The air is stale and still carries an undertone of burning.

The hall runs the length of the house and includes the stairs to the upper level. A door on their right leads to a living room. A door at the far end of the hall leads to a combined dining / kitchen area.

A single, heeled, shoe lies on the stairs.

Anima forces his gaze through the Gauntlet. Thick webs scrape at this skin but the Shaman is undaunted. He finds the Shadow to be a weak reflection of the house - so weak, in fact, that it is starting to dissolve into the thick webs that cover everything in the mirror space. The Realm is cloudy, murky (and not with spirit motes). There is something buried in the space that reflects the ceiling on his side of the Gauntlet. Most disconcerting.

Aurora Kaze Naga move through the ruined back door without much difficulty. They find themselves in a combined kitchen / dining area. The kitchen area merges into the extension (and Naga's dim view of the property is complete: the extension-kitchen is poorly designed and stained by the wreckage of the microwave).

Phoenyx and Kaze will note that the wrecked microwave has been moved and the abandoned shopping bags removed.

The house creaks and settles...

Fish?

Naga gave the Master Shaman an odd look, but now was not the time to inquire about inside jokes. She stayed on task, keeping wide ranging eyes open.

She gave a nod to Kaze, "I'll try not to shoot you."

The kitchen certainly looks like it had exploded at some point. It fit with the details she'd heard.

Time to ping the radar.

After a brief phrase in the High Speech, the Warlock made a sharp, commanding mudra as she enacted her will upon the house through a rote. A clear golden glyph formed for just a moment as the Space magic washed out in all directions, to give her a brief but concise mental map of the building's interior - including the positions of everything and everyone in it.
