Anatole grunted and took a moment to switch his axe from one shoulder to another.

"Let 'em go. We got our own places to be, right? I mean, I think we gotta see this... Orchard... before we plan our next move, myself. We need to know what we are up against."

The pair leaves, the gutted briar wolf on the ground, the sputtering fire, and their meat, left. While their bags and whatever supplies within disappear with them as the hustle through the clearing and further into the thorns.

The Sacramento Lost, however, have other priorities then to chase after the fleeing Beasts.

Westward they travel, trough vine and bramble. Toward answers and danger, both.

The Nix nods to Anatole, “Agreed.” They can’t plan for what they don’t know.

An eyebrow raises, “Interesting is a good word for it.” But why’d they leave the food? We’re they running from something? Or just wanted to move on? She got lost in that thought process for a few. Before hearing Circe, and nodding. Her eyes focusing once again on what was around them.

Anatole forms up at the rear of the party, muscling his way easily through the undergrowth.

His head bobbed unsteadily on his squat neck. Up. Left. Right. Down to the side. Back up. Straight ahead. Right to left. Left to right. His eyes and his entire concentration was absorbed keeping them on the trail; watching for signs of change in the Hedge - for the hedge spoke to those who knew how to see and listen.

In Faerie, even the landscape was a sentient thing.

The Lost know the dangers the Hedge offer. As they march, their eye stay sharp, just because they had meet two that hadn't offered violence, doesn't mean that they would set the tone for their journey. The Hedge is as capricious and mercurial as any Other.

Alert and ready, they each see the thorn packed walls around them moving, ever so slightly. They hear something underfoot.

As they continue, they come to the realization that there is something skittering in the underbrush.

[Rhodes]

The Dread Lord reaches into his bag slowly and takes a hold of the knife. "Does anyone else see that?"

[Circe]

The barrel of Circe's rifle is now scanning the underbrush, "Yes I did Rhodes. Gun safety rules. Anybody know what it is?"

[Anatole]

"Yeah... I mean... No."

Anatole stopped, spread his legs in a more solid, defensive, posture and lowered his axe.

Very slowly, he starts to spin the axe in hands. It was a way to channel his irritation as much as it was an intimidating display.
