Fear. It is never far from Rhodes' thoughts, and right now, he must prootect Sera. The knife is noting of use, but his mind, his magic....

Well. Perhaps it was time for the Dread Lord to show his very special brand of quality.

Autumn leaves manifest in a cyclone around the Autumn King. Reaching out towards an unharmed spider, fingers splayed, he drags his hand intowards himself, as if wrenching something invisible form the creature itself.

Brother to the Ague is here: The spider takes 1 bashing damage per success, gets to deduct it's Stamina from the roll (but gets no defense) and is at a -2 to all future actions.

[Saber Sloth]

With the heave of the Smith's axe, and the force of the Dread Lord's magic, the spiders, chitter their last, folding into themselves, and falling to their backs. Though they do not stay on the path for long. The Thorns reach out with greedy vines, reclaiming the bodies.

The Lost are left as they were before the swarm descended upon them. On the path, with a direction and a destination.

[Circe]

"Good job boys!" Well Rhodes did something magical but Abe certainly killed some with the axe. The Fairest eyes the melted ground even as the Thorns reclaim the vermin. The elf continues to scan the Thorns with the rifle, "Bugs with acid spit," after realizing no more threats await she flips off the Thorns, "Ya watch too many movies."

Red and black eyes scan the ground a second time to see if any chitin was left behind, while one hand goes free from the rifle to move through her pockets. She found the loose rifle rounds. Topping off would be a later thing if they were just going to keep moving, but somethings needed checking, "Anybody hit? If not, anybody see any good size chitin left over?"

[Seraphina]

Thankfully she was right about Anatole, his axe found its mark!

Then Rhodes, with his leaves manifesting around him. She didn’t know what he did, but he looked quite handsome doing it.

Her lips curl in disgust as the spiders die and the Hedge reclaims them. But there was still a shudder, she hated spiders. Creepy fuckers.

Shaking her head, “I don’t think so. Think between your gun, that axe, whatever you did,” looking at Rhodes with pride, “and the luck I added, we got the jump on them.” Which was good. But would it hold up? “Not that the luck was needed, you guys were great!” she praised.

A perfectly shaped eyebrow raises, “Seriously?” then a shake of her head as she begins to scan the ground, “They good for something or something?”

Anatole was carefully cleaning his axe.

"Well sure. Hedge bounty is hedge bounty. Pity I don't have a workshop or I'd be gathering some myself."

He wrestled with the greedy hedge attempting to claim his weapon and made a disgusted noise when he triumphed.

"We best get on. Before something else bubbles out of the Hedge."

[Rhodes]

"Magic, darling," Rhodes replies to Sera, with a wink.

"Not sure we could use such things in the real world... but I leave that to crafters," the Dread Lord shrugs.

"We should press on."

[Circe]

"No idea," she shakes her head at Seraphina's question, "Good Hedgespin needs Hedge parts, like Anatole said. Acid spitting spiders sounds like a good part fer crafting a gun ta me."

I'm an elf," she points with a loose bullet at Anatole, "Axe wielding warrior," then to Seraphina, "And a beauty. Yes. We will run this Gauntlet ta victory."

Circe listens to see if anybody got her horrid, dated, joke.

[Saber Sloth]

Of the Lost, Circe is the one truly interested in the bounty, and it's her red eyes that spy stray bits, a leg, perhaps a mandible, and there! A gleaming fang, dangerously close to the Thorns.

To retread it, Circe will have to avoid the Thorns' greedy bite, or battle them for it.

Dex+Athletics to nab, or Strength+Weaponry to hack away at the Thorns

[Circe]

"Good nobody is ah ha!" Circe cries as she tries to nimbly wrest a leg from the Thorns without contributing too much leather jacket or blood to the decor.

Looking to the other Autumn, she nods, “I’ve just always bought my materials from a Market. The whole not wanting to venture too far into the Hedge alone thing.” But after feel useless against the spiders, she was thinking about crafting herself a weapon of some kind. Maybe she should be keeping an eye out for materials if they come up.

“But yeah, good idea.” Cause just be their luck it’d be some mutant spider the size of a horse or something. A shiver goes down her spine, no thanks.

Of course, it was magic, and the wink was returned.

“Oh, I completely agree. But like I said, I’m used to trading for my ingredients.” Think she went and gathered the spider silk on her jacket? Hell no. And as to the gun part? Not her taste, but it suited the elf perfectly. She’d probably add the acid to something else.

“I need to get a personal space setup myself. Hate crafting at the Tavern.”

The Nix didn’t get the joke. But does watch with interest as Circe attempts to retrieve her trophy.
