Metal whirled around Alastor as he warmed up, wrists twirling as the strange knife attached to the end of a lengthy chain flew about him. The Arrow had changed his combat gear, a bulletproof vest under a black t-shirt with cargo pants. On his back was his shotgun. Squinting against the light, the First Talon readied himself for a morning of getting ready.

And, of course, of testing their newest arrival, Galatea , who had been invited to the Arrow Wing this day to be assessed. He resisted the urge to listen to the popular children's song, Baby Shark --

do do do do do FUCK!

And there it was. Stuck in his head, forever more. The Orphan had done this to him. She'd have to demonstrate why she was worth such a horrible fate. An existence of Baby Shark, which could be ended if only he knew enough Mind to overcome the Lie of songs being stuck in his head.

Galatea came in with a giant backpack over her shoulder, seeing the Arrow-in-charge armed to the teeth (well, not literally). The Thyrsus did not immediately change this time around- mostly because she wanted to wait to decide the form.

"Hey Lad. I'm going to set up and stretch a bit before the training begins- Thanks for inviting me!"

She found a spot out of the way, pulling out a yoga mat. The Orphan laid it down, spreading it out, and started to pull the rest of the contents out of the bag.... Which, as it turned out, happened to be a bunch of biology textbooks.

No, seriously. "Marine Biology, Dysphotic Classifications (3rd edition)," "Urban Adaptations in species (1st edition)", and "Common Biological Toxins, Delivery Mechanisms and Composition (1st edition)."

Funnily enough, slipping out of the contents of one such hardcovers is a much thinner 'book' with a very colorful, artistic image of an animated figure doing an epic pose and transforming into a- SHITSHITSHITHOWDIDTHATGETTHERE!! Galatea quickly and not-at-all suspiciously shoved (with care) the definitely-not-manga back in the bag, set it aside, opened the Marine Biology textbook to a marked page, and started to do stretches on the mat. Her form contorted in such a way as to allow her to read the page-which was apparently describing a kind of swordfish.

"Are you going to use live rounds during the training?"

Galatea wasn't at all joking, her tone entirely inquisitive. She had never fared against firearms- but she'd shrugged off and healed from all manner of life-threatening bites and toxins. Bullets were the next logical step, and her healing ability would be jut as effective.

Kaze arrives wearing loose, black cotton trousers, black athletic shoes, and a solid black tee shirt. He is carrying a katana in a sheath wrapped in a padded leather jacket.

He casts spells on himself after entering.

Phoenyx had arrived at the Circle with a real spring in her step. She wasn't blind to why - she always did after a night (and morning) with Kaze - but Aurora was right. It was clear when the Obrimos was in a good mood, since her serious, almost cold demeanour warmed up considerably.

After a warm-up you around the Concillium, the small Arrow was sat on the ground, stretching; her body flat against her leg and hands around her bare foot. She was wearing a form-fitting stretchy top and loose pants in red and black with an underarm holster strapped on and a pair of knives strapped to the small of her back.

She smiles as Kaze enters, though her eyes widen as she spots a couple of her more enthusiastic bite-marks peeking out from his top at the base of his neck. Flushing slightly, she focuses intently on stretching to the other foot. Hopefully her blush will look like exertion.

"In basic assessment, like today? No. I'll be using rubber shot." The First Talon didn't hesitate to move on into the serious stuff, though. "Generally speaking, however? With a Life Disciple here, yes. Your ability to heal serious injuries with a ritual casting makes it much easier to do appropriate, live-fire training. There's also a Life Master who can take care of the real bad injuries on call."

Glancing from each to each, Alastor contemplated options.

"Gear and casts, let's do this. Galatea, start it up with Kaze first. Phoenyx, I want you evaluating. You want to be a trainer of new fighters, I want to see some coaching."

Galatea nodded. The Head-Arrow was correct- life magic could turn any mage into a tank. But to compare the basic healings of an Orphan to a standard Life practitioner would be a disservice. Apart from amputation and total-body-destruction (via explosives or acid or something other), and barring magical strikes beyond what a bullet or a fist could do, there was little Galatea couldn't easily recover from. And the effort it took, was minimal.

She'd noted that Kaze had cast spells earlier, and with Alastor's instructions it seemed magic was to be allowed. Good. Although, Alastor's use of rubber bullets told Galatea that, perhaps, sharp claws wouldn't be a good option. Tearing her fellow Arrows apart was probably not a good idea. Instead, Galatea decided to focus on defense. So, pulling out her mirror...

"Proteus, grant me the strength of the Ocean's Web, that I may endure the crashing onslaught"

Once again the familiar changes arose. In many ways it wasn't that dissimilar to her previous shift. Hardened shark skin started to replace fragile flesh, her body started to shift and grow in size to attempt to mirror a great white, sharp shark teeth replaced her normal ones... But this time, instead of a tail, her hands started to grow a hardened coral substance. Not as dangerous as claws, but it would add 'oomph' to her punches no doubt. The smell of the sea washed around her.

Hardened shark skin (armor +2), Sharp Teeth (don't worry, she won't bite), Coral Arms (+2 brawling rolls, bashing), Great White Mass (size +1)

That was all she would do for now. The thought of using Life to grant herself even more defense crossed her mind- but she wished to test the bounds of her healing capabilities, and decided against more armor for now. Start small, work your way up.

Her opponent would be the goofy one with the katana.... Standing a few feet away from him, the image was very reminiscent of one of the Orphan's books, which elicited a small laugh- a warm one, not a mocking one.
"Do you plan to use the sword? I will not stop you- I have taken shark bites. A blade will be a good comparison."

Galatea took no tactical stance, instead getting ready to charge.

"I have never fought a sword wielder. I would be delighted if you'd indulge... Ah... I won't bite, by the way. Not sure if you could recover from that."

Kaze smiles and nods, more like a bow, actually. "To be honest, I'm more advanced in hand to hand, but it sounds like the sword would be better practice for both of us."

He belts the sword to his waist, sword in its sheathe.

He steps up to face Galatea. "Pheonyx, will you start us?" he asks.

She pulls on her trenchcoat and moves between the two of them. "Three. Two. One... Begin."

Crossing his arms before him, the First Talon awaited the start of the fight, beginning to evaluate their techniques. Noting the shark-woman's casting, he immediately wondered how Wise she actually was. Augmenting her capacity for violence with magic for training was a perfectly valid Arrow training tool. However, it also demonstrated casual use of magic to aid in harming living beings.

A challenge, to be sure, one they'd work out later.
