(Echelon) Alten's Angels

Lina Moretti had long since come to the conclusion that the most important thing a good private eye had in their arsenal was a world of people, willing to talk to her. It was a web of connections, bringing together people into a workable network of valuable intelligence. So it was tonight. She needed eyes on Erika Alten, a person known to move from city to city in the service of Echelon, the company that had moved itself into the area of Rosemont-Mather.

Ms. Alten had a fondness for 'the experience'. Not one to merely just meet for an outcall, Erika wanted something more. Was she a ghoul? It could be so, perhaps; perhaps this was a moment of attempted connection in a life that simply did not allow for it. Regardless, she was a valuable and important part of the overarching Echelon operation. Accordingly, surveillance would be required from the stealthy and subtle. To obscure her identity, the Sheriff had disguised herself with makeup, falsies, hair color - the sorts of things that would make her hard to remember. She dressed to blend in; attractive, but not overly so; where ever they were to go tonight, she would be blending in as someone who looked exactly like she belonged.

After all, part of the job was knowing how to be a social chameleon.

They started at the Nox as she waited for the word from her allies on where this experience was to take place. She had called on two others. One, her known Mekhet, the hacker, Derek Menzies. Another, a less known option, Adam Exlibrist. Perhaps the Lance man had some of what the Domain needed, and wanted to make a name for himself as more than just a spiritual visitor...

Derek isn't certain what he is supposed to have worn for tonight's excursion. But as there was talk of the Cloak, he imagined he is meant to stay out of sight. So nondescript hoodie and jeans, dark in color so as not to attract the eye. He carries with him a case filled with the assortment of tech he has at his disposal. And another bag slung over his shoulder carrying his lightweight slim laptop. He descends the stairs, careful to leave his knife with the coat check. It is Elysium, after all. Then he begins searching for the Sheriff and recalling the information they had acquired evenings prior.

Erika Alten, a liaison maybe? For all the travel she does. Probably arranges discrete entertainment for the higher ups. But that's all he knew.

Upon finding the team leader, Derek greets her with a nod. "Evening, Sheriff Moretti. I, uh, brought what I have. We can look it over if you like before we, um, head out."

Sheriff Moretti does just fine at determine where she needs to be. But it's not some street corner or alleyway giving out ZJ's to some asshole driving down the street. It's a luxury suite of The Citizen Hotel. Sheriff Moretti, now just Moretti, would be auditioning for a chance to be her mark's GFE.

Moretti's contact also told her that the turnout for this, from the working girls, was very exclusive, very high end. No streetwalker was going to get into this deal. However, the madam of this roving band liked new girls, said they were less "hooker-ish".

There were two clients tonight. The mark, and a Mister Timothy Parvanov. Opportunities about for Lina and her crew...

The Sheriff called or was it the Regent. Perhaps the Grand Worm. Regardless, the one who presented the obstacle to completing his mission had summoned Adam to her office.

Cloaked as usual, Adam descends the steps into Elysium, revealing himself the second his foot hits the bottom step. Like one of those wizards in the movies apparating into existence, the shadow stood dressed in his usual suit and tie. Adam takes a moment to tighten the knot around his neck putting his beast at bay.

He could hear voices coming from Moretti's office. The voice was familiar. His skittish cousin. Fascinating.

Adam thought about his needs that Moretti would have to fulfill. He needed her permission to investigate Moore House... had a Worm's Nest developed there? It was not uncommon for such things to occur at Sanctum sites. Would she claim it as hers with or without such a nest? What of the contents? Would she annex that as well?

It would be best to flatter her and get her to support his efforts. This might be his chance.

Adam gently knocked on the Sheriff's door.

This mission was going to suck. Most of all for her. She'd posed as all manner of things, but a high-class hooker was a new one for her. A little red dress would do the trick, she figured, and after spending far too long on her makeup, she'd managed to pull it off - both a functional disguise to conceal her true appearance as well as making herself look just smashing in a classy, yet sexy, way.

She peered at the Lance man, who had disrespected her Standing recently for some reason. He'd wanted a thing. They'd get to that, and resolving the issue, later. Right now was a time for a test, and for a job.

"Show me what you've got, Mitnick... also, hello, Mr. Exlibrist. Figured I'd give you a call, in case you wanted to have an opportunity to make a name for yourself."

She rose, moving around her desk to speak with the priest.

"Long story short - there's an organization pushing in on Rosemont-Mather. Looks shady, potentially Kindred-related, tunneling and building and buying off criminals and cops alike. It's something I'm looking into with a group of the local new arrivals. I've got a mark who works at the company involved, one who's into high priced ladies and gents. Mission? Figure out if there's a Kindred behind all this, subtly and without detection." Enter Lina Moretti. "I need to know if she's a ghoul, and I need the best sets of eyes I can get to do that. Which means I need someone with Sight chops. Know anybody of that sort who wants to earn some favor?"

She figured if anybody knew Auspex, it'd be a Mekhet.

Is he being played? Tested perhaps? When one visits the Sheriff you expect her to be in the presence of someone professional, just not as professional as Moretti was presently dressed. Dressed for sin, many sins. Leave it to the Daeva to embrace their vices.

"I have been bestowed such gifts by the Dark Father, that and other talents."

How much to divulge? He too had secrets. Would this errand of hers garner enough esteem to secure tenancy of the Moore House?

"Hello, cousin," Derek says to greet the appearance of Adam among them.

As Derek opens his case to display his equipment, each item stuffed into a hole cut into a foam backing. He gawks a bit at the Sheriff as she finishes getting ready. "W.wow, you look, uh, great, S.Sheriff."

"Oh, um, eyes? I myself never had much talent in it, sorry. Um, about this mark, this Erika woman. Do you think she's ordering these escorts for herself or might she just be a third party that's arranging rendezvous for other figures, people she needs to convince to look the other way or something like that? Not that it really makes a difference, I was just curious in case that became a factor."

Indeed she does, the Sheriff has successfully gotten herself all dolled up.

Please be aware team, any approach you choose to take, I can adapt too. If this premise is not something that people feel comfortable with, IC come up with a different solution and I will adapt as necessary.
