"Huh." Kaze says, apparently a little surprised at Phoenyx's cautious opening. He settles in for a longer period of observations on the woman's fighting style and fighting temperment, as well as Alastor's reaction. He widens his stance and holds his hands behind him as he focuses on the combatants moves and choices.
She had stood back, readying herself for what was to come, but defensive stances were defensive stances. No threat coming back? Give them punishment for not making one worry for their own safety.
The chain snapped out, but it did not strike Phoenyx - rather, it simply snaked around her neck and wrapped around itself. Alastor began tightening the trap, wrapping one end of the chain over his arm and beginning to do the same again to begin squeezing like a python...
Alastor uses Outside Choke (Chain Weapons 3), which is engaging a grapple. I have reduced my attack by 8 for the Dodge doubling your defense and -1 further for supernatural defense from your Life Armor. All Out Attack has been used to establish the choke, dropping Alastor's defense in round 1 to 0 - but it is comes up again in Round 2.
Strength + Brawl - 5 to exit the choke in Round 2!

Whatever Phoenyx was expecting, that wasn't it. The chain lashes out and wraps around her neck Though her composure is holding, one main thought flashes through her brain.
Who uses a chain? Honestly? When will I ever see someone use a chain?
Reflexes kicking in, Phoenyx takes two quick steps directly towards Alastor, creating enough slack to jerk the impromptue noose off her neck, before moving closer to Alastor.1 success
Urgh. Grappling. I always forget the rules. Escaping the grapple is my turn, right? So, yeah. By fortune, Phoenyx escapes.
Cloaked Monthly Rits (in minisheet)All right. She had some talent in grappling, Alastor noted. That was a good thing. His outside choke took some talent to get out of, though it wasn't exceptionally easy. This wasn't about him beating her up - it was about her demonstrating her talents.
"Offense. Maintain pressure."
The chain's whirling continued. What could she do?
Alastor delays to allow Phoenyx to go first in this new round.

Phoenyx hesitated for a fraction of a second, her instinct of turning up the pressure rattling against training of moderation. Her eyes narrow slightly.
Then she takes three rapid steps forward, swinging in the baton upwards to try and avoid the whirling dervish.
It's a fine swing.
I mean, it's not gonna pop defense, but it's a good swing!
Cloaked Monthly Rits (in minisheet)Alastor danced out of the way of the baton strike, the blunt end of the chain snapping down on Phoenyx's arm as he deflected the shot with his own. He held up his hand. The whirling stopped. Apparently, for now, the test was over.
"Not bad. An Arrow should have no preferences, but if you woke up to a Banisher burning your house down and you needed to pick your best, which weapon would you choose?"

From what it seemed, Kaze could handle himself in physical combat, though it all remained to be seen on the magical side. Weavebreaker gave an approving nod to Kaze, as her eyes followed Phoenyx. It would also be interesting to see what she could muster.
Weavebreaker hadn't really seen Alastor in action much. She knew he took care of whoever was in that van, but never saw it actually happen. She was too busy with the other murderer. It was just as interesting to see him at work, as it was for the other two.

Kaze suddenly breaks into a broad smile at Weavebreaker's approving nod, and then quickly nods back, deeply, like a quick bow to her, unlike when he backed away from Alastor after sparring, he does not maintain eye contact with Weavebreaker during his bowing to her.
Standing by Weavebreaker, Kaze seems focused on Alastor and Phoenyx, yet glances to the side more than once as if with unspoken thoughts of things to say or ask...later.

At the edge of the chain snaps down, the only sign of the impact is a twitch on Phoenyx's face. As the Whirling chain stops, she cocks her head slightly, but doesn't drop her guard just yet. "That scenario? Probably this," she nods to the gun, watching the chain carefully. "Not all magic that turns blows turns bullets. But Best?" She pauses, thinking, but keeps her focus on Alastor. "Probably hands," she admits. "I have more experience with them. But I have tried to keep all my combat skills at a competent level." Something flickers across her face. "In case."
Cloaked Monthly Rits (in minisheet)Alastor gave an approving nod. "Good. We should always be ready. Everything is a weapon in the hands of the prepared, and you are prepared." The ex-con gave the chain a flick, whirling it around his own arm into a coil. "What did each of you learn today?"
He glanced to Weavebreaker. The question was for her as well, a tactical analysis exercise that each of them should be doing.
