"I see it. An apartment building about two hundred meters back is on fire, smoking in this direction. People are panicking. The front's clear - which makes me wonder. I don't believe in coincidences when it comes to invisible buildings," the Talon said flatly, smiling absently as the others did their thing. Langdon's quick thinking along with Weavebreaker's Forces had gotten it done. He seemed to be staring off into the distance, hands moving gently through the air as though he was flicking windows in his own Imago. He frowned. "I need a Time guy - is going out the front door a good idea right now? I'm gonna look closer..."

One of the windows, the one with eyes on the building. Alastor turned seasoned investigative eyes onto what he saw. Did this fire appear to be deliberately set?

"It would be great if we had some way of dampening that fire, even if we can't put it all the way out due to improbability," the Mastigos noted. "You should be able to get eyes on from a window on that side now that the smoke is moved out of the way."

Why are all the arrows so bossy, Knot thought as he untied his improvised mask and slipped the wet shirt back on.

"Dude," Knot states in response to Alastor's request, "I don't tell you how to do your thing. And I already checked, reply hazy. Checking the source has potential for good, potential for danger." He flashes a thumbs up at his cabal mate who just totally handled the smoke problem in a moment while he outlines the result of his divination.

Knot goes to the door leading towards the source of the fire, and without leaving the presumed safety of the Circle (and taking the precaution of taking some cover just in case), he looks towards it, and calls down more magic, this time sending spellhooks out along the strings of fate, tugging them this way and that, to reveal the cause of this disruption.

He eased his magical protections, despite the Mastigos' paranoia, it appearered to be a mundane fire. "Oh, might as well call the firefighters and let the professionals handle it, then". He shrugged.

With that knocked out, she moved quickly to Alastor. When she made her way next to him, she got eyes on the fire. She took a moment to drop the spells she had cloaked into her weave, and with the smoke taken care of, she dropped the compelling practice.

Shifting gears, she traced out a run in the air. The image was clear and codified in her mind. The sight she needed to get a better senses of the forces at work. With that, the Supernal will touched down on the Fallen World.

"I'm going to see if I can put it out from here." Weavebreaker said to Alastor.

Weavebreaker studied the fire for a moment and then went about tracing into the air once more. This time, her movements were followed with High Speech. She tried to draw down from the Supernal once more, but the stress of the situation clouded the image in her mind and it failed to take hold. Drawing in a deep breath she closed her eyes for a moment, centering herself.

Her eyes popped open, looking at the matrices that swirled around the window. The electro-magnetic radiation, flowed outward at different wave lengths. She focused once more, visualizing the fire moving out the window. It would flare up, but would not have any fuel outside to last. She traced the symbols once more, with the words in High Speech flowing into her movements. This time, her will was solidified.

Weavebreaker hopped it would be enough. Drawing the fire out and closer towards herself, where it had no fuel. She hoped it would exhaust itself.

Shallow breaths don't stop Langdon from coughing as the air clears. Down side to chanting, you have to breath properly for it. A nod back to Knot as Langdon gets out some more of the smoke.

"Gah that sucked. An apartment building? We have to do something." Eyes slide to Winter in something close to contempt. "We can help them." A hand waves gently in the air. Then a look towards Alastor and Weavebreaker.

"If I can get close I can start turning the air into something that won't feed the fire. Just, don't breath it probably."

Cricket looked between the group of Awakened, all with unbelievable power at their fingertips, debating what to do next. His face scrunched up as time slipped by while they remained hidden in their ivory tower and wholly innocent neighbors were left suffering. At least Langdon was speaking his language. He reached down to loosen his own belt a notch. “Alright, let’s do this then.”

His next words were the chanting of High Speech, he pulled his pocket watch from his pocket while his free hand contorted nimbly through the rote that traced a glowing green glyph above his head. The buzz of insects and lilt of songbirds accompanies it as the glyph descends over him, where it touches his muscles expanding, causing his loose fitting clothing to grow taunt as he filled it out that much more. It was followed by a second, looser chant that brought another glyph to sink into his chest and weave into his pattern.

“Yeah, regular fire or not, those who can – should. If I can help then I’m gunna and there’s a shit ton of time before any professionals get here. But if legit worried this is a smoke out, I say we split the targets.” He let his backpack slide off a shoulder so he could pull from it a holster that he strapped to his thigh to punctuate the point. “I’ve got no problem drawing some attention if you all want to catch up later.”

He hiked his backpack back up into place as he jogged over to the door with Knot, pressing against it opposite the other mage and craning his head to give his own looksie. He wasn’t about to rush out there just yet, but he was getting real antsy just twiddling his thumbs at a distance like this.

The choking smoke is too thick for Alastor to see much, but it is clear that the fire is massive, and burning hot. Not out of the realm of possibility...

...until Weavebreaker pulls on the vortex of all consuming heat, pulling it out into the open air where there was nothing else for it to burn. Surely, this would help tame the fire. That is, if it was a natural fire. Instead, the inferno writhed and twisted like a wounded beast until a new wash of flame burst up the side of the building as though the blaze were a snarling animal lashing out in the direction of that which had wounded it.

Meanwhile, Knot reaches out to pluck the strings of fate, and before long, several pieces of paper begin to blow by, caught upon the inferno's wind, and the Enchanter is able to snatch a few of them up. They're simple pieces of printer paper, yet each bears an image upon it. One image is of a completely random person. The next is an image of Banshee. The third...is an image of Knot. The photographs are not clear, or sharp, but rather something akin to what the paparazzi might snap from some hidden corner or another.

Banshee stares out as the gout of flame snarls and lashes out.

...that wasn't natural.

"Obviously we're going to have to do something about the flame. Look at it. Do you think there's a newly Awakened Obrimos around?" she asks, half hoping that was true, and dreading if it weren't. "Or an old one? I've heard word that there was issues with Seers and Banishers...." she trails off, allowing the thought to settle into the minds of those listening before abandons the window and begins her journey towards the danger, towards the flame. Perhaps even towards Death.

"This," Knot says to the others as he holds the surveillance photos, "wasn't an accident."

"And those," he says, looking at the writhing flames while he tucks the pictures away, "don't look like spell made flames."

As Banshee walks by him, he looks around and grabs a fire extinguisher from it's holder in the wall, before trotting up alongside her. He was going to get the the bottom of this mystery.

"Does it seem," he asks Banshee, "that we're always the only two who make the actual first step into things like this?"
