Hot Coffee

[Seraphina]

Chewing thoughtfully as she listened, “I’d like to visit it someday, see all lights and shows. I know it’s not Vegas, but they have to have shows! They have shows right?” there were casinos, so seemed shows would go hand in hand with that.

Her eyes shift to look at nothing really as she thinks, “Unchanging. Like in your ways, or does it go deeper than that?” blinking a few times, she looks back to John, “Sorry if that’s too personal. Just trying to understand. And get to know you better.”

Adjusting her legs so she was now seated cross legged, “In tunnels? Wow, really? Aside from being creepy, isn’t it, you know, dangerous? I would worry about flooding from rain, but I don’t actually know how much rain they get, so that could all be in my head.” Sip of coffee, bite of cookie. “I also think people are by nature, selfish. A lot of the time, when walking down the street, we are so consumed with our own small problems, we overlook those around us suffering. We often forget how lucky we are to be where we are, we don’t see those with nothing. It’s quite sad actually.” Humanity was in a sad state.

Finally a smile, “I agree! Which is why I want to do whatever I can to help you make this a reality. I especially know how important that second chance is. And sometimes it’s out of reach due to circumstance out of our control. But I think you’re helping put it within peoples reach, it’s amazing.” A nod, he was doing a good thing.

“So that got heavy!” a light musical laugh, “Something lighter! We still have to go swimming sometime! The weather has been perfect for it. We’re still doing that, right?”

Nodding, “You’ve been nothing but supportive of me, I’m happy I can return the favor. Plus, it’s a worthy cause.” Ever since learning about charity work, she had been more focused on such causes.

“Well, I think we have a bit of time before winter.” She jokes with a wink. “But going while it’s still warm out would be a bonus! Any idea where we could go?” she asks with excitement, “Oh! Maybe it could be like a lake or something and we could bring lunch! I suck at cooking, but I’m an expert with takeout menus!”

Grinning and practically bouncing with excitement, "This is going to be great! And it gives me an excuse to go shopping and buy a new bathing suit!" bonus!

Frowning slightly, "Okay," she greatly enjoyed his company and was disappointed to see him leave, "and thanks for the coffee and cookies! Really brightened my day." and she reaches out to give him a hug, if he accepts it that is.
