The sign outside had been in place for a few days as a reminder that they would be closed that evening. During the days of jolliness and parties, it was best to give any regulars a heads up.
Inside the Blue Note had been transformed into a Winter in the Woods sort of scene. Fake trees were brought in and covered with gently falling snow. The tables looked as if they were made of birch wood, set with tableware that appeared to be chipped out from ice. The temperature was chillier than normal, and L'aire hoped people would dress accordingly for the season, even indoors.
It had been nearly a year since Katrin was there. The one Sovereign that had been a constant to their Freehold. Since some of the talk from the Autumn Luncheon, the Dancer knew without a doubt, that Katrin would have put a polite kabosh to that nonsense.
Tonight was a night for the passing of the seasons. Each time, it really did feel like change. Nothing ever seemed routine for L'aire since Terri and then Rick departed for different reasons. The Freehold couldn't afford any more dwindling of numbers. To keep with traditions, the Fairest wore a gown that was between their seasonal colors this time. Was it silver or was it grey, only the Dancer knew.
