It has taken the Kindred some 45 minutes to reach their destination. The night is winding its way to the inevitable dawn, but right now the darkness reigns absolute. Harsh light, yellowed and thick with contrast and deep shadows pockmarked the city as the sped to the Whole Foods Market.
By day, the area would be a commercial hub with warehouses and shopping precincts thick with those who have come to buy and sell. By night the place is barren, almost devoid of life. The shopping precincts are shut tight - islands of light amid the yawning dark void of empty parking lots that drag on, almost forever. It is a lonely place, eerie in its quietude.
A graveyard to capitalism and economies of scale.
The coffee shop would be locked up tight behind the walls of the shopping mall at this hour. It didn't mean that the site was not being watched. But how to make contact across the wide sea of shadow?
