(Spiders) A Corpse in the Copse

The human stumbles, his flesh failing. He reaches out to steady himself on a nearby branch, looking up at the leaves, judging his distance and location, before twitching his left leg and taking two further steps forward, further to the trees.

A few hours later, a strange smell and it has drawn your attention, especially since it is just across the street from your house. It is a strange smell, not the smell of decay, but nor is it the smell of the living. It is some strange, new smell, one you have never smelled before. Of course, this is important, so you run back to the Alpha of your pack.

Puppy comes bounding up to Flidais, concern and surprise and interest and excitement and NEW THING emanating in droves from the animal.

OOC: Sugar i'm terribly late and sorry, didn't see the tag as I hadn't logged into my main account in a while.

Flidais was currently sitting in the hot tub, a feature of TdS which made her choice to join slightly easier to make, it wasn't often she had a day off and was planning to have a relaxing day, watching grass grow, examining water bottles for traces of life, meditating and some TV... She still had to finish Season 1 of Games of Thrones. Clearly that was not to be as Puppy bounded up clearly something on her mind.

"What's up huh? Did you find something? Is something there? Better not be the mailman again... Well let's go see if we have a package." Flidais says to Puppy while getting out of the spa, briefly drying herself off and putting on a loose dress she had waiting for when she got out. First she would head down to the front door and see if anyone was there waiting and if nothing was there she would get some shoes on, grab her; phone, keys, magical tool and knife and then head out with Puppy to see what is on her mind, slightly suspicious that this whole thing is a ruse from the Shepherd to try and get another walk for the day.

Puppy jumps excitedly as his alpha takes her time, his impatience making him act like his namesake, bouncing around the house.

He leads her out, minding his training, but clearly insistent on the New Thing.
He leads her past some trees on the abandoned property across the street. He sniffs, keeping his nose close to the ground, hunting for the smell. He passes a bush, and turns and stops, cocking his head and whining, pointing with his nose behind the bush.

Flidais was starting to get a bad feeling as she progressed further, she shook her head briefly confused and gave herself a cloaked shield, something she normally had done by that time in the day.

She pushes aside the bushes, and finds a young man, lying facedown in the dirt and grass. He is not breathing. He is wearing a yellow polo shirt and jeans, along with leather shoes.


She also notes an old couple walking their dog a few streets down. She recognizes them from her own walks for Puppy, and they have a habit of passing by her Street. She has maybe 10 minutes until they get to the area.

Flidais gives a calm but very quick pat to Puppy's head but then jumps back into work.
"Good Girl."
With a hand gesture Flidais instructed Puppy to wait trusting in her faithful companion to have her back while she quickly inspected the man, aware of the time she had, hoping that is was not a body.

You check pulse for 10 seconds, he has none. His body is cold, so you stop checking. You find no bloodstains or obvious signs of death. The skin feels waxy and stiff. Puppy continues to insist there is something different and new about this, something not seen in a typical dead body.

Flidais needed to know what was going on, dead people generally don't just appear out of nowhere and Puppy had seen a body before, it was not like her to act this way. Worried about supernatural foul play she starts a more thorough investigation, cheating with a bit of magic to speed things up.

Sense life would be considered by some an unusual spell to cast, but she was hoping that by taking a measure of the person's internal flora and fauna it might help her get a better idea of when he died or possibly what killed him, also a festering wound not immediately visible would be teeming with microscopic life. With her new senses active she would also try and determine the cause of death.

There is a smattering of life that covers his outer skin and clothes that is consistent with most humans, but the inside... something is deeply wrong. Only a few microbiota remain in his system. The gut is nearly totally antiseptic, with only a few in the mouth, posterior pharynx, urethra, and anal cavitiy.

In 5 minutes of examining the body, you can determine no clear cause of death. You will need to spend more time. You do however, notice that the head feels lighter than you would expect. Most notably, the body is in rigor mortis, so Time of death is at least 3-4 hours ago, but sooner than likely 24-48 hours.

Flidais was deeply disturbed at this point, she could start to hear the call of the wilds in the back of her mind as she tried to speed up her thought processes by letting the adrenalin comfortably take root in her body. She needed more time, or someone faster... She whips out her phone and sends off a series of texts to Truce and Crowley, something about her hurting herself should let them know something was up, since when would a shaman like her be stuck with an injured ankle. Looking around and if she can spare 9 seconds she will try and scrutinise the corpse with her magic senses as well as briefly search for a wallet or ID of some sort, before letting the bush once again conceal the body while she waits for her pack. She needed more info... Would this death breach the veil if it got to the authorities? The lack of stomach bacteria might be put down to some form of poison, but then again... maybe not. Regardless Truce should be able to get the information quicker and fix up any veil breeches on the body... hopefully. Of course she will take precautions to avoid leaving anymore evidence on the body then she already would have in a normal finding.
