On the other side of the door, relative silence does not greet Termoins du Sud. The chamber that they return to isn't just filled with banal Lies that the Sleepers pass off as education, with walls that are more windows than walls, and lamps and tables to sit at.

Rabbit struggles as she is grappled by a compact looking man in his forties, dressed in custodial gear, a manic gleam in his eye and a knife to Rabbit's throat.

“No, I don't know what you are talking about!” Rabbit squeaks out.

They are waiting for the intruding Magi to appear. They are deliverers of a message. They are His Hammer. And They believe.

Others are of varying ages, a student with short puckish hair sits on a table, her left knee drawn up casually. Another is a nerd with greasy hair, bags under his eyes, and a slouch to his posture. The last one a guy who idly cracks his knuckles and a zealous bearing.

“It's about time,” the zealot calls to the Magi, “that you stepped out of our Library. Finished your rituals to defile our work?”

A nod to the compact man, and the janitor slits Rabbit's throat.

It's not as fast as it is in the movies. A slash to the throat is not an instant death. Rabbit grabs at the gash, blood – so much blood – flies into the air. Her skin grows more and more ashen as she falls to her knees; trying desperately to keep herself alive. Bleeding out is an achingly painful process.

The Cell of Banishers are set themselves up to fight.

Greasy haired geek, is obviously the fastest in the group; somehow. But he holds his action ready to counterspell any of the opposing group. His pattern heavy with paradox to his form.

Geek is ready to counter-spell the first offensive spell from the magi.

Fuck that!

Crowley's lips move as he mentally dives into the stream of time and fights against the tide. All he needs is to step back a few and warn his comrades.

Then they can fight. Or run... Another way.

-1 Mana. Spell is Vulger so some pretty nift Slo-Mo effects are going to start going off around him. For reference, Crowley's plan is rewind time a little bit and hopefully stop his Cabal blinding walking into the trap prepared for them!

Crowley gains a Paradox causing his spell to go Havoc. Only Crowley's wisdom keeps the spell from spiraling out of control.

The Greasy Geek moves on instinct, finding Crowley's threads quickly and putting them down like a lame horse. Whatever it was that the Faithless Mage did, will harm no one.

ST Notes

First of all, Crowley, it takes entire turns of chanting to gain the bonus to High-Speech in Combat. Second of all, you should know by now that it is the player who must roll Paradox if they intend on dropping Vs. And it is on the player to write in the Action Line how they are mitigating, if at all.

Also, always tag who is next in combat init order.

Already the spells are popping in an out of existence to Truce's Unseen Senses, Crowley's Nimbus flaring momentarily before being snuffed out. He grows pale, though not as pale as Rabbit, seeing her throat sliced open and the spread of blood over her chest. Though she is a selfish thief, he doubts she deserves this fate. There is no room for parley or negotiation now, only fight or flee.

One thing is certain, they are not ready for this fight. Truce crafts the Imago to envelop his comrades in shielding. Whatever action they take will require some protection.

Nostrils flare and the Zealot runs at Crowley first, a wicked gleam glinting in the light. “Scourge!” the Zealot cries out, the siren song of battle and a maniacal grin on his lips. The knife drills itself down into Crowley, slowing down on the way as the force of it dies against the constant of entropy and Truce's quick thinking.

It isn't enough.

The force is too fast and too strong to kill it all and the knife drills itself into Crowley's shoulder.

Not to be outdone, the Janitor springs into action. His punch, fueled by will and his own, twisted idea of heroism pushes through the wall Truce gives Einstein. It hurts, and it'll leave a bruise, but it hurts a lot less than it could have.

“I smell you,” The short-haired girl says languidly. “Hellfire”

Loping steps carry her off to Truce, deftly avoiding the tables. Her knife is easily avoided, catching clothing and ripping it with a childlike glee.

Rabbit was dead. Silver lining. She wasn't a spy.

Everything else about that sucked. The blood made Einstein freeze for a second. So much blood. She wasn't used to seeing so much of that. A distant part of her remembered it was part of the Lie, but the rest of her, the part that was still human, only noticed that there was blood, and now people were trying to kill her.

The spells she'd been using to hide their auras fell away from her focus like leaves from a rose, as Einstein shed them to lend herself greater focus. The magic from Truce helped keep her safe, but she felt the punch from the man anyway. She considered running, just for a second. After all, they were outnumbered, and probably outgunned. On the other hand, they were Banishers - chances were they wouldn't be swinging too much magic around, besides what was absolutely necessary. While she, on the other hand, had no such limitation.

Hands swung, reality reforming to match her will, and Einstein drew into reality the pure fire of the Angels, to burn away the true abominations in the room.

A spark of light flew languidly from Einstein's hands to touch the Janitor, less like the holy burning anger of an agent of creation, and more like a spark from a cigarette.

It's a bolt out of the blue. White, intense fire ignites from Einsten's fingers, briefly illuminating the Obrimos' face from below, reflecting in the woman's eyes. The aimed working of the Libertine's will lances through the air and grazes the Janitor, destroying cloth and singing the skin beneath.

The smell of burning flesh, faint, begins to waft around the room.

The Greasy Haired Geek, holds his action waiting for the next spell he can rip and tear. He will do his part to destroy the monsters who have dared enter this sacred space.

Shock and dismay burst like exploding stars in the Enchanter's mind. Still in the now. Still facing dire enemies. The sharp scream of a puncture wound; the unsubtle sensation of blood being drawn; clothes clotting an gaining unaccustomed weight.

Crowley growls and lashes out at his opponent, unthinking, with a balled fist. He throws his weight behind the punch, hoping to strike a telling blow.

Truce lets out a sharp breath of air in approval as he sees his Cabalmates take to the offensive. They will not get away with murder so easily. Though by Rabbit's grasping at her throat on her knees, he knows she is still clinging to life.

"Put pressure on it!" yells Truce across the room to the dying Sleepwalker, perhaps a last-ditch instruction to delay the inevitable while they dealt with her murderers.

Truce, meanwhile, performs another willworking as the knife's edge comes close to him. He won't make it far to Rabbit if his own throat gets sliced open.

Truce's words fall on deaf ears. When a person is bleeding out, the body tries everything it can to keep itself from dying. It shuts off eyesight, then the ears, and even tactile feeling starts to disappear. Rabbit's fingers grow slack from the added weight and her own loss of feeling. It's safe to say that she couldn't hear the Moros even if she tried.

The transformation is on.

Greasy haired Banisher reaches out as Truce begins to cast and pulls on the threads. Like a rug, or a sock coming undone the shield that the Moros attempts to put on himself, unravels.

Counterspell Prime (Subtracts from Spell Pot)2 successes

Undeterred and, in fact, encouraged the Banisher smiles in Crowley's face. It's a mark of bravado and, to the Broken man's mind, a confirmation that what he is doing is, in fact, correct. Another slash at the Enchanter catches nothing but air.

Likewise, the Janitor in Einstein's face attempts to bring his fist down on the teacher, but it is telegraphed allowing the Obrimos to step out of the way.

Unlike her brethren, the girl with the bobbed hair and sleepy eyes uses the chance afforded by her greasy haired compatriot and gives Truce a vicious slash.
