Aeneas snorted and chuckled.

"Uh. Nope. They says they claim some parks and shit on both sides of the river." He shrugged. "They's welcome." His mouth puckered and twisted sourly.

Chris definitely felt like he should have been taking notes but does everything he can to remember as much of what he has heard as possible. It sounded far more like some old folklore or pre modern epic, except from the way they told it the dire event happened far more recently. It was unnerving anytime he had to remember that he had basically been biologically drafted into a war that he didn't even know existed. Chris interrupts their talk about the men in the middle, "How do we protect ourselves from them!?"

He glances toward Aeneas as he answers his question. It shouldn't have surprised him, but it would have been nice to hear that someone tried to make contact with that odd pack. Well, I guess everyone is pretty much expecting some kind of other shoe to fall from them.

"Well, you already took the first step. You are joining Chuck's pack, right? Safety in numbers is a good place to start." Kevin calmly points out to Chris.

Chris nods his head in agreement, "Right right" but could he really trust strangers to protect him from other strangers? There was something innately symbolic about being in a pack, not just some over hyped friendship or coillision individuals who fancied themselves a pack, no this was the real deal which meant that not only would they be expected to fight for him when shit hit the fan, but he would also be called upon to do the same. Chris sank inwardly, there was just no way he could be of any real use when danger came, and when it did he would be outed as a coward and most likely removed from the packs protection, then where would he go? "What uh, pack do you belong to?" he asked.

"Ah. Ol' Aeneas here and Kings End... we run with them thar Granite Watchtower." The Irraka gestured to himself and his packmate with a jerk of the head. "We's looking to move into downtown... and around there. 'Cause its free, like. Hell everyone making a claim o' land south of the river naow. Or they should... If no-one takes them thar huntin' grounds, the Anshega will think they can claim 'em again."

"So that's what we do? We claim land and protect them from the Anshega. Forever?" he says with a troubled hesitation. Was this really going to be it for him? Was there really no way for him to get his life back, surely there had to be more to it than this. Who the fuck would ever agree to this kind of life? So what if the Anshega took over, Chris had managed to make it this far in life without even knowing of their existence, what difference would it really make if they just let him go home, it wasn't like he was going to be of any use to them anyway.

"Not just the Anshega, boy." Aeneas shook his head. "We's tend the land. We make our huntin' grounds what we will. Haw! 'Cause, like, its our sacred trust.... ah... handed to us from great papa wolf and ma moon, ye ken? The hunt is sacred... special. Our lands are our garden. We tend 'em. We keep the spirits in line so they don't mess with the herd. And we make sure the stupid herd don't mess with them spirits. Herd ain't meant for the shadow lands. Nossir! They ain't."

The Irraka bobbed his head like his explanation set forth their world perfectly.

Kevin nods his head in agreement with the explanation Aeneas gives Chris. "That's the dream, not that it become reality much. We're Uratha, the day all Spirits bow at our feet is the day the Anshega will wear pink tutus and dance the can-can." He remarks with a snort, pretty much meaning that it won't ever be happening.

"As for my pack, I currently don't belong to one and it kind of looks like those I had hoped to recruit don't look like they'll be making an appearance." He remarks.
