All of the five senses are important for certain things. Taste for good food and drink, hearing for jokes and communication, and vision? Right now vision was for not dieing horribly in your crappy van. When the windshield turned clear as steel the van went screeching to a halt.
And now it was just sitting there. There was some swift movement away from the windows, and then stillness. The van sat idle with the engine still on in the middle of the road.

Highly. Effective. Individuals. They totally sing Bon Jovi while bringing fleeing passenger vehicles to a raging stop. Didn't everyone know? He arced the bike in a slow circle around it, the brought it to a puttering stop beside it. Beside? Yep. Because front or back, it could get run over. Having his bike run over by a van? Super sub-optimal.
"We could, like, uh. I don't know. Wait them out?" He whispered over his shoulder.
Or light it on fire. That would get them out. But, seriously, over the top much?
A hand gripped the cold, dull piece of steel that Zoey had lent him, and he gave Avis a Seriously Unsure look. Because unsure. This? Not really his forte. He wasn't even sure they'd done anything wrong.
"Or call the others?"
Van, yo. It could be packed with a S.W.A.T. team. Majorly inconvenient.
He felt exposed. Would rolling under the van be weird? He could still be effective. Because ankles.

"What, so you're all John Wayne window changer a second ago, but unsure now?" Avis' muffled voice challenged behind him, an odd note to the muffle suggesting that perhaps she was actually smiling beneath the helmet.
Truthfully, she had questions to ask. Questions like: if the window was still unchanged, did that mean they weren't all that sleepy in the van? She didn't know, but now wasn't the time to debate it.
"I'm gonna hop off. If they move, you move. I'll find you. Much easier than the van," she said after another few seconds, deciding that action would win them the day, not being indecisive.
So the helmet came off a moment later, and then Avis hopped off the bike and stalked up near the window. Not walked, stalked. If they were armed inside the van, getting shot through a window was the last damn thing she wanted. First though, her eyes and her body needed some extra help. Help which did not fucking come, not at first. Stupid fucking van, making her all anxious, and it hard to focus. She tried again, anger fueling her Will, and the spells popped into place. Thus armed, she eased up by the window to study the occupants. Ok, maybe not study.
"Hey, motherfuckers, get out of the van!" she ordered.

The van waited for them. It was sitting still as the motor continued to run.
Then Avis drew on the power of Pandemonium, and she could see the colors of the emotions of the other people on the street. A mottled orange aura danced around the people looking at Star. Beneath the orange though light greens and a few violet auras peak through to the surface, though they are equally mottled.
There went the neighborhood.
When she goes to peak into the van she sees nothing though. No dancing colors, no signs of movement. She could see clear to the other side of the van and no one was in front, while the back was filled with odd but immobile shapes.

The moment called for a fantastic John Wayne quote.
That thing about life being tougher when you were stupid? Debatably appropriate, pilgrim. He also had no idea why throwing 'pilrim' into a sentence immediately John Wayne'd it. File under Movie Night. Welp. He'd just wasted the quotable moment thinking about the word 'pilgrim', hadn't he? He nodded. Seriously. The serious nod. Wasn't this when Action Heroes forcibly chambered a round? You know. Jacked the slide back with that authoritative motion and metal sound that just screamed out Serious Business?
He'd look pretty stupid looking around for a bullet if there was already one in the pipe that went flying out onto the street.
When I move you move. Just. Like. That.
Hey...? Okay, so they were going the direct route.
His hand tightened on the gun as he looked around at the onlookers, keeping it low in the body of the bike.
...
Well.
That was anticlimactic.
Because nothin'.
They could always slide under it, turn the bottom transparent, and look up. But. What if there was a chick inside? Wearing a dress? Pervy. He pointed at himself, wiggled his fingers, and made an opening gesture. Locks aren't a thing, yo. He gave a skeptical shrug. Caution? Definitely a thing.
Honestly? Watching Avis yell obscenities at the van? Kind of entertaining.

"There's fucking no one in the van," Avis yelled to Star, incredulously. "Let's check it out before," she cut off, bringing her hand up to her chest and flashing a quick five and then a circle toward Star. Between herself and the body of the van, the gesture should be pretty well concealed. Cause people were freaking on the street badly enough without someone giving them the idea to start dialing nine-one-one.
Then she tried the door. Sure, it was probably locked, but it would be silly to waste time if it wasn't.

The door, much to no one's surprise, is locked.

So, this is what epiphanastic moments feel like.
He filed that away, re-purporsing the hamster wheel to a mental image of tumbler turning over, disengaging the lock.
Him? He didn't think it was empty for a second. The van was totally a box. And every Illusionist knows what goes in the box, stays in the box. Perception, yo. Sure, Space was a thing? Pop. Quiz. If there was that much Space, why van?
His hand revolved in the Try Again gesture.
Oh.
And, hey? Please don't get shot.

The hamster wheel spins, and the mages hear that low click as the door unlocks itself.

Now that the door was unlocked Avis reached out to try it again, glad, for once, that her expertise wasn't needed. Except, she paused for a sec. There were lumpy shapes in the back. They had no aura's sure, but that might not mean shit. There were ways to deal with that. Well, fine, Avis had ways to deal with that! She through her senses wide, like sonar pinging out, and then pulled open the door to the van. She crawled inside, hands and eyes quickly casting about for something sharp, something to become a sword once she'd ventured far enough inside to allow Star in as well. Her hands came up with a little knife. A weighted one. Didn't it look familiar?
Avis cast Sense Consciousness.
