The sweet, fragrant smells of roses mixed with lilacs emanate from her as she casts magic. The scent intensifies, bordering on intoxicating, when Life magic is cast. When Aurora casts Vulgar magic, the scent takes a nasty turn, to the putrid, nauseating odor of a rotting corpse. The stronger the magic, the more those around want to retch at the smell.

Damn! Not only could Jack dance, but the guy could sing! She clapped as he finished his song, that was pretty impressive.

When he returned to the table, “Damn, you can dance AND sing! Awesome job up there.” She had to give the guy props, props were due.

Then Aurum decided to take the stage, so Faye takes another pull from her beer. Hey, courage had to come from somewhere right?

Ok, so Aurum wasn’t as good as Jack, but hey, it took some guts to get up there and sing. There was some clapping for her and a smile,

“Way to go girl!” she says.

As she was about to stand, Ellie surprised her and took the stage. Hey, that works, more liquor courage.

It wasn’t a song she was expecting, but adding some newer music broke up the steady 80s music. And, well, yah, Ellie wasn’t all that good. But hey, she did it, and that gets a clap and a cheer.

Holding up her beer in salute, “Props girl!” she said with a smile.

And, well, guess that made it her turn. Another quick drink of the beer and up she was, heading to the stage. She could do this, totally, and if she bombed, then well, whatever. It would just mean she would never add singing to her act.

Can’t say she didn’t try, though it was safe to say singing was not her thing.

And once the song was done, she made her way back to the table, and laughed at herself.

Much like Zoey, Avis sat quietly through the first few songs and the light chatter of the Awakened around her. Mainly she was trying to get used to being the room with so many people, people getting fucked up, people who you might not want to turn your back to. Of course, the thought of a banisher shanking her or someone else wasn't the only thing she was worried about. There was Star's unfortunate taste in music, and then there was the hot chick offering to buy him drinks. Well, buy them all drinks. Whatever. Something about that still bothered her. She didn't even feel guilty about just nodding to the woman's greeting, brushing off the social overture. Even though she was sitting at a social event, at a social location, socializing just didn't seem that appealing right now.

She should have sat next to Zoey.

Of course, Zoey wouldn't have brought drinks. Drinks which Avis surreptitiously sniffed before taking a sip from the clear one. Which was water, thank--uh, thank the Oracles. Or whoever.

Whatever. It was just a confusing night. She should have stayed home. But, then again, she'd already come here, already used her Will to make this something she could do. Was she really going to back out and just sit meekly in the corner? Nah, Aurum had it right. Just get it over with. Of course, for that she'd need a song. After Elle had gone up to sing Avis grabbed the book of music to choose from and started frantically flipping through it. There were so many groups she didn't know, so many artists she couldn't even remember hearing. One stood out, though. One song that was damn hard to forget, even if it was going to be damn hard to sing.

Avis scurried over to sign up while Faye sang, and then climbed onto the stage when the Vox was done. "Hey, nice job," she mumbled as she passed the other woman, a brief nod accompanying the statement just in case it got lost in the noise of the bar. Then, it was just Avis on the stage. Mic in hand, music in the air. Her gut was tight and her ribs still feeling like vices, but the first slide of the guitar into the upper register was like a whip spurring into the performance. A large breath in broke the vice and then the rolling riff was joined by the drums and she prepared herself to sing, eyes glued to the lyrics screen. When the dot bounced over the first word and her voice suddenly broke out of her throat into the microphone, she almost didn't realize it was her. But it was, and the music itself was incentive to continue the song. Her performance wasn't great, not as noteworthy as Star's, or held as much bravado as Elle or Eric's renditions, but she definitely didn't sound like a tone deaf seagull and she explicitly thanked the Oracles for that.

When her song was done she put the mic back on its stand and rejoined the rest. "So, who's next?" she asked, eyes roving between Zoey and Asp while she took a drink of water. Ann Wilson she was not, and her throat was just now reminding her, magic or no.

    "Zoey"
    Sheet

If her messenger bag has been mentioned, Zoey is carrying an old leatherbound journal, two bottles of gatorade and a waterbottle, a change of clothing, a second small pistol, a couple of snacks and a variety of miscellaneous objects. Don't question a woman's purse.

The look that Zoey gave Avis said worlds full of words. But in case they didn't, she vocalized them. "Don't even look at me. Like hell am I going up there and singing." Hell. No.

What did people expect from her, for crying out loud? She wasn't here to sing. There wasn't even something she wanted to sing, was there? Her hands tightly gripped at her drink before she shot it back. She wasn't getting up there. She wasn't drunk enough. She wasn't motivated enough. Or...

She took a brief look at Asp, then at the others, and her brows furrowed.

    She didn't... ugh.

Taking the microphone from Avis, she made her way up to have a song punched in. She could have augmented herself. She could have put some effort in. She could've given two shits. But she didn't. She wasn't even going to admit that she had a bit of stage-fright, and it was with closed eyes that she sung.

Her choice of song was more mellow, a bit laid back, and despite Zoey's general demeanour, and her terrible singing, it was clear that she'd chosen something that she in some way felt attached to. Both her face and body were reasonably expressive as she sang, a foot clearly tapping to keep the beat.

The moment the song ended, though, she quickly set the microphone down and made her way immediately to the bar, without so much as looking at the table. Nope. Nooooope. Nope nope nope. Alcohol. Right the fuck now. That was going to be a thing.

      Failure to sing. Unsurprised.

    Asp

Booze went down the hatch as the night went on and Asp watched as each singer went up for their turn. She cheered loudly for Star - holy shit, he was good! As each other singer went up, the rookie Arrow paid them equal attention, cheerleading for each with loud applause and whistles. Even Zoey. It wasn't about being good at karaoke. It was about having fun. She bought a round for the table, too. She didn't have much money, but hey. Everyone else was doing it.

When Aspen was finally called, she stood up with a grin at her friends. She was three drinks in, and was feeling pretty good right now. It was time.

"Man, I'm starting to feel... some country coming on."

Were there groans? Didn't matter. The Obrimos was already on her way up to the stage.

    Introduction time.

    "Let's go, girls."

The best part about being a woman? The prerogative to have a little fun.

Wooooo! He wasn't sure, but that was a shower-worthy performance, from where he was standing. Just hope no one like the original so much they didn't want to hear a spin on it. He'd dodged bottles, before. Tampa, yo. He hadn't dodged all of them, though. Ow.

Just don't ever ask what the guy that threw the bottle had found himself drinking later that made him started throwing up. Tell. No. One.

He grinned at the shiny little goth as they passed, offering a thumbs up as she took the stage. His head ducked slightly in embarrassment at Faye's compliment and he took a long drink from his water. Moderation and hydration, yo. Each singer got a solid round of applause and thumbs up, good, bad, and ugly. Because fun. No talent scouts, jussssst fun.

And Zoey? Surprised. Legit, totally. Aaaaaaand straight to the bar.

A smile snuck out at Avis, maybe even more surprised. But, why? Fearless. He wondered if she knew what the song was about. It'd be kind of cool if she did -- at least he'd have had a Deeper Meaning partner in crime on the mic. Quiet, though? Where was the Warlock that had peeled him off the wall and thrown him into Arrowlympics?

    "You all, are awesome,"
he offered, holding up his water in a toast and looking around at each.

    "Even the Rick Roller,"
    he added with a laugh.

"You, uh, you all want to play a game?"

He took a drink, glancing at Asp, then moving on to Avis. It was her game. Gotta check. Just in case it was a VT Special Only Thing. If not? He'd offer up something else. A slightly curious look and tiny cock of his head was tacked on the end. Club-ese for, We Can Ditch. If she wanted. Didn't look like there was a lot of fun having going on there.

But seriously? If they were going to play? One liners. Limits, yo.

"Rick Roller?" Avis asked, brow furrowed in confusion. "And what kind of game?" Her expression slid from confusion to blatant suspicion. A game wasn't a bad idea. Maybe then they would be sitting around like alternatively drunken or bashful sheep, but given where they were there was no way in hell Avis was going to agree to something before she knew the terms.

Aurum couldn't help but return Star's grin and thumbs up. She didn't know why, but it seemed to help her relax a bit. It reminded her of the goofy guy that Madison had hung out with earlier that day, before things got weird and complicated with his friends.

When she was finished with her song she took her seat again and worked on finishing off a third drink. The goth was definitely beginning to feel the effects of the alcohol. She grinned happily at the others as they each took to the stage cheering and clapping for everyone, especially the ones that hadn't performed as well like Nous or Zoey. All that mattered was that they all had fun and she wanted them to feel good about their performances too.

Madison got a pat of encouragement from Aurum as she came down from her song. "Great job!"

However, when Zoey stood up to sing Aurum laughed with delight. "Yeah! that's what I'm talking about! Go Zoey!"

The goth even laughed and encouraged Asp despite the country song, because Shania was pretty sexy and the lyrics were kind of catchy even if she didn't like the music much. So by the time Asp was done Aurum had polished off her second drink and a bottle of water.

"Rick roller? That's Eric of course!"
Aurum said helpfully in response to Avis and her question. Then feeding off Avis she turned a suspicious eye to Star.

"Game? It could be fun. What kind of game?"
she asked in a noncommittal fashion.

    "Hey, karaoke fail sisters!"

She attempts to high five Zoey as she comes back to the table. There's a whole load of sarcasm in her congratulations, and she's not trying to make anyone feel good about anything at all. She's just being. She's having the fun she's making for herself. She actively avoids the rest of the congratulatory circle-jerk.

"If this game involves drinking with purpose, I'm in."

    She pauses a moment.

"Unless it involves taking clothes off, because there's not enough balance to this melting pot, and not enough booze in the bar to make me forget that."

Too many women, not enough men. Or maybe it's the homogeny of the mental types. You know how Guardians get. Or maybe there's just a stereotype about how Guardians get. Not that she's been broadcasting her allegiance to keeping the curtains drawn.

    "Yeah, so more drinks?"

She flips the book of songs open again and glances back and forth sideways at the rest of the group of awakened.

As Avis went up and gave it a shot, Faye cheers for her. Sure, she wasn’t the greatest, but hell, this was about having fun and the guts to try it.

And then, wait, Zoey, miss irefusetoparticipatesourpuss, gets up there and sings?! No way! She gets the same amount of cheering and smiles as the others. She defiantly didn’t see that coming.

Country was certainly not her type of music, but what Aspen sang was kinda catchy. And she cheers for her.

She was in agreement with Jack, and raises her drink to salute everyone.

Then the idea of a game was brought up. An eyebrow is raised as she debates how well a game could go with people drinking.

“I’m not going to say yes…or no to a game until I know what it is. Cause it has to be fun.” She added.

Ermac was impressed with the Awakened company's singing. He expressed his congratulations to each singer in turn.

When it came time for a game, like Madison, he held some reservations. While he was not trained in Life Arcana, he could handle more than the average. "I'd like to know what kind of game." Asleep or Awake, when "games" came into the conversation, things could become very..."interesting."
