Mrs. Rosemary's advice echoed through Rook's head.

    Watch your tongue.

Well, he might be in a lot of trouble, but it was still probably better than risking dream-manipulation again. After what had happened last time... no, he would not put himself in that position again. He glanced over at Jack. Hopefully, the five of them would be able to do what needed to be done. Enzo seemed to keep slipping through their fingers.

His rigid hands flexed, and his chequered mantle flared as he imagined what he would do to the instigators of this... cattle trade... once he got hold of them.

Let them pick on someone their own size, for once.

Stripes was right behind the Constable, having found himself swept up in the momentum of the hunt without even realizing it. Now that they had apparently arrived at there destination the tiger looked around to the others.

In all honesty all Stripes had been interested in was making sure that higher authorities in the freehold were aware of what he'd found near his hollow. Now here he was following one of said authorities into...into...

"Um...What we doing here anway?" Stripes wondered aloud to the others.

His confusion was somewhat understandable having just joined with them.

As they get out of his car and start to make their way under the bridge, Jack tries to hide his intense nervousness about their impending journey from Rook. Although few would guess, the wizened actually has an intense phobia where the Hedge is concerned. He mentally steels himself for the trip to the other side as he walks beneath the pedway, reminding himself that innocent people are being led like lambs to the slaughter toward a fate he considers worse than death. Unable to comprehend how one of their own like Enzo could ever sink to the depths of behaving like one of them, the good doctor swallows his weaker emotions, such as fear, anger, or sadness, and focuses on his desire to stop the vile privateers and rescue their hapless victims... from becoming like him.

What did she say... in the shadow on the water? Is that right?"

Rook might detect a slight glimmer of trepidation lingering in Jack's voice. Then again... he's an elemental, so he might not. Stripes just met him, so he probably wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Jack turns his head and speaks over his shoulder to the beast.

We're trying to find out where the privateering sunovabitch with the dinosaur is selling his victims. Figured the Fleshmarket would be a good place to start."

Pull up near Jack's car, Otto kills his jeep and jumps out with Xerxia.

"Dinosaur. Of course he has a dinosaur." Otto mutters, fishing out his pack of American Spirits and lights up a soothing cigarette.

Taking a drag, Otto walks up to Rook, Jack and Stripes. I can't believe I'm asking this...how big is the dinosaur?

"That's what she said," Rook confirmed, frowning at the water. The narrowing of his steel eyes were invisible behind the sunglasses. "Everyone ready to head in?" He didn't see Jack's trepidation. Although the chess piece was getting to know the Doctor quite well, he simply couldn't read people who were restraining themselves. If he had known how much trouble Jack was having, he wouldn't have put him in this position.

"Since he used to ride it, apparently, I'd guess at least horse-sized. Probably bigger. It's a dinosaur," Rook answered Otto, his eyes still on the water.

Of all things, the dinosaur was probably what Rook was looking forwards to.

He'd never punched out a dinosaur before.

Stripes wasn't usually one to try and read people. Spending what should have been his teenage years as a wild beast had definitely crippled some of the Tiger's ability to understand when folks were hiding things and so he didn't even try to look past Jack's confidence. Instead, Stripes pounded his fist into an open palm with a smile.

"So, what the plan?" He asked, baring his claws in anticipation.

Tracking down privateers and dinosaurs? The hunt was on and Stripes was itching for a fight...

Xerxia strolls up after making sure everything she might need was secured where it normally was.

To answer Stripes' question, she offers as kindly as she can muster, "Like Mrs. Rosemary said... Watch your words with extreme care, or just keep quiet... I've only just started looking into binding agreements, so while I might be able to spot a particularly dangerous word choice, don't rely on me to be able to worm you out of one."

The Fairest does seem to have some concerns about the trip ahead, being a relatively new sort of encounter in the Hedge to her. Fighting monsters and B-begs are completely different from negotiating in a probably hostile environment... I welcome the challenge..!

Rook looked down at his rippling reflection in the water. He could see every dulled steel edge, every little, fortified detail. Like a mirror. He always felt faintly ridiculous trying to step over into the Hedge. Kneeling down, he touched the water.

"Let me in," he muttered, and felt the Wyrd surge through him. It felt wrong not to call up the armour he usually wore when stepping into a situation like this. As if he'd gone out without his sunglasses.

    Or his clothes.

As Rook finished saying those words, the shadow being cast on the water began to glow faintly. The Elemental could feel the cool water touching his fingers being changed by the Wyrd. The gate opened shortly thereafter, inviting him to jump in. The rest of the group could also see the faint glimmer, outlining the shape of the hidden gate.
