The Sacramento Opera was located within the Communal Hunting Zone. The Toreador dressed to impress. A black BMW rolled down the street to pick up Madame Yui. He glanced about searching for the Japanese Kindred.
Rina was waiting on the edge of the street, wearing a much more noticeable ensemble. Though the dress she was wearing was rather simple, and none too revealing, it was the color that would immediately grab anyone's attention. For no apparent reason, and most likely to the surprise of anyone who knew the Asp, she had opted to wear a hot pink dress.
As the Toreador pulled up in his BMW, Rina approached him quickly, not stumbling despite the relative highness of her heels, and offered him a polite smile as she walked up to the side of the car. "Hello, Mister de Cordoba."
As the Kindred approached, the Beast lurched to the forefront in hunger. Que delicisio. No. He silenced the murderous instinct. No.
A wide smile spread across his mouth, showing white teeth. He set the car in park and exited. A true gentleman, he walked around the front to greet her, "What a lovely dress you have, Miss Yui." Then he reached for the handle, pulling open the door. With a hand across his waist and a bow, "Ladies first."
Rina offers him another smile and gets into the car carefully, settling into her seat and looking around in the car. She'd seen better, but it was a nice car. Acceptably modern.
She smoothed down her dress. The Shadow had chosen such a showy, noticeable dress precisely for that reason. The break from normalcy was entertaining, and for a night like this, she had to choose a reasonable color, one that wouldn't make it appear as if she was going to try to kill someone at the first chance she got.
Cordoba closed the door and returned to the driver's seat. Clicking his seat belt into place, he shifted the transmission into first gear. "It should only be a few minutes drive to the Opera," he informed her with a pleasant tone. Taking a quick glance at her face, "How have you been?"
Rina looked at him slowly, acknowledging his words about the time. She was a little more interested in trying to figure out what "Romeo and Juliet" was about than small talk. Obviously, it was about two individuals by the names of Romeo and Juliet, and she vaguely remembered something about it being related to romance.
"I have been well."
She was a woman of few words. That much he knew from Court. "That is good to hear," still cheerful as ever. He turned the corner and stopped at the red light. "I imagine you'd like to hear about this play." On the phone she did mention she knew of it. "I remember from our conversation you liked romance stories." A jovial smile, "This one is a classic story."
Rina offered him a small smile, it was as if he'd read her mind.
"Oh? How so?"
He flashed a flirtatious grin as the light turned green. "Without spoiling too much, it's a story of two young star-crossed lovers caught between their families' feud."
The next red light. "We're almost there."
"Sounds...overdone. I believe I've seen that in a thousand different novels, good and awful. What makes this one unique?"
Rina simply didn't understand. An already-seen, overblown story. It couldn't possibly have anything new to offer, could it? She'd seen the same story, with a different name of course, several times over a century before, in Japan, when her mistress had wanted to go to the theatre.
