A chuckle, “I hadn’t planned on it. Not exactly a place high up on my places to visit in Sacramento. Though it did mention cancer, but I don’t want to go seek cancer patients just to hunt down these spirits unless we have to. I’m sure we could come up with other ways to locate the spirits if we needed to, but I’d rather see if Jinx can find it.” It would be less depressing, and lower the risk of getting stuck with a stray needle or some bullshit.

With that, she rolled down the passenger side window and leaned her head out. After glancing around to be sure they were unwatched, she looked up at the crow atop the lamp post. Said crow looked down at her quizzically.
The Acanthus nodded. "Do it," she said.
After a moment, Jinx remembered what 'it' was, and proceeded use one of his numina.

Birds in general didn't have much of a sense of smell, despite Thirteen talking about 'sniffing out' the trail. They did, however, have fantastic vision. Eagles could spot a field mouse from miles away. Owls could see in the dark. Crows might not have eyes that extreme, but they still had sharp vision. They could recognize and remember various details, like individual human faces. They were intelligent enough to pass that information on to other crows, who could easily pick out such humans based on description alone. Jinx's numen related data to him through his sight.

Sharp avian eyes focus in, seeing more then there is to see, reaching into the supernatural presences that left marks unseen upon the world. Mages might know a lot and posses the ability to learn a great deal more, but not this. These marks were for spirits to know and see to follow. The traces of passage the flavors of essence the shineing bounty of loci and the shadowy intercession of verges all these things can be known to the familiar.
With a sharp focusing in these motions grow still, these visual flavors grow dull, the bright spots dark and the leaks of encroaching shadow becomes less lustrous. The trail sought is all that remains and the familiar picks out only the clues that would lead to the quarry, that horrid spirit that the crow spirit had witnessed attack his mistress from afar. And Jinx perceives the current and tastes the bile of the thing each and every clue points to the south and to the west towards what Jinx invariable would know to the the starbucks in Zinfandel estates.

"Honestly?" Thirteen responded to the Shaman, "Not sure. Never had him do this before. Never had a reason."
Jinx's head was on a swivel, looking this way and that, filtering through all the sensory data being thrown at him and... there it was.
Got you! You're... uh oh.
The crow looked down at the Jeep, then seemed to just sit there, atop the lamp post, and thought for maybe twenty seconds.
Thirteen watched him through the window, wondering why she felt - through their empathic link - that Jinx was worried.
The familiar finally took wing... only, he didn't go very far. He just swooped down to a public trash bin and poked around the contents for a minute. He tossed some items out as he dug for something specific. Some crumpled papers, a cigarette butt, a greasy burger wrapper... all went flying out. Then, he seemed to find what he was looking for. The bird snatched it up in his beak and took to the air once more.
Jinx returned, flying over the Jeep and... dropped a paper cup onto the hood. It was empty and dry, thankfully, as it bounced off and fell to the pavement on the passenger side. Thirteen, scowling in confusion, watched as her familiar returned to the lamp post and watched them. She eyed the cup curiously... and then...
"Shite!" the Acanthus cursed as she sat back in her seat. "It's a Starbucks to-go cup." She looked at Aurora. "He's tellin' us the spirit is at the Starbucks in Zinfandel." It was the only Starbucks that mattered in this whole mess. "Of course it's still there! Where else would the Goldies' guard dog be?" The redhead shook her head angrily, sending her curls bouncing, "How did we not consider that?"
This complicated matters. Zinfandel Estates were not exactly friendly territory. The San Franciscan cabal held sway there.

And with that deeply problematic revelation the two mages sit in the jeep aware their task has just become all that much more difficult ... however ... could they use what Aurora had learned from the hospital custodian to somehow lure the tumorous mass of tendrils away from the starbucks?

“Fair enough. So, we wait and see what he does then.” Not like they could ask him, that would make a scene. Two women start talking to a crow.
Then she hears the cup hit the hood, and looks up, then over to Thirteen in confusion and surprise.
When the Enchantress tells her what hit her Jeep and what it meant, “First, major props to Jinx for doing what he said he could do. That was awesome.” It needed to be said. “Second…fuck!” because this was not ideal. “That’s fucking perfect, it would have to be there.” Closing her eyes for a moment. “Well, we’re not going there. I figured it would be something they could summon when needed, and it would get what it needed from a place like the hospital.” It was logical to her.
“Thinking about this, we could still try and lure it out. But it does mean going to more unsavory parts of the city. Perhaps within X number of miles of Zinfandel. It can’t be called out all the time, it needs to rest and get Numina. So it would have a place to gather that, a place that was safe for it to without drawing attention.” Thinking, “Now I’m not really familiar with the area, so I’ll have to look at a map on my phone and see what’s there.”
Now came some decision making. “We can look and see how close we can maybe safely get. Nothing wrong with that. But perhaps with it being actually located with them, where the attack went down, and the possibility of luring it out. I say possibility because nothing is decided yet, all talk right now.” Didn’t want her thinking Aurora was signing them up for anything. “We could look at calling in others. I have no issues with trying to call this thing to me. It doesn’t know me, I don’t think its handlers know me. But I do not want to put you in the line of fire if it goes south.” Making sure she got that out there. “I have been looking into building my own spirit Court, which could, maybe, give me some sway, maybe with this thing. Bu that hinges on a lot.” Tapping the steering wheel. “I think the best idea is to see if we can get others, possibly of my Path, to help and see what they say.” The looking to Thirteen, “But I want to know what you think.”

The Acanthus thought aloud, "I think the Old Crone only brings the spirit out when they need it to kill something. She summoned it durin' the fight with Cartwright. Like I said, it's a guard dog. Only she Paradox'd the summonin' and it arrived in the wrong place. It came out of the spirit world right in front of me when I was on a differently floor of the buildin'. Went right after anyone that wasn't a Goldie. It must have standin' orders to do so. Or maybe it was overzealous. Either way, that bitch had a hell of a time tryin' to pull it's reins."
She looked at Aurora, "I'm fine with more help if you wanna lure it into a trap. It's a strong critter. The Goldies' leader wasn't the only one havin' trouble gettin' spells to stick to it. My own Fate curse just slid right off it." That had been severely annoying. Her eyes drifted to the errant coffee cup littering the ground outside. "So... Skye and Asclepius, then? Anyone else with some power in the Spirit Arcanum? Too bad we got no Obrimos around. Might be handy to just incinerate the feckin' thing."

The complication far being insurmountable but carries new risk and thus a new plan. Revaluation. Where would be best to conduct their attack from? Could they lure or summon the spirit onto more favorable grounds? Did they need extra hands? back up? Or would to many hands in the kitchen just complicate matters? Speaking of extra help they had a hospital of spirits who hated the thing right here in front of them and the location they needed? Could they make that work to their advantage somehow?

“Damn. I’d hate to have that thing show up right in front of me, especially considering how you’ve described it. And what it did to Skye.” And why wasn’t Skye able to damage it? That part still didn’t sit right with her. “If she had a hard time controlling it, it raises some questions about how much power she has over it. Spirits don’t like being controlled any ways.” You could, yes.
Sighing, “Between you and I, I have my concerns with Skye. I had to use a midrange spell to help her, basic to someone on our Path. I’m just concerned with why I had to. Not that I mind helping anyone who needs it, I will, any time. It just seems…odd…to me.” Shrugging. “But I can ask her directly about that.” Tapping the steering wheel, thinking.
“Luring it away would be smartest, set the playing field so to speak. We would still need to be ultra cautious, as the Goldies have Shaman, clearly. And I don’t know if any are Masters. So we would need to aware of that.” More thinking, a glance out the window. “Wonder if that spirit, I talked to would want in on the Goldies nasty spirit? They are technically at war with that Court. We know where one is, being used by mages to attack people.” Looking to Thirteen, “Maybe we can bring the two together.”
