Leylines and Hallows: Wake crashing

In the ongoing and continuous efforts to find and follow the cities ley lines along with encountering the other supernatural events and phenomena the mages of the two rivers consilium have found their way walking past the exterior of a large gated estate when their trusty sixth sense made them all aware something supernatural had occurred. Occurred nearby. With the gates open and a collection of black shiny cars coming and going, a crush of somber people sweltering in their funeral attire a formal and expensive looking sign on the gate reads.

Well all might be welcome, but all is not as it seems, something beyond the pale ken of the fallen world has happened at that wake, what mystery await, why is this wake not just a fallen affair, what dangers could be building within?

A Walk among the city was never one that left you feeling bored, the hustle and bustle of the people and their roles in the cities working order. The Arrow had not ventured out on a search for the ley lines within the city and in truth was not sure what to expect, however he did trust that something would stand out and almost call to him in its own way. While out and about, he wore a plain white shirt and black jogging bottoms with some trainers, even if this was a simple search and discover he dressed in case there was trouble that he was going to walk into.

As it turns out, this was to be the case. His attention drawn to a gated estate, the familiar supernatural sense going off as to alert him. Odd, what could be going on here? I suppose people of all walks of life could stumble into this kind of life. The Arrow giving a quick glance around the entrance of gated estate notices the familiar sights of the black shiny cars, the solemn looks and the traditional formal attire. To the Arrow it was clear, someone sadly had passed on and what was before him was the final goodbyes and the celebration of their life, at least that is how he looked at it.

Should this have happened any other time, it would have been reported in to either the First Talon or the Hierarch but he was not alone this day. The Arrow turned his head to the newest member of the Consilium. “I trust your senses are also are drawn to this unfortunate event as well?”

Mateus, the newcomer, was taking in the sights of the city as he followed around the more experienced mage. He is dressed in an average quality, light blue shirt that is has the top button open and comfortable shorts. Perhaps not the most dignified but the place was warm. He was glad Asclepius had chosen shorts too.
For his part, he has been alarmed the moment something happened in the wake. Oh oh... and the deceased was 98 years old. A long time to gather enemies and allies of interest that would show up in your wake.
When asked, he nods to the Arrow.
"Yes. Give me a few moments to get ready..." he says and double-checks there are no people too close to them to hear him. Soon, he would take care of that issue.

A few quick motions that are easily ignored as fidgeting and the rote is complete. Mateus manages to enforce his enlighted will on the Fallen World and puts Quantum Flux up.

With this up, he tries for the spell that would make his life easier and make him much easier to ignore (Incognito Presence)... but with a twist: he commands fate to exclude those acknoweldged by the Consilium of Sacramento from the spells effects. He takes a bit to read the waves of fate in order to aim the spell at the precise moment that would be more beneficial and again, he managed to bring his will to the fallen world.

Incognito presence is cast on the mage that cast it (the caster) and EVERYONE else around is subject to the effects now effectively emanating from the mage as it says in the spell, it does not use special target factors as it says in the spell. So by excluding consilium mages Mateus excludes himself the only viable target of the spell and thus despite the spell going off it has no targets.

Their attire might not fit the scene but no one stops to pay them any much mind focused as they are with their own mourning or getting inside, a few others from around the area have also wondered in and a a handful more stand a little awkwardly nearby also not sure if they should be going in or not a wake after all can be a very private and difficult affair.

Mateus begins to cast some spells that ultimately leave him with two spells in his pattern but only the fate spell offering him any boon for his supernal efforts.

It should not have been much of a surprise given the signage on the gate, but given the Arrows attire did not match the tone or context of the event, he did expect more odd looks in his direction. After all wearing black jogging bottoms was not the typical choice for a wake, but then again he was not expecting to be going to one. It all seems so inevitable, fighting against death at work and now being brought before the aftermath of death at... well I guess this is like a second job. 98 years old though, it is an impressive feat to have lived such a long life.

The nod from Mateus received, the Arrow would not rob him of his preparation time. Something was afoot ahead and blending in with the crowd was how the Arrow thought it best to play this little investigation. It was then that the supernatural senses of the Arrow alert him to further actions around him. He hoped that this was his fellow Consilium member's doing but without his sight up he could not confirm such things.

Another blip passes and this time the Arrow was getting nervous, he had to question what was going on because either they were sitting ducks to an already pre-planned defence or the cause of the first supernatural disturbance had just potentially been alerted to approaching trouble. His head turned towards Mateus, a slight sound of concern in his voice. “Please tell me that was you...” Part of him wanted Mateus to say no and that they could remain incognito but also part of him hoped it was Mateus.

Realizing the futility of his spell, that he simply cannot fate the spell work the way he wants that way, Mateus releases it from his pattern with a frown. Then Asclepius asks and he answers "That was me. It will also be me ... in a moment again." he whispers.

He again concentrates for a few moments trying to cast the spell the usual way, the way he did for years ... but as fate would have it, ironically, the spell eludes him this time.

Well, he wouldn't go there without sight, at least. So, he casts Third Eye.

He turns to Asclepius. "Apologies for the delay. Let's go. I will warn you if I do something again. Let's say I can just see better. Feel free to call me Mateus in there. How may I call you? "

As Mateus fumbles around with his will working and a spell fails to reshape the fallen world it does seem inevitable that today he will not go unnoticed rather apt given the path he walks it follows his previous attempt flaws to be ironed out. The tower of the iron gauntlet does at least permit him to call down the all important mage sight the golden glyph appearing in his pattern to those with the sight to see it.

Hopefully this has put the contemplative Asclepius a little more at ease having some bearing for where all the alerts to his sixth sense are coming from, well nearly all there still remains that first unaccounted for issue from within the walled estate. However they have been hovering on the porch for some time at this point and another of the nervous indecisive onlookers sidles up to them. "So an open wake huh, do they really think anyone is going to just waltz on in there?" The man is dressed in a polo shirt and shirts with trainers that would suit a younger man better his voice carries the unmissable lilt of inquiry a man trying to gauge what the for lack of a better term the crowd, would do so he can follow along.

The element of surprise firmly tossed out of the window, all that was left was to go into the wake and get a scope of what is going on. Thankfully, Mateus had finished with his spell casting which meant they did not have to wait any longer.

The Arrow went to make his way through the front gate but an unknown voice made him turn his gaze to its origin. Polo shirt was the first thing the Arrow took note of, that and the fact he was seemingly indecisive about going into the wake. He would offer a few words to this person that clearly wanted to go in but did not know if they should. “The one thing the world lacks is the want and desire to share with others an act of kindness. Why not Honour the man by making an appearance and giving your thanks to his hospitality and help in giving him a pleasant send off.”

Asclepius turned to the door and made his way in. There was no smile on his face, a solemn look on his face and his head held low. Looking for where the gathering of people, he followed the sounds of conversation. He trusted that Mateus would follow him.

Mateus nods to what Asclepius said to the other man. After a moment, he followed the Arrow in. Well aware that his spells are not cloaked, he didn't move next to the Arrow but kept some distance - a few yards. He walked in with a respectful expression. He was not pretending grief, but he did show respect.
As he did, he looked around the place trying to gouge which of the gathered were mourners and which people seemed to be unrelated to the dead near-Centenarian. But most importantly, he was on the lookout for people that looked out of place - as if having an agenda.
While he didn't scrutinize anything, he did rely on all his senses - including mage sight - when trying to figure out who was there for other reasons.

Wits + Empathy? Penalties? Bonuses? No scrutiny at this point. He is not staring at anyone or anything.

With a shrug the man who had approached Asclepius sees to silently agree, he waits to see if in fact entry is going to happen and once it does slowly follows behind at his own pace. Mateus also tagging along behind the arrow.

A short walk up to the open front door leading into the house which is reasonably sized and mourners stand around quietly chatting a few flit slowly between the groups with empty smile and encouraging hugs where they seem needed of course there is food in the kitchen nothing to substantial but plenty of it. Cocktail food and light snacks through the windows into the back they can see where the open bar is set up and most of the mourners seem to be gathered out that way,

The house itself has several rooms on the ground floor and an open plan staircase leading up higher off the kitchen, A person coming down them female dark wavy hair tanned in a black blouse skirt and heels who is a bit unsteady on her feet registers immediately to Mateus under his supernal awareness she is someone who has recently been affected by the movements of exceptionally advanced thought, which is to say something supernatural has recently affected her mind.

If you want to check the people it is wits empathy, if you want to check the surroundings it is wits+composure!
