Otto was still scrutinizing the man when the light hit him. The familiar faces came out, bundles of sharp emotion and on edge. He had begun to smirk, his inner thoughts coalescing around a sly remark and an attempt to assert his own mental dominance over the newcomers when the Beast overcame his consciousness. The flame. No matter how small, no matter how his thirst was slaked, the flame was a source of fear. A tiny, rational part of him tried to reason that to fear such a small fire from this distance was foolish. But the Beast cared little for reason.

The Priest bit his lip. Our purpose is to serve, and when we stray from that purpose, we are to be chastened. He reminded himself. The light of the sun excoriates; the flames of a fire purify fleshly evil. He repeated the quote from the Testament to himself over and over to center his mind.

"Didn't expect it to cause such problems." He was doing everything in his power to avoid staring at the lighter, but the Ventrue wasn't sure how long he could succeed.

"Why?" Elisa asks as she looks directly at Otto. "We did not hide what we are doing. Did you want to come in to help with the test? We are moving to the obvious second test right now."
