Ah shit, here we go again.

Back in the Sacramento Public Library, Thirteen stood idle a moment as she looked over the place, thinking on which resources she should start with. She was here to research Baron Douglas' Waxen Recreations, on behalf of Witch and Skye. The Acanthus didn't have as much information to go on as when she investigated the Hunters. Just the name of the traveling roadshow/carnival.

The internet would be where she would begin. Then she'd move on the microfilm of old news stories about the group. From there, she'd branch out to other, related topics as she discovered them. Group members, past incidents, etc.

Nodding to herself, Thirteen dove in.

Finding herself once more among the stacks and desks of the library Thirteen makes good use of the criminally underutilised public resource, in its own way a sleeper manifestation of the free councils lore houses public access to information with a small fee attached for membership and perks.

Baron Douglas' Waxen Recreations is unsurprisingly a traveling wax work exhibit, and reviews can be found on it dating back to the early two thousands dating it to a little over twenty years in operation. As a traveling show it has limited presence in its own right online but the reviews paint a picture of lack lustre wax works, generic carnival atmosphere and not overly exciting affair, although smattered in a comments about the authenticity and effort put into the outfits.

The show tours the USA mostly sticking to the west and southern states often alone but occasional as part of a larger or grander affair that it tags onto, attached are the expected claims of theft, assault and vandalism that be it true or not follow the stereotype wherever it crops up.

Dating back to 2020 the show went through something for a rebrand leaning into the horror theme alot more changing up the setup it improve ambiance and immersion from this point forward the reviews start to include titbits starting off quite generic feeling like the wax works are watching, dead eyes following that kind of thing, then it begins to escalate the statue apparently moving between the blink of an eye leading to accusation of actors in dress up, the voices people put down to hidden speakers but commend the effort what is harder to explain the reports of doppelgangers, wax works that mirror a visitor or even creepier a loved one.

So, nothing special about it for the first fifteen years or so, until a 2020 horror rebrand. Smart move, business-wise. The Acanthus couldn't say she'd have been interested in seeing a wax figure show under any circumstances. The concept didn't excite her.

This rebrand might be when the ringleader became mixed up with the Abyss. Maybe that's when they got the acamoth dagger? A bit of an assumption on Thirteen's part, but it felt like a logical turn of events.

She found nothing on Baron Douglas himself. Unsurprising. It probably wasn't his real name.

Overall, the Libertine was a touch disappointed. She'd hoped to uncover something more useful. Some hard data she could use.

Sighing, Thirteen packed it in and headed home.
