Funderland

Funderland Amusement Park has been dishing up kid-sized thrills since 1946! It is the only place to take the kids in Sacramento that has nine exciting amusement rides, a concession stand, birthday parties, and more. We are conveniently located in William Land Park next to the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town.

Funderland is a public location, but also the heart of Sacramento's Changeling Freehold.

Some Freeholds hide in plain sight, while others hide so well that new arrivals need an invitation and direction to even catch a hint of just where the Lost's stronghold resides. The Freehold of Sacramento is of the former, and has always been, but with the death of the dragon Fairweather, the Lost of Sacramento have taken control of, and are operating an amusement park. A self contained space, a fortress for the Lost, but one where mortals come spend their money, and offer up something more precious; Glamour. The park is divided along the lines of the Seasonal Courts, each having their own ride or featured building, so the Glamour is spiced in the layers of the four cardinal emotions.

Much like the world - the Hedge - beside the mundane one, there is a private world beneath the park -- prohibition era tunnels, passages and even rooms.

For now, the the Park is closed and admittance is only for the Lost. For those moments before Equinox and Solstice, The Eternal Seasons reign....

It was a beautiful May day in Sacramento. The sun was hot and shining, the breeze was light and cool, and the Queen of Spring had set up a beach party for the Freehold! Paradise Beach is located smack dab in the middle of the city, right along the Sacramento River. Sandy beach, cool water, restrooms, paddle boat rentals, and even wifi! There was swimming, boating and of course sunbathing.

The Director had claimed a section of the beach for the freeholders, whoever wanted to come join the sunny fun! A green beach tent canopy had been erected, and underneath were some lawn chairs, a cooler box full of ice and drinks, and a cardboard box full of snacks: Chips, crackers, candy, etc.

The Queen of Green Season, Sonnie Wu herself was present and ready for fun in the sun!

Her Mask hardened, she wore naught but a purple bikini and was looking damn fine! A can of orange soda in one hand, she relaxed on a plastic chair and enjoyed the solar rays.

Fugly, Sonnie's beloved dog, was also here, rolling about in the sand like a little maniac.

"Ahhhhh. This is the life, eh, Fugs?" she asked. The pooch just kept playing in the sand.

[Mina]

See, this is what she already loved about Sonnie, she threw all the parties! This Queen understood what it was like to Spring.

And she was awesome too.

So her cooler was once again filled with some ice cream and drinks, because both were a necessity. She didn’t have any chairs, but she did have towels! And cards, she had cards, and sunscreen, a sunburn just would not do. Change of clothes and a beach ball that she grabbed from a store on the way!

Pulling up in the Jeep with sunglasses on, her hair in a braid and a wrap around her waist, she hops out and grabs the cooler, towel and beach ball and heads down towards the water. It was hard to not spot Sonnie, she had those playful good looks and an adorable Fugly with her!

“Hey Sonnie! Perfect day for the beach!” she calls as she walks up. Putting her stuff down, “I have some ice cream and soda, and it’s mostly vanilla, so if Fugly’s allowed to have some, he’s welcome to it.” No chocolate. “Speaking of Fugly,” looking at the pup, “how are you good sir!” ready to give him lots of attention should he want it. “And you?” looking to Sonnie, “Things going good?” laying out her towel, she sits down, her bathing suit was black, and she didn't look as fine as her Monarch, but she was looking good.

[Circe]

Circe might be disappointed that nobody recognized her car parked already, but she is quite distracted right now. Mostly because her long, Fairest legs are splashing in the water moving at above baseline human performance. Which is what the rubber flipper shoes are advertised to do, so not wasted coin by the Summer Queen.


Circe's swimsuit was chosen for, well, swimming. As for her concerns with the fauna from the tunnels? Circe has a way to cheat with regards to those damn nightmare mouthed worms.

Which she did. Of course, it'd be hard to tell with the Mask Hardened. Throw in a snorkel, goggles, and flippers equals someone having a fun time swimming without concern about vampire worms. Wearing a knife really wasn't an option to deter them, something about laws and such if you weren't full scuba. Maybe? She wasn't sure so she didn't bother. A flathead screwdriver would probably be enough. Her other effects were on a Guns and Roses beach towel in a duffle bag.


Then there was her surprise of finding random shit at the bottom of the river bed. Like, I don't want to walk on that amount of random shit combined with maybe magnet fishing would be entertaining levels. She was certainly going to be avoiding this section. Suggest same for any beach goers she might like. Cire turns her ass around ad decides to go back to get herself something to drink.

"Mina! Circe! Hellooooo!" Sonnie smiled as the two women arrived to the beach/emerged from the water. "Looking fiiiiiine, ladies!" Did she ogle the swimsuits?

Yes, but she tried to be circumspect about it.

Fugly yapped in greeting, running around in circles and kicking up sand, before charging at the Elemental to bounce up and down in excitement. The Spring Queen laughed, "Sure, he can have ice cream!"

Smirking at the Iron Spear, "Hunting for sunken treasure? Did pirates ever make it to Sacramento?"

[Mina]

Spotting Circe the Snowskin waves and smiles.

At the compliment from her Queen, she does a little turn, “Not looking too bad yourself. Love that shade of purple!”

Laughing at the excitement of the dog, “I guess I said the magic words huh?” clearly enjoying seeing the happiness displayed by Fugly. “Easy there,” giggling, “you’ve been given the green light!” opening the cooler, she pulls out one of those little ice cream cups, some come in plain vanilla, while some had strawberry and some had chocolate swirls in them. Fugly got a vanilla one and Mina pulled the lid back and held it out to him. “There you go.” Looking to Sonnie, “Did you want one? Some have strawberry and some have chocolate.” With her free hand, she pulls out a soda for herself.

With the question posed to the Summer, “Oh! Yeah! Are there any shineys down there?!”

[Circe]

Returning ashore, Circe did not expect to see many familiar faces, in here of all places. Well, no gift horse mouthing for her, nope! Though she'd grab the towel and her duffle first before joining them.


"Oh ho ho ho! Nar matey, lest ye be including politicians," Circe jests back to Sonja. "Nice look yourself Sonja," she sort of walks over. It isn't quite walking due to the squeaky wet rubber noises combined with the wet thwomp noises made by the diving flippers. It is a little comedic as the Summer Queen is drying herself off whilst approaching with such noises. "Certainly are rockin' it Sonnie."


Then notes Mina is present. "Two fine in two fine pieces, nice to arrive to. Looks better on you happy folk then fleeces. Though quite scandalous," she mock gasps, "The third in your party is only wearing a collar. Whilst still the cutest of all here, that is quite naughty," she waggles her eyebrows.


"And that depends Mina," she finally takes off the goggles and snorkel to dry her hair. "Would rusted bicycle, shopping cart, or glass be treasure?" Circe pauses in her drying to point to, well she has to pause and think. To her left now, "Don't walk on the bottom over there. Possible spikey bits, though fortunately," Circe smiles as she pulls down the towel to start drying her torso, "None of those terrible toothed vermin that tried to eat my sub drone."


That'd been funny by how she and the old guard had over reacted to what they saw. Scale didn't translate well from tiny drone to screen image.

"I like purple. It reminds me of grapes," she smiled, and adjusted her sunglasses.

Fugly, meanwhile, was ecstatic to be given ice cream! He dug right in, licking away at the cold vanilla treat! Sonnie waved off the offer, "Thanks, but I'm gonna swim in a bit and I don't wanna cramp up!"

"Well," she chuckled at Circe, amused by the floppy flippers, "Those kind of pirates are everywhere. And Fugly is always wearing his fur coat!"

The Beast turned her gaze curiously towards the water, "How'd a shopping cart get down there?"

[Svelte Sven]

If he were being honest, which he seldom was, Sven hated the beach. More specifically, he hated sand. It was coarse, rough, and it got everywhere. Nevertheless, the Queen of Spring had made an open invitation to lounge at the beach which would probably attract much of the Freehold. And he would be remiss in his duties to the Silver Arrow if he didn't attend.

Svelte Sven didn't have much money on his person as a general rule, and he hated dressing down. But through a combination of determination, guile, and self-consciousness, he had managed to acquire swimwear that was his size and that covered most of his body. The blue and white striped ensemble was as close to his usual elaborate dresswear as he could manage at the beachfront, even if he felt discomfort the whole time. The Whisperwisp honestly hated being out at in the open as he was, but certain sacrifices needed to be made to keep in the loop of Freehold activity.

The Darkling was a little less sure of the need to harden the Mask, but didn't question the practice. Even if he was sure of his ability to blend in, there was no need to raise a fuss with the rest of the Freehold. A drop of Glamour was a smile price to pay to assure the rest of the Lost that he was maintaining their charade of normality. When he finally reached the venue in question, there were several mortal and fellow courtiers that were already having fun at the beach. Sven contented himself with quietly approaching Sonnie with a polite smile, hands folded behind his back. "A good day to you, Sonnie." An uncomfortable part of him tugged at his mind to address the Beast by her proper title, but he knew better than to call her 'Queen Sonja' in a public space.

[Mina]

A pose was struck for the Summer Queen, “Wouldn’t dream of looking anything but fine!” she was a Spring after all. “My my, is that a complaint ma’am? Cause I assure you the two piece can become a bit naughtier and truly push the boundaries.” Assures the Snowskin with a wink. Thought she wasn't sure why she said that and winked. But it seemed like the right thing to say...maybe? Well, it was said.

“Hmmm,” a spoon tapping her chin, “not really. But not sure what good a bike would be down there. Unless it was a special art piece that has long been forgotten.” Then bad on the artist for leaving it there.

“Oh! Now I want grapes.” A frown, “I didn’t bring any grapes either.” Sighing, “Gonna have to pick some up on the way home later.” Cause now that she wanted some, she was going to have to get some.

Giggling at Fugly enjoying the ice cream, she nods sagely to Sonnie, “Ah, smart. Me?” holding up her own ice cream, “Not so smart, but I like to live dangerously.” Plus one ice cream shouldn’t be that bad.

It was hard to not notice the Darkling. She wasn’t sure she’d ever seen a bathing suit like that in real life. But she guesses if one was more modest or wanted to coverup themselves more, it made sense. It was still a bit…well…weird to see.

But still, she smiled and waved, happy to see the Winter, “Hey! We got ice cream if you want!”
