The Prince and the Seneschal

[Jennifer Hazelton]

Jennifer moved to the Prince's office from her own office within Elysium. Jennifer carried with her a professional brief case, where her fine pens and leatherbound notebook with her thoughts on current matters were entrusted. Liam remained within Jennifer's office, awaiting for her to return.

"Your Grace," Jennifer waits by the doorway to be admitted to the Alder Prince's office. There was much to discuss tonight.

"I am glad that you could meet with me. I believe that some of the Kindred have not been very interested or even very active of late, which meant that others are being much more productive. I did want to go over the recent events to see what you need done and you and I should do about the Haunting in a Garden and the Neighborhood Watch issue downtown that is limiting feeding opportunities."

[Alessandra]

Gabriel took a folder from Ale when Jenn appeared in the doorway, on time, for the scheduled meeting.

Tucking it under his arm, he bowed to the Haunt and left the office, closing the door behind him.

The dark eyes of the Savage look up to the door way, “Seneschal Hazelton, good evening,” a hand gestures to the chairs in front of the desk, “please have a seat.” Her own Beast snarling and pacing at the presence of the weaker one, demanding violence and flesh. But Ale simply pulls its chain, ignoring its demands.

Sighing, “They haven’t been interested in some time. The Domain seems to be in one of its lulls.” Which was quite normal. “Tell me more about how it is limiting feeding opportunities, because I haven’t heard anyone in Domain saying anything about it. The Communal Zone encompasses a generous amount. Downtown is limited in who is allowed to feed there.” Leaning back, “And what you and I should do about what now? Last I checked, neither one of us were the Reeve. If I have to get involved to handle something, someone is going to have to answer for that.”

Jennifer nods slightly to the Prince, her reaction to agreeing with the Prince. Jennifer heard the words of the Prince and tailored her words to directly convey the facts about what Jennifer regarding who was involved in investigations.
"This is true."

"I have been verifying reports submitted to me by Priscus Silvers by cross referencing information relayed to me by Priscus Schneider." Jennifer states. "It would appear that the Daeva Priscus and the Ventrue Priscus have been operating as our chief investigators. I suspect our Domain's lone investigators. The investigation of the Ghost in Southside Park has been ongoing from February and the neighborhood watch that has created an atmosphere hostile to hunting is more recent. This time frame has made me want to take one in hand, before the Kine become attracted to the investigations. We do not need supernaturally awakened Kine." Her mind brought thoughts of Hunters up, unbidden. A rare and yet dangerous threat.

[Alessandra]

A small nod, “I’m glad you have verified the information you have received. Priscus Silvers seems a bit, eager to please and as such, could embellish. As we have seen in Court. Still, I would like to speak with Priscus Schneider as it sounds like he has been making himself quite useful.” Not a bad thing. “And if they are the lone investigators, it sounds like the Reeve hasn’t been doing her job and I will take care of that.” Which was going to be quite simple.

“Technically, it’s not your job to step in for such a matter, but I won’t stop you.”

"A bit eager to please." Jennifer reflected on that for a moment. "I can see what you mean. I wonder why that is why she insists on using First Estate titles at Domain functions. Although she does not seem to understand why I - and others - ask her about her affiliation with the First Estate when she does so.
I believe verifying information is something that I need to do.

I believe that you would enjoy speaking with Priscus Schneider. I have invited him to the Salon that I am hosting that I invited you to as well. I have found that he is intelligent.
I am forced to agree with you on the matter of the Reeve."

[Alessandra]

A bored shrug, “She either feels the need to impress and stand out for some reason, or the First Estate fascinates her. But if she does not understand why she is being asked, then it is a lack of education on her part, either by her Sire or simply on her. Either way, it’s not a good look. She has been corrected, and still seems misguided on it.” When corrected by your elders and those who outrank you, you take the correction and you move on.

“Is he now? Then we’ve had different interactions with him. But I’m willing to sit down in a less formal setting and talk with him.” Maybe Court made him more apt to stumble on things.

“Yes, that will need to be addressed sooner rather than later it seems. The behavior is unacceptable and not what I want to see in a Reeve.” A shake of her head, “I had high hopes for Ms Kingsley when she stepped into the position.”

"I can see what you are saying. Yet as we have spoken, I find it strange that some Kindred do not grow from being told things. I feel from Ms. Thistle's reaction, your spoken words on the matter and my own words, that the Priscus would recognize that she is not impressing me. Although, she did briefly fall in with the previous Daeva Priscus. Perhaps there was education there."
"I believe that he is competent. Capable. The Priscus of Lords seems to have a good understanding of most Kindred niceties, with the obvious Court exceptions. It is odd, yet you fixed the behavior.

I am most disappointed. There was such high hope at the beginning." Jennifer states, sincerely as some sadness touches her face.
"Yet it is important to move on. There must be someone active in the role.

I did want to hear your thoughts on the matter that the Envoy brought. This has not been made known to the Reeve or anyone else in the Domain."

[Alessandra]

Another shrug, “Some Kindred cannot see past themselves, they are so focused on a single task, whatever they have set for themselves, that they cannot see past it. I believe hers is impressing and standing out to those around her, showing her value and worth at whatever cost. It is unfortunately a flaw that is self-defeating.” The Savage was jaded at this point to the behavior, having seen it before. She just simply did not care anymore.

“I have corrected it so far, and there is yet to be another misstep. If you recall, he still did not get the Titles correct in Court, I am the Priscus of Gangrel. I let it slide as an act of good faith that he will not fuck up again. Everyone deserves one act of good faith, right?” a cold smile on her lips. Because Jenn would know there would not be a second for him.

“None more disappointed than I. I saw some of myself in her, the drive I had when I took on the role of Reeve.” A sigh, another shrug. “But, it is what it is I suppose. We move on.” They find someone who could do the job and be effective and efficient.

“I find it a bit odd; the Domain has never had such an ongoing incident before. So I’m curious what or who brought it to my doorstep. If it is something more serious, I do not see us having the fighting power to handle it. Myself aside, I don’t see really anyone who could handle themselves in a combat situation. So unless this envoy is going to provide me with some more intel on it, I have to wonder.”

"The envoy has stated that it has caused Final Death if kindred in their Domain. Which makes me believe that we should gather intelligence on if there's similar instances occurring in our Domain.
It is likely that all of the intel that was had was passed on. We will have to do our own investigation.

It is very possible that I have seen a different side of the Priscus of Lords, as we have spoken on matters. In these matters, he has been proving that he is active and competent."

[Alessandra]

“I am aware there has been Final Death, but not to Kindred of note or Quality of this Domain. From the reports I have been given, it’s a problem that has spilled over into this Domain. Someone has brought it to my doorstep.” And she was none too happy about it.

“I’m not opposed to gathering intel on the matter. But our numbers are not what they used to be, and we cannot spread ourselves too thin. From what you have been telling me, we have two Kindred that are doing the work of what more used to. This is not ideal and you know that. How many investigations can two Kindred commit themselves to and no overlook something of importance?” unless the rest wanted to get off their asses.

A shrug, “Perhaps.”
