Clean up crew: Return to the forties

In East Sacramento exists a neighbourhood that can only be described as a the suburban dream large stylish detached houses set back from the road with expansive gardens. The streets beautifully cultivated with greenery and well maintained surfaces and pavements. The cars are all new and expensive with quite engines. If anyone who lives here works locally they are management for sure and very rich while many more of these dream homes sit empty places for the extravagantly wealthy to spend summers or winters on holiday. The neighbourhood is known as [url=https://www.visitcalifornia.com/experience/fabulous-forties/]The Fabulous forties [/url It is also here that over half a year a go Corn, Philip Crosen, Eidolon and Salem found and broke into a warded Sanctum to fight with a ghost and a mage evidentially having to beat a hasty retreat as they were unable to gold there own.

It is here Aurora finds herself in this district a world away from loft conversions and circus tents to see exactly what kind of damage had been done and if she can put things to rights.

Aurora wasn’t sure what to expect from where she had been sent. It certainly wasn’t a nice neighborhood with expensive looking houses and cars.

But she was glad she had taken an Uber and put in a little effort into what she wore.

What would she find? Would it be as hostile as what the others encountered? She sure as hell hoped not, she knew the Lex, she knew how to talk to people, and she had no plans to break into any home. Emphases on plans, she had no clue what this trip was going to entail, and who or what she might encounter. They could be hostile right off the bat, and then, well, not much she could do.

Hostile wasn’t her plan.

Best laid plans…blah blah blah.

At least she was smart, that had to work for her.

The address had been typed into the GPS on her cell and she let it guide her. And as she walks, and gets closer to her destination, she takes a moment to look around and get a feel for her surroundings.

Among the many beautiful houses in the fabolous forties district the first task for the Sharman is to identify which of the pristine and sleepy looking abodes is the one she needs knowing that the four mages prior had been looking into leylines and found a node might help as does knowing the ward came from a ghosts numina.

It would have been nice for them to leave a sign on the door for her, but, things were never that easy.

And as such, she was going to have to cast to see where she was going. Not ideal of course, but at least her spells were not vulgar. There was a look around, seeing if anyone was approaching on the sidewalk, out on their lawn or anything before she glances at her phone again. Was she simply a tourist a bit lost? Perhaps.

Prime was still new to her, but it had been very useful. And she needed to see those Leylines and follow them.

The spell was covert and the chances of it becoming improbable near nothing as it greeted no visual effect for sleepers to interact with. Instead her eyes open to the flows of energy of the earth great blazing streams of golden fire like force rush through the earth beneath her a torrent of natural power beautiful and magnificent reminiscent of a waterfall if it the water fell horizontally instead if vertically touching and infusing every thing around maintaining some balance or structure.

Here two such majestic torrents intersect at angles before running on perfectly straight. Do they circle the entire planet? They both certainly run to the horizon in both directions. The point of intersection a wellspring of energy a hot spring bubbling to the surface ready to be enjoyed, a node. And on that point built as if intentionally which it might well have been an old two story house complete with circular attic window and extensive front porch. She has found the sanctum in question.

It never ceased to amaze her when she used new Arcana for the first time how the world around her changed. And the way Prime opened her eyes to the leylines around her was simply stunning. One of those things you wanted to just stand there and study, something she had never really giving much time to.

But she was here for a reason, and she needed to focus. Though what would a journey of following the lines lead you?

Focus Aurora…focus!

Thankfully, she knew what she was looking for, a node, and there it was. A nice house, one she would pick for herself if she was in the market.

Question was, was anyone home? The best way to find out who’s Sanctum it was, was to walk up and knock. Not fucking break in and then ask questions.

She had no intentions of breaking in and firing off magic this day. Unless pushed to do so. This was an investigation, which meant they got polite and friendly Aurora.

Looking over the house, she looks for signs of life, cars, movement, anything to let her know if anyone was home before she goes to knock.

The breath taking beauty and mystery of the leylines is indeed something to behold and something not unheard of in sleeper society was this something that they were or could be made aware of it being part of the fallen world? How such flows of power go unnoticed by the overwhelming majority would suggest otherwise but all questions for another day.

Aurora has no issue walking up the house her unseen senses to alert her as she passes the threshold of the ward but the time had been taken to ensure it would be no obstacle. Reaching the house she knocks on the door the heavy wood sending echo's through the still abode. And still it remains the reports from the previous party had mentioned a hostile ghost set to guard the location along with whoever it was they encountered on the day.

Frowning, the echo wasn’t a welcoming sound. Usually, homes where there was furniture muffled the sounds of knocks. She had hoped that whoever called the place home had returned and would be there to greet her. Probably a bit pissed at the previous visitors.

Well, she was a Master of Spirit, guess this was the time when she started to see if she could communicate with whatever Spirit resided here. Though she did remember them mentioning the basement. Was it bound strictly there?

There were many questions, but answers would come in time, but first things first, she had to find it, and talk with it. See what damage the stooges had done and if she could fix it.

As she casts the spell, she takes a look around the porch, maybe she could go around to the backyard.

Her spell give view to the realm of twilight, the spiritual aspect of it at least the muted colours of grey, black and white the landscape taking on more of a flying forties feel the essence of the era the street and suburb where trying to capture the flicker of houses a bit more authentic, the cut of hedge rows and appearing garden ornaments, the sanctum of course still standing strong such places hold significant only to looms dark and foreboding a canker on the street the windows pools of shadowy darkness the door knocker now a demonic face this building has negative connotations written all over it.

As for spirts one does stand out, a smartly groomed tree standing tall and proud its lofty branch's blowing in the wind, two leaflets have appeared on tis trunk, one uncle Sam calling you to do your bit, the other an advertisement for a swing party.

Frowning at the knocker, not very welcoming.

An eyebrow raises at the leaflets on the trunk of the tree, complete opposites of each other. But she has to chuckle, this place was all over the map for her.

Looking up at the tree, “Is on leaflet more popular than the other?” she asks it.
