Funderland

Funderland Amusement Park has been dishing up kid-sized thrills since 1946! It is the only place to take the kids in Sacramento that has nine exciting amusement rides, a concession stand, birthday parties, and more. We are conveniently located in William Land Park next to the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town.

Funderland is a public location, but also the heart of Sacramento's Changeling Freehold.

Some Freeholds hide in plain sight, while others hide so well that new arrivals need an invitation and direction to even catch a hint of just where the Lost's stronghold resides. The Freehold of Sacramento is of the former, and has always been, but with the death of the dragon Fairweather, the Lost of Sacramento have taken control of, and are operating an amusement park. A self contained space, a fortress for the Lost, but one where mortals come spend their money, and offer up something more precious; Glamour. The park is divided along the lines of the Seasonal Courts, each having their own ride or featured building, so the Glamour is spiced in the layers of the four cardinal emotions.

Much like the world - the Hedge - beside the mundane one, there is a private world beneath the park -- prohibition era tunnels, passages and even rooms.

For now, the the Park is closed and admittance is only for the Lost. For those moments before Equinox and Solstice, The Eternal Seasons reign....

Funderland was closed today. It was, a couple times a week. Maintenance and such had to be done, but sometimes it presented an opportunity for the freehold to use the amusement park for their own ends! Tonight was such a time!

In one of the areas usually reserved for children's birthday parties, the Queen of the Vernal Court had (with some assistance) set up a pizza party! All in the freehold were invited for an evening of food, drinks and music! Stacks of pizza boxes from a popular local pizzeria was here, presenting a variety of toppings. Meaty, veggie and vegan options! There was also crazy bread! Cooler chests filled with ice held a bounty of beer, soda and water! The park's PA system was currently playing a setlist of '90s tunes! Currently, Hootie and the Blowfish were asking you to Let Her Cry.

Heck, some of the rides were active if anyone wanted a whirl!

Queen Wu was here, of course, a cheesy slice in hand, pepperoni from which she was feeding to her dog Fugly! Sonnie was dressed casually, unlike at her coronation. Jean shorts, bare feet, and a green hoodie, her hair up in pigtails. The Spring Crown was still present on her noggin.

"Who's a good boy, Fugs? You are! Yes! You are!" she sang, laughing. The ugly pooch was just too happy, playing with his mistress!

[Mina]

Pizza Party!!!

Mina had been looking forward to this! She hadn’t been able to help with the Coronation, but she had been able to help with this!

So she had gone to the store and bought ice cream! Ice scream sandwiches and ice pops, in a variety of flavors. Which meant she needed a cooler to put them in. But also wanted cookies, so she had to get those too, in a bunch of flavors as well. Which left her in a dilemma of a cooler, cookies and not enough hands.

So she bought a wagon. One of those little kid ones, that would hold both! Score!

Walking up, she pulls her wagon dressed for the warmer season in short shorts, sandals and a black tank top. A hoodie was in her wagon for if she got cold and her was down and clearly air dried. Around her neck was a silver icicle lariat necklace and no other jewelry.

Spotting Sonnie, a ball jointed arm was held up and she waves, “Sonnie!” a warm smile spreads across her porcelain face as she approaches. Spotting the dog, the smile spreads even wider. “And who is this adorable one?” not wanting to assume it was the one and only Fugly the Beast had mentioned.

Motioning to the wagon, “I come bearing ice cream of all varieties, and cookies!” mismatched eyes look back to dog and a hand was held out, allowing the dog to sniff her hand if it wanted to, if not, that was ok. Sad, and she would cry about it later, but she would accept it.

Vincent entered with a half dozen more pizzas from his local pizza place including a Hawaiin pizza and one with Sausage and Green Chile. Pulling along a cooler of drinks he placed it next to the rest of the food on the table.


"I bring a bounty of food as tribute to the new Queen, and for Prince Fugly I bring," Vincent says as he pulls out a raw steak for the little fuzzball, "an offering of meat." Ending his sentence in a laugh, "Hey Sonnie, how you a faring the royal treatment." Then realizing through his distraction he had missed Mina, "Oh...hey Mina, glad to see you made it. Hope all is treating you well." Vincent reaches into his cooler and pops up with two bottles of rum, "Hope you like rum, I brought two kinds, plain ol rum and coconut rum. There are also sodas for mixers and ice if you want it chilled."

Sonnie looked up and smiled as (one of) her Courtier(s) arrived, and she smiled even wider when she saw what the Elemental had in tow! "The ice cream truck is here! Hi Mina! Wow, nice job on the treats! You really went all out!" She laughed in delight and gestured to where the drinks cooler was placed. "Just park it over there!"

The scruffy canine was immediately curious about the Living Doll. He went over to her and sniffed at the offered hand. Then he licked it and wagged his crooked tail. Dogs were good judges of character.

"Yes, this is Sir Fugly the Brave, Protector of Fair Maidens!" the Monkey Queen beamed proudly.

Vincent arrived with an armload more pizzas, which surprised her. "Vinny, that wasn't necessary. We got plenty of pizza!" Well, if Kray showed up, that might change. Maybe back-ups were a good idea. Sonnie shrugged, "I'm surviving the process. And... Prince?" She blinked and looked at her dog. He'd gotten a promotion?

Said mongrel was busy examining Mina in his usual adorable manner. Sonnie took the offering of steak, blinking even more in surprise. "Uh, wow. Thanks! I'll be sure to cut this up for him later!" She couldn't just give the dog a whole raw steak, of course. The Beast might be often erratic and irresponsible, but she was a good Dog Mom. For now, she buried the meat into the cooler box.

[Mina]

Seeing Vincent approach, and hearing his greeting, which sounded like an overlooking of her, head tilts unnaturally at him, “Oh hi Vincent, didn’t hear you come up.” She was certainly no Fairest, but she certainly didn’t blend in either, but, whatever. “Treating me pretty good, almost all settled in now.” Now that did not mean all unpacked. That could take months because unpacking sucked.

Turning back to Sonnie, “Now I knew I forget something! I should have downloaded some ice cream truck music on my cell and played it!” laughing, that would have been perfect! Pulling the wagon over to where her Queen pointed, she then kneels down as Fugly seems to accept her as being friendly.

“Well, I am honored to meet you Sir Fugly the Brave, Protector of Fair Maidens.” Reaching out to give his head and ears a scratch, “You are certainly a handsome boy, and by the things I hear, one of the best boys as well.” A solemn nod. She enjoyed animals, they never lied and were always there and true of heart. Humans? Not so much. So, animals were always top notch in her book.

“Looks like Fugly is going to have quite the meal. As to all the pizza, we could just eat until we cannot move.”

[Vincent Black]

Vincent grabs a seat and puts down his backpack pulling out some red solo cups, he begins to fill a few with ice. "That is good to hear, you have my number if you need a hand. I know a thing or two about organization. I mean I sort of have to keep organized in my tiny home. Not a lot of room for disorganization." After putting out a few cups of ice and opening up the rum bottles, Vincent gets up and goes to pet Fugly. Taking this time to spend some glamour and activate his contract.

The Spring Queen laughed and nodded to the Manikin, "That would have been perfect! Remember for next time. And thanks for the assistance. You and Sven have been a big help."

Fugly, meanwhile, revels in all the attention and pets! His butt is a-wiggling a mile-a-minute!

Then Vincent used a Contract and started talking to the dog. Sonnie watched curiously as the canine tilted his head from one side to another.

"Fugly happy!" he answered. Without the fae magic, Sonnie and Mina only heard him bark like a normal dog. Though, the Beast possessed the same Contract, so she realized what the Hunterheart was doing, and she seemed fine with it.

[Kray]

He had been to to minds about coming, not a huge one for parties but on the other free food and the real lure seeing the pledge inaction that is what had convinced him. And might also fall under the category of his job? So he grabs a bottle of nice brandy from a stash in Edna's and makes his way out to join the rest of the lost.

Big and tall stores don't offer the widest variety of clothing and its from those the giant has to shop so a open flannel shirt with jus ta plain brown t-shirt underneath and jeans are what he sports today and of course the hedgespun fedora which comes off in a doff to the seasonal monarch. "Uh. Hey Queen Sonnie, anywhere I should put this?" Offering the bottle brandy, while placing the hat back atop his head, nestling his horn nubbins through their holes.

Looking around at who else was already present. "Uh. Hey Vincent." The beast had always seemed to get on well with Spring. That he was talking to a dog doesn't cause the giant to bat an eye.

Next to be held in the Giants predator sweeping search. "Uh. Hi Mina." New courtier present. Looking around but someone rather important did seem to be missing, it was early days yet or maybe the darkling was fetching something or some such.

So for the time being the Ogre grabs a pepperoni pizza, a full one to himself and finds a seat to pick up on the ongoing conversation.

[Mina]

Nodding to him, “Thanks for the offer, it’s just more unpacking.” Rolling her mismatched eyes, “Not a fun thing to do and something I just tend to drag out as long as possible.” It was boring unless she was looking for something. “Though you did mention showing me around the city, now that does sound like fun, more fun than unpacking.” One hundred percent.

She doesn’t pay much attention to him talking to Fugly, people talk to dogs all the time. Just like she had.

Laughing, “Noted for next time, might even throw on a hat too, really complete the look.” Only live once, might as well have a bit of fun with it. “Sven seems the helpful type, and a nice guy.” Quiet, but, most were until you got to know them, so no harm there.

Laughing even more at Fugly, “Aren’t you just all excited!” practically cooing, “I bet you have all the ladies wrapped around your paws.”

Looking to Sonnie, not wanting to give all her attention to the dog, “How long have you had him? He’s so well behaved!” which to her, was a compliment. “Did you being any games?” cause small talk was not her thing; she sucked at it.

Then came the giant Orge, not one you missed entering an area, a ball jointed arm and wrist wave, “Hey Kray!” a smile, unnatural tilt of her head, “How you doing?” those were always safe and good questions to ask.
