Night has fallen over the industrial complex that makes up the sewage plant. The mages stand arrayed in the shadows outside, separate from the glare of modern flood lights and machinery by a rusted chain link fence.

A man has just died around the corner of a building fifty yards away. A security stands over him flashlight in hand, a co worker is near by having reeled away as the man died in his final moments. Currently Only Salem knows of his passing, the larger bloody hole in the neck giving it away to his angled eyes. The culprit the blood soaked rat that currently sits nestled inside Salem's backpack.

This a direct continuation from the previous scene all spent resources, vulgar casts and spell with prolonged or greater duration are still in effect

Philip gave Corn an expectant look, they were in cover so he could give them the makeover. That guy really needs to not be so dramatic with that dying guy. Sure it`s sad, and sure we need to help him, but the chance is an outside one at best, even with Winter`s encouraging words. But Philip tried to re-assess the situation he found himself in, makeover or not. There was a guy that needed saving, a diversion that needed to happen and a compound that needed to be breached. And all of that, he was not going to do blind, even though he lacked Salem`s insane and enviable recon capabilities as Mastigos.

"What`s going on?"
he asked Salem, eager to get an update on what was going on from his enhanced viewpoint. Meanwhile, he himself looked around as well to get a sense of the part of the scene he could see, from his position near Corn.

Corn`s annoyance was palpable, seeing his failed casting, though unsure what exactly he did. But he did give him a sympathetic look for his failure, regardless. After all, it happened to himself more than he could count.

Could you explain the relative positions of the different mages to each other, that Philip can see from his current vantage point.

Corn is still coming to terms that the killer rat is with them. The end of the screams and the bloodied rat is enough indication for him to piece together what happened. He turns to Salem right after Philip asks. "Aaron, Can we... look deeper at that thing? If you have enough control for it to be still for a few seconds? To see if it is a normal rat or carries any ... unfortunate diseases that could compromise our safety. If it is a common rat then we need to find how it ended up where it did. "

Salem blinks a few times, his eyes suddenly a little damp, as he sees this nameless man expire in front of his eyes. His gaze is perched in such a way that he can see all that goes on with that body, the security guard and the other worker, while also giving him a view of his own body, with the other mages nearby. "He's dead.." he says, barely more than a whisper, "There's a guard there with him, and one of the workers. They're likely going to be calling an ambulance if they haven't already. I will keep an eye on them, but I can't really hear what they're saying."

To Corn's question, he nods, "Yeah. That's why I brought it here. I'm glad I was able to grab its mind before it ran off. We need to figure out what happened and how we can stop it from happening again. It should stay calm as long as we don't spook it or hurt it."

The Obrimos wrestled with the instinct. There was a way to save the Sleeper still, even in the face of death, but at which cost?
He closes his eyes for a second, even ignoring Corn's lack of finesse.
A human for a rat... hardly a fair exchange, but this wasn't a rescue mission, they were there to investigate.
"Alright, time to move", he says, "we'll dissect the rat later"

Philips perspective behind the fence with Corn shows the industrial complex spanning before them its many pipes, vats and warehouses currently bathed in the flood lights that allowed for work to be done safely yet the bare minimum has been spent on them and the lack and carelessness allows many shadowy corners and tracks that the mages could take advantage of to reach the nearest building maybe fifty yards away behind the fence. So far the other guard has not left the vehicle entrance. All mages are roughly thirty yards away from the vehicle entrance behind the fence. Corn and now Philip are six or so paces further back into the shadows. Salem and Winter are by the fence.

Corn's valid concerns about the nature of the thing in Salem's back are a good thing to be concerned about after all it just killed a man from the inside out. It sits there in the top of the bag docile as a puppet. Fur red an matted with blood, a rat for all the purposes of purely visible inspection, but scrutiny might revel more?

Salem keeps his vigil, the guard begins to talk into a walkie talkie the exact nature of the conversation unknown but he keeps his eyes adverted from the body. The co worker manages even less composure, for a man who works with sewage you would think he would have a strong stomach, yet he wretches and vomits several feet away.

Winter makes a call and begins to move into action. Fully aware if they are not already the emergency services and likely news reporters would be imminently inbound.

Taking stock of their situation, to say a blood-covered rat scurrying towards Salem was unsettling was an understatement, and so the fascination with Corn`s makeover idea was replaced with morbid curiosity of the beast that came towards them. And Corn`s concerns about diseases or other supernal sicknesses were certainly warranted. Philip decided he`d need Pulse of the Living World up as well, to get anything tangible out of the animal or any other surprises of the animal variety that might be lurking, despite straining against the contagion of his spells. As silently as possible he performed the mudras associated with his rote, as he stuck to the shadows and with Corn.

Info on the rat was more important to him than an infiltration, at that moment. The infiltration could wait as far as he was concerned, at least a couple of moments.

Accidentally rolled Pulse of the Living World with Life 1 instead of 2, but it doesn`t matter. Caught it too late, it stands as-is, obviously.

Cast Analyze Life as a rote. I don't know if it is a supernatural creature or not, so I went ahead and rolled as if it is an animal.

Winter calls for movement.
"Yes, Adam." He replies with a last look towards the rat. "Aaron, perhaps you should... hide our new friend in your bag? Let's not walk around with a bloody rat. Especially at this time. As for the make-over, I could do it once we get inside, perhaps."

Assuming Adam wants them to go in, Corn takes a breath and uses his supernatural will to boost his ninja powers, using another rote in the shadows.

Salem nods his agreement to Winter's orders. When he hears Philip's and Corn's request for him to pause for a moment, he does, letting them scrutinize the animal in his backpack. He'll save his looking at it for later. When they're done, he zips his backpack and carefully lifts it up again. He carefully slips the backpack back onto his back, continuing to watch around the corner before he softly says, "Ready, when you are."
