The doors catch just behind Fu, a clawed hand scrambles for a hold, finds a chance and yanks open. Rust enters with a cooler scraping behind him. He grins up at everyone. Summer mantle thundering and proud.

He says nothing at first, leaving the cool below as he makes his way up the stairs.
"I like the place, it's really filled out. I think it a great Forge." Rust nods to the new face, and note the absence of another. "Fu, I'm glad your recovered. Who is our friend here?"

A light in the back of the club flicks off, then on. Then another; Off, then on. 2 more go through the sequence, silently signalling that they do indeed work. A moment later, the door to the lighting/sound booth opens, and Faith walks out. She sees the group gathering, and heads over straight to them. "Heya fellas," she offers the boys. "Slicey," she adds to include Xerxia in the collective greeting. "New guy," she offers almost nonchalantly to Rook. Her half-empty beer is clinked with Spartan's, and she takes another swig. "How's things?", she asks the group as a whole.

"You're late Rust." Spartan said not suprised. His brother would one day be late to his own funeral. and I will more then likely be early to mine...

Spartan, never a fan of public display's of affection, simply returns the clink and just looks to the group. "Has anyone here met Rook before?" Spartan asks the question like the guy isn't there. Because he isn't yet. "If not he should probably tell us about himself."

Rust frowns a smidge as Faith take's Spartan's side, He brooks no sound to respond to Spartan's accusation. Instead he turns to study Rook. Another elemental. Summer is becoming a fraternity for statues it seems. How would he turn out after he was tested?

Fu walks to the steps and stops, nodding at those who welcomed his return. Recovered? No. But some scars are best left hidden where they will remain for now.

He smiles ruefully and looks at the new guy. "Never heard of him." Not that Fu should have but hey worth saying.

"Nah, you guys won't know me. I only arrived in town a couple days ago, and I'm nowhere near infamous enough to have a reputation preceed me," Rook said amicably. "There's not a lot to tell, really. I was born in Brooklyn, beat cop. Wife and two kids." The ghost of Laura's face drifted across his memory for a moment and he thought that no matter how much he missed her, it was better that she would never know he was gone.

"Got grabbed by the Lords and Ladies when I pulled over to investigate an alleyway, some... year. I don't think it was long ago, but it's fuzzy. So, yeah, something grabs me, drags me through the Hedge, dumps me in a forge and I wake up on a chessboard. Did the completely logical thing the first time around. Thought I was going nuts and ran for my life," Rook gave a little half-chuckle. "Got broken in two by the Kingside Bishop and dragged back off to the furnance. Realised I wasn't getting out." He shrugged. At least his tongue wasn't betraying him. But then, there wasn't much point in lying, so he was safe. He'd told the story a few times anyway. Everyone always asked.

"Fought my way after that, 'cause I'm no coward and I knew how to fight. Suppose that's why it picked me. Escaped when they were remaking me after a fight, booked it through the Hedge, tried to go home, found my Fetch there, figured it was better for my family not to be stuck with... this," the Metalflesh gestured to himself. "Became a bit of a drifter after that. I play piano pretty well, good enough to make a living. Don't stay anywhere long, really. I got this problem with my Mask, hence the glasses. And... yeah, that's about it. That's me. Rook."

Rust listens intently, glancing to Marcus when Rook mentions his escape. "So your moving forward now?" Rust wished he had a beer or something to toast with the man. "I was in the hedge longer then I've been alive, really alive. I don't remember my life before. Best I can tell I've walked past my parents a dozen times already and never knew." The King gives a sigh of remorse at that. What light there plays wrong across his features.

"Our life is harsh like that. But you have to fight back, reclaim any small piece you can. Right Faith?" Rust again wishes he had something to drink. If only to loss some rigidity. "Do any you of recall your life before?" He asks of the rest of the Court. Remembering would serve his purpose well today. Always remember what you lost. Letting go was for colder Seasons.

"Haven't got much choice, have I? It's that or sit there wailing my loss for the rest of my life, and I got better things to do than an endless encore of 'Don't Cry For Me, Argentina'," Rook said and gave another one of those little shrugs. He wasn't sure what to say to the Summer King's story; I'm sorry wasn't really appropriate. He just wasn't so great at sympathy. He was fairly sure he'd been okay at it before.

He pushed the sunglasses back up his nose out of habit and fell silent to listen to what the others had to say.

Spartan snorts, "Wrong Kind of Music for this place."

Spartan turns to back and walks around the Mezanine bar, "Drinks People." Spartan askes the question that wasn't really a question but more of a statement.

Xerxia nods at Rust's question. "You could say it's both a blessing and a curse, having been gone for nearly four years' time on this plane. Taken away as a freshman in college, and then escaped to find that I would have been about to graduate.

"It certainly doesn't help things that I effectively did graduate by proxy..."
she finishes, thinking to the pictures in her leaf-print purse while crossing her arms beneath her bosom. "I just have to evaluate the life taken from me and determine if it is worth retaking."
