Since every other venue is doing this and we are always ready to hear constructive criticism, I figured the Changeling Players should get their chance.

I think my biggest one is that I don't have a good sense of the Freehold or Courts. I've mainly interacted with the Dojo, Ember, and the Empty Orchestra... none of which gave me a feel for the 'society'.
NF has met Michael Derin off-camera, and has gone grocery shopping with him. That doesn't really say "I'm the ruler of the Winter Court."
It just seems as if the Freehold and Courts have been established on 'paper', but not really in-game.

Yeah I think that's one of my big issues too, the court business. I know there was this whole talk about getting the players to fill in court positions to add that life themselves...but that they would need to be worked for. And that's understandable...but cause I have no idea what the court looks like, how they interact, who to talk to, who to butt heads with--It is really daunting to want to start up.
That and if the option is: Work really hard against a lot of ephemeral NPC characters to get a position that won't be interacting with anyone other than said NPC's...or play around with the other totally cool PC's running around. I'm taking the red pill.
As for the current main thread, the market thread, I like it a lot but I will admit I'm having some trouble with its overall consistency. It feels like action happens, people do things, interact, get on their own groove and then we have to backspace, backspace, backspace, forget about a lot of what happened and take it somewhere else. Which is making it feel more scripted and less organic/interactive.
Hah that's all the critique though! I'm having a lot of fun, and I love where it's all going and I think everyone is doing a really impressive job with their characters. So, really other than those things, I think it's all tons o' fun and I am just getting myself situated anyway so I'm sure the inter-connectedness of it all will fall into place sooner or later. GOoooOOOO Changelings!

The points that have been brought up about the Courts (and about the main thread right now) are very valid and I tend to agree.
My question is, do you all have suggestions on how to change these issues?

I think, and I hope not stepping on toes, a moderator/admin co-pilot team system for the Changeling threads would be cool. I mean all the other venues have them! Don't you love us?!? Hah, but it's also that I feel bad just pestering poor CA all the time with every little question that pops into my head, it seems like a lot for just one gal to have to put up with!
As for the courts specifically, I really don't know. I mean beyond just handing out the positions like candy (Which I agree takes the fun out of them) it'll be hard to start filling the positions without knowing the court landscape. So, maybe just a few court functions could at least help? Ya know, every few weeks a different big shot changeling throws a little bash and everyone gets together to bump elbows?

and these are just random thoughts, because I've never ST'ed Lost...
an actual location ?
a ceremony for the Seasonal throne change?
something like the Requiem Acknowledgment to bind the Freehold Oath?
i'll add more those were the ones that popped into my head.

I think CA and I would not mind having a Changeling Mod and we tried to have one at one point, however he left the site for other personal reasons. Right now though, we do not know anyone who knows the venue well enough, or has the time and effort required for a staff position.

Hey, all.
Ok, we can do official court functions as that seems to be what a lot of you would like. That's not a problem. I am trying to integrate the Changelings together, and so the more opportunities for you guys to interact, the better.
And to answer West's (and I'm sure the rest of you have similiar ones) questions:
We do have an actual location. Four Season's Hotel is the main freehold where all the freehold wide meetings and business takes place. The Spring Court Freehold is Club Ember, Edna's Boardinghouse is Winters, and the Fair Folk Dojo is Summer's. I don't have one for Autumn yet.
Sure, we could do a ceremony for the seasonal change.

In the book a Freehold is described as the Changeling community itself.
So, why are their different "Freeholds" for the different Courts? Or are these merely known gathering places for these Courts?

The way I've always read it (and I could be mistaken) is that freehold is also the name given for the typical main gathering place for the changelings or courts in a given area, kind of like a really big hollow.

Oh right, I understad that. What has me confused is the freeholds for all the courts. Now I know that the courts needs some place to gather, but would that still be called a freehold?

It's both. It refers to the community and (probably) a location.
Court (the process) can be held in the Freehold, but Court also refers to the group aligned with the Court, just like Freehold is both a location and group of people.
So Winter could be holding Court at the Freehold, with the Freehold invited, and only Spring Court attends.

Yeah, it's weird like that, lol. I would assume that (unless CA had other plans) that the ruling Freehold would change with the ruling Court, so the main hangout might also change, and might not even necessarily be called a real freehold until such time.

The Four Season's the main freehold. It's the only location that is large enough. The rest are for individual Court functions.

So back on subject, Lords of Summer, if you have it, has a great (albeit short) chapter on the subject of freeholds. It also has some new ideas on what you can do with the seasonal courts.
