 Learning How To Dance, Visiting The Fair Folk Dojo

Ankh followed West's directions as they drove to the Dojo. She was excited about putting her energy to good use. And she had a lot of energy. She could also use the martial arts lessons to better center and calm herself. She'd heard that they taught one how to discipline their mind's for better focus. She really needed that right now. Having West so close to her in the car was really distracting and with the trials to come, she needed all the focus she could get. It was very hard to focus when you lived with a man you were so attracted to.
Shaking the thoughts out of her mind, she pulled into the parking lot and parked. She turned to West with an encouraging smile.
"I promise not to make fun of you, if you prmoise not to make fun of me, deal?"

West was still smiling. Apparently they could just have a normal lunch and talk. He gave directions and watched the sights and wondered if he was being a bit selfish for being glad that Ankh didn't want a 'normal' life.
He almost laughed at her question, as nervous as he already was about taking dancing lessons. Maybe she was worried about the martial arts stuff? He wasn't going to laugh about that, either... there was a reason he carried a pistol.
"That sounds like a great deal," he replied. "Let's see what they've got before I lose my nerve," he said, trying to smile and make a joke of it as he got out of her car.
Dear God, it's West. I mean James. Please. Please don't let them have anything too 'exotic'.

Ankh led West into the Dojo before he chickened out. She looked around when she walked in, waiting to see if one of the instructers would speak with them.
The place was nice, with a lot of space. She looked for maybe a list of what type of dance they offered and what type of martial arts they were willing to teach.
"Can't chicken out now, you're inside and it's too late." She said to West with a laugh.

There is a karate class going on when the pair enter the dojo. It is being taught by two women, although the blond looks a little outside her element with it. The blond sees the pair enter and approaches them.

A faint scent of flowers after a morning rain follows her.

Ankh looked at West, but didn't really expect him to ask this woman questions, so she stepped forward and offered her hand.
"I'm Ankh, nice to meet you. My friend and I were wondering what kinds of dance you teach and when your classes are? I was also wondering what types of martial arts you offer?"

West grinned at Ankh's comment about it being too late. Well, it was true, but there had been a short period where it wasn't.
Looking at the martial artists, he was wondering where the dancing was done as Lily introduced herself.
West nodded and offered his hand. "Hi, I'm West." He was already starting to feel a bit nervous, and trying to keep his mind off the fact that he could wipe their memories, turn invisible, and just leave.
The fact that Ankh was excited and happy about the prospect, and this was the first time she seemed to actually enjoy being with him, were the only things that kept him from seriously considering it. Well, very seriously considering it.

"Hello, Ankh and West. What pretty and unusual names," Lily smiled warmly, "we offer a good variety of dance as well as martial arts. For dance, we offer ballroom, modern, street, ballet, and Latin. We have a new instructor offering swing. As far as martial arts, we offer capoeira, kung fu, escrima, and karate.l We also offer training with weapons if you are interested in that. We have a very flexible class schedule. I can get you a list of the times and days. We also do offer private lessons for up to four people."

Ankh's eyes lit up and she listened to Lily mention swing. She turned to West.
"Oh swing dancing is so much fun. Can we try that first?"
She listened to the list of martial arts, but was not sure which one she was really interested in, as she had no real knowledge on the subject. She decided to talk to Kai about it before she made any decisions there. He had more knowledge then she did, and she did not want to jump into something she might not enjoy.

West raised an eyebrow and gave a shrug, and a nod. Swing seemed... safe enough. It was definitely on or near the top of the list of those choices if he were asked to choose. The capoiera and escrima sounded interesting to him also, but he needed to see if he survived the dancing lessons first.
He found himself smiling again, and he asked, "Can we see a demonstration?"

Ankh looked West over criticly, a feel of obvious desire coming off of her for a few moments. Then, the look turned analytical, and she smiled.
"I don't know, West. Swing is a whole lot of female flinging. Are you man enough to take me on?"

West felt a wave of heat flush his neck and ears as he blushed. If someone had asked him when the last time that had happened, he wouldn't have been able to tell them. He wasn't entirely sure how to take the question, and that look she had given him.
"Uh," he said, uncomfortably shifting and then looking at Lily. "A demonstration?" he begged her.

Ankh smirked and shook her head.
Just as I suspected, very little experience with women. Well maybe the dance lessons will help him a lot more then he expects. It requires a lot of body contact and that might help him loosen up a bit. Otherwise, he'll hurt that stiff back of his.
She turned back to Lily with an apologetic smile. "A demonstration would be wonderful, Miss."

Lily smiled broadly, "Sure, why don't the two of you accompany upstairs to where we hold private lessons-no is using it now. And the instructor is here-but he's running the store since swing lessons aren't going on right now." Lily leads the way to the upstairs studio and store.
{Narration-Description of upstairs}
The room is sectioned off wall with a space large enough to walk through.
Half the room is set up as a store. One wall is lined with shoes, and clothing racks are placed throughout the space. Dresses, martial arts clothing, sweat and jogging suits all hang from the racks in different colors. A counter with a cash register is set up opposite from the wall with the shoes.
On the other side of the wall, mirrors dominate the room. A ballet bar runs along the length of one mirrored wall. Above are speakers, the wires hidden. They are attached to a stereo system in one corner of the room.
When they get there, they find a bored young man behind the cash register. He smiles when he sees them and lights up when Lily explains they want a demonstration.
He puts on some music and leads Lily to the center of the dance floor. The two of them did coaster steps and throwouts across the room. After they were finished, Lily was a bit breathless but took a bow with her partner.

Ankh clapped in delight when the demonstration was over.
"That was excellent. Oh, how long would it take us to get that limber do you think? And when can we start the personal lessons? I would be way too embarrassed to do something like this in front of other people. And how much are the ballet lessons? I think I would like to take those too. That would help with grace and balance and body control of course. Oh, and how much are the clothes and shoes?"
She moves off toward the clothing racks and starts going through them, leaving West to ask his own questions.

Lily laughed as Ankh asked a million questions a mile a minute. She liked this fresh young woman. She followed her to the clothing rack to help her pick out some things.
"If you are signing up for private lessons, we can throw in a discount for the clothes. But how soon is up to the instructor-that's Miguel. Ballet lessons-you'd really have to speak with Miss Quintain. She's the one who teaches them most of the time. And again, because you are interested in more than one class, she will probably be able to discount the lessons for you."
Lily eyed Ankh up and down, "You have a dancers physique and a quick mind-the movements and rhythms will come naturally to you, I think."
~Miguel~
The instructor followed the girls with his eyes for a minute, then turned to face West. Shaking his head, he said quietly to West, "Women." He shrugged and smiled.
"So, sir, did you have any questions for me?" he spoke with a Spanish accent, "your girlfriend seems to be quite taken with the swing dancing. Can't say I blame her-it is a lot of fun. And dancing is excellent foreplay."

West watched the dancing, and was glad that he was already in good shape from running. He had to admit to himself that it looked like fun. As they finished, and Ankh started asking questions, a lot of questions, he was pretty sure he could do this. He'd danced before, on 'jobs', but he'd had 'help'.
He turned to watch Ankh going through the racks, still asking questions while considering the look she had given him downstairs. Then the guy spoke. Men, he understood. "No, no questions... and yes, yes, she does." Then, to make sure Miguel was clear on things, he added, "and yes, yes it is."

Ankh nodded, giving half her attention to Lily and half to the clothes.
"When will Ms. Quintain be in? And I will have to talk to Miguel about the swing lessons. Oh!"
Having a thought, she turned to the instructor. "Miguel, could you show us some basics right now? I mean, if you are free of course."
She had overheard Miguel and West talking but decided not to comment on it. She did not want to point out that they were not dating, she felt it would put more strain on their friendship. And would it really be so bad if they were?
Where the hell had that thought come from? She wondered as she looked West over once again, speculating on his size of pants.
She turned back to Lily. "Where are the men's clothing and shoes, please?"

"Grace had to leave, but she should be back soon-within the hour. Or you can leave your information and she'll call to set up an appointment. Yes, Miguel is free and I'm sure he won't mind showing you some moves."
As Lily was speaking, she picked out a few items of clothing for Ankh. She handed them to her and moved over to the mens section. Lily then picked out a few pairs of pants for West. She came back over to Ankh and handed her those as well.
"Here are some clothes you may like. Now, lets go see about the shoes."
~Narration~
The clothes she hands to Ankh are her size and style. The pants look pretty close to West's size and like something he would wear.

West gave Ankh a confident nod, took her hand and pulled her close.
At least he thought about it, briefly.
Instead he gave her a nod with a raised eyebrow. He wasn't sure why she kept challenging him, but it felt almost like being in combat... an icy calm began burning away the mundane haze of doubt and introspection.
