Kutya'i keeps missing his roommate. It's almost like a humorous game of phone tag.
He doesn't worry much about that now. The wind whistles through his feathers as he wheels above the city. The parks are the most interesting sights, islands of green in an asphalt grid. There are large swaths of the city that the Mages don't consider entirely secure. Most of downtown in fact is believed to be under the control of... some other power. Or so the word goes.

FREEDOM! Nobody who hadn't tried it would believe him, but this was better than Sex, and once you stopped clawing at the air and found an thermal, you could lock your wings and just glide across the city with minimal effort. He'd already spent countless hours as a Bald Eagle, and was just a comfotable as if he had good sense. Then he sees something that pings in his Eagle brain...
Below Kutya'i, the Pigeon was thinking: OOOOOOOO, which is the only thing a Pigeon ever really could think. Then, all of a sudden, it kept thinking: OOOOOOOO, but this time it was a far more urgent OOOOOOOO. If it was just a little more intelligent, and knew any thing about the hunting habits of the Bald Eagle (and was, for the sake of argument, not dead since the only Pigeons that knew about the hunting habits of the Bald Eagle were, ipso facto, dead), it might wonder why it was being held so gently.
After a moment, Kutya'i let the poor thing go, where it fluttered off and promptly forgot everything that didn't consist of OOOOOOOO. Kutya'i, meanwhile, looked for a convient ledge to prch on so he could people watch with his beak open in a silent chuckle. _________________ Invictus; Active Spells (Personal) - Unseen Aegis (Armor 3, Potency 1), Magic Wand

And onlookers below do not miss the spectacle.
"Oh, is that an eagle?" "Oh, take a picture mommy!" "I didn't think those came into cities..."
Hm. Maybe a little too much attention.
Kutya'i loses his admirers and settles on a perch. The busy streets stream with automobiles, and the chill winter air nips gently through his thick downy feathers.
His eyes see with perfect clarity for a huge distance, and his Awakened sight makes plain the things that no mortal knows lives among them.
Tiny squirming things shift along a rooftop across the street, feeding on wafting smog. A man walking towards his car, barely flesh at all judging from the few ragged strips of his body which emanate living resonance from under his garments. A raven on the wing that circles far more purposefully and intentionally than an animal should be capable.
And he also sees the world that mortals see, business men in pairs speaking more to their bluetooth than each other, cab drivers hard at work, newspaper vendors struggling to make ends meet in the age of information.
This is nothing like the jungles.

Kutya'i took pride in the fact that he'd probably end up as the topic of any number of show-and-tells. Then, looking around the city, he felt his interest peak at the abnormal goings on. He dismisses the dead thing, since he couldn't covertly follow it shaped as he was, but he carefully watched it get into it's car while he memorized everything he could about it, especially the license plate. He'd pass that info along when he got the chance. Then he checked the building with the creepy crawlies on it, so he could come back and investigate when he finishes with the Raven.
Using the Trained Memory Merit
Before he took off to chase after the bird into who-knows-what, he looked at it with Magic, measuring out the what of it before chasing off like a fool.

Kutya'i asks the watchtower what the nature of this creature and it responds from beyond the abyssal gulf.
It's a female raven. One year old, physically mature with a healthy physiology and balanced hormones.
But the closer inspection does reveal subtle threads of magic to his ensorcelled sight. The spell on the bird appears to be woven into its living form. He might need to get closer to scrutinize it.

The eagle takes off after the raven, flying as high up as he can so as not to scare it off while he uses his enhanced visual acuity to track the creature from afar

A tiny spiraling cloud of mind magic dons the head of the Raven like a crown.
Kutya'i could glean little more, as the Raven suddenly dives swooping into the city.

FuckIwishIknewSpace, thought Kutya'i, because if he did he could probably put some kind of tracking hoodoo on the bird and follow it at his lesiue. Instead he does it the hard way, nosing into a dive to follow the animal down into the city and closing with it so he can keep an eye on it. If it was under someone's control, then at least he wasn't worried about spooking it. _________________ Invictus; Active Spells (Personal) - Unseen Aegis (Armor 3, Potency 1), Magic Wand

A bald eagle, member of an endangered species and our nation's most treasured bird, dives from the sky down towards the cityscape. It's quarry, a common raven, drops lower and lower and it becomes clear that it is aware of its pursuer.
Now beneath the level of the power lines, it continues to flee.
But it's speed is no match for the noble eagle, and it cannot escape.

CrapPowerLines, those things hurt something fierce. This was all going so amazingly wrong, all he wanted to do was know what was up with the stupid raven. He briefly considered knocking it out, but it might break it's neck...
OOC: planning on casting Control Median Life to make it land and then I'll think of something else to go from there. I assume there's the same penalty to casting as before? _________________ Invictus; Active Spells (Personal) - Unseen Aegis (Armor 3, Potency 1), Magic Wand
