"You're right, it's probably a good idea to head over sooner rather than later. Probably better be ready just in case, you know?"
They hop in the car and make their way southwest towards this Rhino kid's apartment.
The car pulls up to a suburban neighborhood about a half hour away. The sun has long set, and the street is lit by lamplight. Cars are pulled into their driveways along by most of the houses.
It looks like Rhino's renting out of a house. Spotting it as the light umber building with slightly cracked paint and lit windows, the two Arrows walk up the slight concrete incline to the front door, which is slightly ajar.

"No, I can't. The lock doesn't look forced though, maybe he just left it open." Maria's concerned look and voice betray that she's considering going in.
Her hand instinctively goes to her waist to unclasp her concealed firearm just in case. ((edit: concealed))
And then the door swings open.
"Hi." Says the young man cheerfully. He looks intently at the two standing on his doorstep as if waiting for them to say something.

"Rhino?" He pauses, and then breaks out into a broad grin. "Yea, that's me. What's going on guys?"
His posture is casual, but his grip on the door with one hand and the frame with the other is firm.
It's possible to see a little into the house. On the left, the living room is dominated by a big ratty couch across from a tiny TV, and there are some half drunk beers on a beat up coffee table. The kitchen is behind it past a separation. On the right, wooden stairs lead upstairs to a poster of a half-clothed woman and a turn in the hall.
It doesn't look like a person who lives in this place would dress up very often unless he was going out or entertaining guests.
"Rhino my name is Maria, and this is Doctor Roberts. We're here to check in and make sure everything is OK."

A moment of awkward silence passes. Rhino's head tilts slightly and expectantly at Roberts.
"Sorry, I thought your were going to say something. Yea, sure I'm OK. Just had an accident, that's all. Fell right on my butt coming down the stairs, it was really embarrassing."
Rhino wears his smile thin.
"You probably could of heard me from outside, right? Funny times."

Rhino is silent for a moment, and gears whir while he considers whether or not to turn you away.
"You mind sitting on the couch while I get you something to drink?" He asks as he releases his grip and motions Roberts and Maria into the house.
"I'm sorry I'm being so cautious, but you have to understand that it just isn't safe to let strangers in. You know?"
Maria hesitantly thanks him and steps inside, her eyes sweeping over the living room purposefully and then locking with Robert's. Her eyebrows rise as if to pose a silent question.
"How long have you lived here Rhino?" She asks conversationally.

"Not long." Rhino responds. He slips into the kitchen, and the fridge door makes the characteristic sucking noise as it opens.
"Looks like all I have is orange juice, some beer, and liquor."
He returns with a clear jug half full of orange liquid and a pair of glasses pinched between his fingers. Setting them all down on the coffee table, he looks the Arrows over.

"You know, for a while I didn't think there were many of us. Here in Sacramento I mean. But I guess there are quite a few, right? You don't happen to know how many there are do you?" Rhino asks in an aloof tone.

Rhino leans in close and he speaks in a deathly grim voice without a hint of fear.
"I think it's them. Doctor, keep an eye out on the front door. Miss Maria, we can get a better look at where they're coming from upstairs. We don't have much time so you'll just have to trust me."
Maria glances over at Roberts in concern and confusion. How can he know this?

Maria follows Rhino up the stairs and they disappear around a corner.
Roberts is left downstairs to himself. There is silence. Peering out the front door's peephole he sees nothing aside from an empty street.
The silence grows longer stretching until every fiber of Robert's body screams 'something is wrong'.
And then the sound of a foot meeting the steps.
"Doctor, I think we need your help up here." There is a cruelty to Rhino's voice as if all compassion had been stripped from it.
Another step, and he's clearly visible standing on the stairwell wearing the grinning mask of a sociopath. His face has two scratches on it that look like they were carved by desperate fingernails. In his right hand he grips a long, curved sword blade dripping with blood.
"Come on Doc. Your friends look like they need a little magic..."

The Apartment is cramped and cluttered giving little purchase for anything but careful, deliberate navigation.
The madman leaps down the steps in pursuit of his quarry, and clumsily slams shoulder first into the wall at the bottom of the steps. Hissing in pain, he gives Roberts a glare that could scorch the devil himself.
At closer distance Roberts can see that some of the blood is his own, maybe Maria got off a shot. Maybe...
Pinching the blade with his thumb and forefinger, he slides down its full length. The blade screeches with magic as his fingers slide.
