Ankh makes a small gesture to show she is about to speak. "Please pardon my interruption, but I am throoughly confused. You say you need a Cabal to act as liason to the other Cabals. You also say you need experienced people to do this. But yet, you want to split up the experienced Cabal you have here? As small as it is already, to accomplish this goal? That doesn't make sense to me. Unless I am completely missing your intent of course."

Perhaps they were more forward thinking than he had estimated.

This was going better and worse than West had expected. Better, because it seemed they would retain a degree of autonomy. Worse, because it seemed they were not seeing the answer the Magister wanted them to see. Obviously he knew more about the city and it's denizens than they did... so what was he trying to show them?
"I'm sure that whomever you have in mind is qualified..." West says, unsure of what to say.

Ankh thought for a few moments before she answered the question. She understood that this person was in a position somewhere above her. Or so it seemed. She wasn't sure what that position was or how it related to West and Kai, but they seemed to treat the man with respect, so following suit would probably be the best ides.
"I stand with them, as much as I am allowed. I am interested in joining the Arrows and West has been kind enough to take me on as a student in this. So, to be honest, I am really not sure where that puts me in the grand scheme of things, but I can say that I will do my best to be a dutiful student."
She hoped that answered his question. If not, then she didn't know what to say. As far as she knew, she really had no say in the matters they were discussing here. Even if she did, the only other Mages she had met were Kai and West, so she wouldn't know of anyone else to suggest to him.

Fuck me running, West thought. So we've got pissed off Guardians to deal with, and now we're being tasked to take on Banishers? The Magister didn't seem like one to set them up for failure, but he couldn't help but feel like a loosened noose was being placed over them.

Kai couldn't help but get a little excited at the prospects, feeling like the Magister had just given him orders to take care of so many problems. He sometimes wondered if he was mildly sociopathic, but he had to remind himself: Everything he had ever killed was a monster or the servant of a monster, in every sense of the word. The banishers were no better, aiding the mages loss and monsters gains, wittingly or unwittingly, and needed to be stopped.
Kai waited expectantly for his answer.

His voice grows serious.
"Boys, don't level any buildings, and try to minimize any collateral damage. The Banishers have to be controlled. I hope that answers your question."
"But use your best judgment. If you can keep damage to a minimum, we would all appreciate it."

He remembered them sitting outside of the last meeting. The engine was kicking in. He remembered reading Armor, and had learned to find the void around the same time he read that book. He had always felt a certain kinship with Felix.
"It will be done."
He looked at West. West seemed a little uneasy.

Ankh looks at Uldritchmann and sighed inwardly. Why did everyone assume she had no idea what mortal danger was? Or what serious business this was?

The storm has lulled now, and the sailing ship approaches a growing light which seems more real than anything else in this place. It grows in intensity and swallows up everything.
Kai, Ankh, and West find themselves underneath a bridge overhang, within a few feet of the water. A light breeze sweeps through, and they see the spot is obscured to onlookers in either direction. There are a set of service steps along the side to get back up to the street.

West looked around, "Well, if he's meeting with Dex and the 9's, that means we need to wait before contacting them. Why don't we kill some time in the vicinity of the Bismark, where Cartright stays?" Looking over at Ankh, West says, "Nice job with the replies. That was an awkward situation."

West trails off, then continues, "Or we could go touch base with the Mysterium while we wait for the Magister to have his meetings with Dex and Cartright. They're the only Diamond Order we haven't met with."

"If he is a member of the Silver Ladder, then a direct approach would definitly not be a good idea. Don't get me wrong, some of them see it as a refreshing change, but those are few and far between. I would go with the mirror idea, or find out if he has a "secretary" of sorts and make an appointment through that individual. They are much more inclined to respect those who are willing to communicate with them on their level, rather then expecting them to do it on yours."
She shrugged, it was only her simple opinion, but it made sense to her.
