He's taken out his laptop, and has been taking notes on the meeting the entire time. Apparently someone had been bloodhunted or something, and now they were speaking of Mandragora, something he had just a touch of knowledge about.
"My cotorie-mate's brother grows Mandragora. Usually, it's used in the production of Lacrima--which can be mixed with the blood of mortals or even be drank pure--though I wouldn't recommend feeding it to mortals.
"I've not personally heard of Mandragora attacking Kindred, however. Unless I'm...speaking out of turn?"
Because sometimes weird shit happened. As a Dragon?
He would know.

Martin had been about to say something to Lioni, but bit it back as Taquin began speaking. Just as well. There was probably no amount of backpedaling that was going to salvage the situation. So instead, he sets his jaw in frustration and listens to them talk about... what? A type of plant, that you could Ghoul? Certainly this must be some sort of prank being pulled on the newbies. Although this was the second time in Sacramento he had heard such a thing...
It was going to be a long night.

Oh... SERIOUSLY... how long could this go on? Ghouled plants. Yes, we know. We heard. We've all heard. Ad nauseam.
Antoinette slipped her iPhone quietly out of her bag, keeping it under the table where no one would see, and touched the new "Mind Reader" app she had just downloaded. This should keep her entertained for at least 10 or 15 minutes while they yapped about vitae-eating foliage. And other boring things. Blah.

Aura looks almost desperately across the table at Nicolo, wanting to talk to him very badly about the Lancea Sanctum. She attempts to catch his eye without attracting attention, and when she thinks she has done it she traces the table top idly again as though fiddling like she usually does, tracing out her 'cell phone' number and hoping he can figure it out, all while staring devotedly at her sire.

Lioni stands and looks at her childe with an exasperated expression.
"Don't sit there looking at me like I am stupid, girl." She motions to Nicolo. "If you want to talk to the man, then just say so."
What is her problem? If she does not stop acting like a whipped dog then I will show her how a whipped dog truly feels. She thinks, angrily.
Then, she turns to Asa and bows. "Thank you for your time, Priscus. As always, if you need anything, do not hesitate to ask."

Aura looks for a moment like she would prefer to be staked again than be stuck there with Lioni staring her down and being altogether terrifying.
She stares at the floor again, digging in her purse for a scrap of paper and writing her phone number and name on it in an elegant flowing script that would look completely acceptable in a book of hours or hand written bible.
Signoro Nicolo...I would enjoy speaking with you about your covenant, I do not remember many things from.... *she stops, not seeming to know if it is appropriate to talk about her staking*, before. Such is my burden to bear, but if you have any free time I would be most grateful.

Nicolo stands and walks over to Aurelie. He folds his arms and smiles, looks to her then over to Lioni who is busy speaking with Asa. It almost feels as if he is being set up for something.
"Miss Aurelie, I would like nothing more in this world than to speak to you at great length about God and our Dark Prophet Longinus and what it means to be truly Damned. Nothing, " and he moves in closer at this moment, his black eyes pools of bottomless nothingness for her to be lost in, "absolutely nothing, could make me a happier creature."
Nicolo reached for her hand to kiss it again, but this time he gently flipped it over and kissed the tender inside of her wrist, where her veins coursed just below the surface of her translucent skin. So close, his lips could feel the vitae beneath. And intimate moment, certainly not meant for a meeting room.
"May I call you?"

Neil looks around for a moment, it seemed like this was all but over. Standing up quickly before anyone could leave Neil spoke "I would like to make a quick announcement, So everyone is aware I have two safe rooms here perfect for daysleep. I make these freely available to all Ventrue in case of an emergency."

At first he just tried to ignore the fidgety Aurelie; then as things between her, Nicolo, and Lioni reached soap opera status Martin just looked away, finding other interesting things in the room to look at. He looks at his kindred, taking in their features, as if going over their names in his head to be sure he won't forget. He watches their reactions to what is going on. And in particular, he seems to look at Baron Quinton, and Antoinette, but not directly--his eyes simply seem to return to these two often, before flitting off to observe some other detail.
As Neil stands Martin looks to him, and nods at the announcement. "Thank you for your generosity," he ventures, half-wondering if anyone was going to censure him for this remark as well.

When things look like they're breaking up, Antoinette stands and walks away from Baron Quinton quickly, without a word, with just a slight limp that immediately disappears as she heals her broken toe. She makes her way over to Martin and Neil, because she has noticed Baron Quinton sizing Martin up during the meeting, so she is guessing he is the most interesting Kindred in the room tonight.
"Good evening Master Martin, Master Neil." Her smile is genuine and she shakes both their hands. "Master Neil, that's really cool about the safe rooms. And if either of you are ever over in my neck of the woods, I'm at top floor of the J Lofts on J Street downtown. You're always welcome if you need a place to crash." Antoinette then focused her attention on Martin. "So, Master Martin, you're new here? What brings you to Sacramento? What do you do to keep the nights at bay?"

Martin shakes Antoinette's hand, a bit surprised. He'd already gotten himself used to being the whipping boy in the room, so to have someone actually be warm was a shock. "Miss Antoinette," he says. "Thank you for your invitation..." He ponders her question for a moment, then answers, "I have come from San Francisco to build my reputation, as have we all, I suspect." He gives a slight smile--genuine, but reserved. "I have spent the last few evenings getting to know the city a bit. Sadly I've had no opportunity to entrench myself in Sacramento, but the time will come."
He glances at Baron Quinton, then back to Antoinette. "So, you are involved with the world of fashion?"

Aura's stunning eyes go wide, another shiver going down her spine. Oh god help me.... she thinks to herself, having never met such an incredibly enchanting man in all of her life or unlife, if her heart could be racing it would be, right out of her chest, fluttering with surprise and fascination...and just the slightest hint of utterly pure desire, not coming from a wicked place like those depraved Daeva.
I would be so honored if you would take time to educate me, she murmurs, totally struck by his gaze, lost in those dark eyes, her pale blue meeting his like heaven and hell touching.
Her eyes then follow his lips down to her wrist, her vitae seeming to sing for him, her lashes flutter as her eyes close for the barest moment.
Please.... she murmurs, not sure if she is asking him to call her or for something entirely different, the girl utterly untouched. Her French accent is heavy, usually a product of her feeling a strong emotion and losing a bit of her English in the process.
I...Yes Signoro, I would be so grateful if you would, I wish to learn everything I can of your covenant... she murmurs once her hand is returned. She recites her number to him, and blushes as she hands him her phone for him to program his number, Forgive me, I dont really know how to use these yet...

Asa stood and thanked Lioni for coming.
He really had things he needed to do --namely the Bloodhunt-- and didn't have the time to watch other make idle banter.
"For those of you new to the city," he said, cutting off other conversations, "You will need to immediately visit the Seneschal at Ballo Della Notte to be acknowledged and be granted Feeding rights."
Asa goes on to explain the locations of the Elysiums and the Rack.
Placing cards on the table with two phone numbers on them, he continued, "The first number is for my assistant, Olivette. The second is my direct number. Olivette can assist you with finding homes, and other intricacies of integrating into a new city."
"That being said, I think we're finished, and thank you all for coming. Please direct any new Ventrue you come across to me, and I look forward to seeing you all carry the fine tradition of the Lords," Asa said with sincerity, and made ready to leave.

Neil smiles, the meeting went well and it gave him a chance to show off the Gilded Lily before he opens it and give him a feel for how the place looked when occupied.
He gives Antoinette a slight bow "Thank you for your generosity my dear I may have to take you up on that in the future but if you'll excuse me for now. " He moves off giving Antoinette and Martin some privacy and looks around the room seeing if any changes should be made.

Antoinette replies to Martin, "Oh, I dabble in fashion a bit. It keeps me off the streets and out of the bars." She flashes him a smile, "It was positively embarrassing how Priscus Asa and Baron Quinton went on and on about the show tomorrow. Please don't feel pressured to come." She looked back a little nervously to where Baron Quinton was standing, "I do hope we'll get a chance to get acquainted better at a later date though, us being family and all. You know the building I'm in if you ever need me."
She shook his hand, smiled warmly, but left quickly to make her way back to Baron Quinton's side.

Antoinette returns Baron Quinton's smile, but her irritation with him is barely concealed below it. "Of course, Your Excellency. Whatever you wish." She let's her words ooze with her sarcasm. But she cleans it up when she turns to Asa and makes a polite curtsey, "Good evening Priscus Asa. Thank you for hosting such a lovely meeting. I hope to see you tomorrow at the show."
She looks to Baron Quinton to lead the way. She can't wait to get him alone in the car...

Martin says his goodbyes to everyone, taking one of the cards indicated by Asa. He slips out and begins to walk a few blocks away, to find a taxi away from the meeting.
((Sorry, my comp at home isn't working. Having to post at work and not much time available for it. Hopefully can get my home comp fixed soon.))

As Asa was getting ready to leave, Olivette made her way up to the new Ventrue that Asa had handed the business cards to.
She bowed to them and then stated, "My Lord has asked me to assist you in any way you need to get settled into the city. Your command is his for the time being and feel free to contact me if you require any assistance, at all. Especially in daytime matters."
She bowed low again made her way back to Asa's side.
