She indicates the paper on the desk.
"This man was the jeweler who crafted those two rings you see there. In San Francisco it was common practice to have rings crafted for mastery of a discipline. I fear that I may have greatly overstepped my bounds. I beg you to help me navigate through this mess as cleanly as possible." She has turned the humility up to 11.

"Call me paranoid, but when was the last time you ever heard of a dainty fingered jewerlyman fixing anything. A very wealthy jewelryman. Additionally, how does a man's tie end up above his head? I also refuse to believe in the concept of coincidence until proven otherwise. The rapidity of the conclusion and the very ho-hum detective work distress me. Finally, the timing is far too close from my purchase of these rings. Not two days passed before his demise."
SHe pauses
"However, your reaction does make things much better. I had been concerned that this was a masquerade breech, and that someone had plugged the gap very quickly, and that I would be next. "I have presented my thoughts. Do you have any advice, Most Sage, Alder Baron Judex Icarus, Priscus of the Mekhet, Esteemed Member of House Millarr. Additionally, do you find the ring appropriate for decoration, or is this city's method of display different than rings?"

"A terryifying power" she thought to herself.

That I am no mere neonate who has done nothing signifigant. I have mastered our Clan's signature discipline. It is a silent demand that they respect me, for I have power. Power anticipated is power done." Mrs. Scotts sounds confident now, but not quite cocky.
