Erika stepped into the hotel, after checking the paper twice more to be absolutely certain she had the right address. She didn't even bother stopping at the front desk to ask, and followed the usual hotel paths to an elevator, and pressed 3. Her eyes glanced down the hall when the doors opened, and she took a deep breath before following it down to door 302. She knocked.

She bowed her head politely, and stepped inside following Icarus' instructions. She waited just inside for him to offer some sort of recognition; rudeness in front of one's elder, let alone one's priscus, wouldn't get her anywhere here.

Erika smiled at the man, as she took a seat on the couch, her purse settling in her lap. She looked a little shocked at the electronic voice; no one had told her he was mute. It wasn't entirely unexpected though, she'd seen the condition in other kindred. None of them had this luxury, though...
"I simply thought it would be a good idea to meet my priscus. I would have left a message beforehand, but my phone has been missing since the acknowledgment meeting at the Seneschal's theater."

Erika nodded in response to the talk of her phone, and responded to it first, with a simple statement, "If no word comes from the theater that they've found it, I'll do just that." She crossed her legs at the knee as she gave it a moment before responding once more, and reached up to tug her long waves into a ponytail.
"I have been acknowledged, true. But I haven't particularly found my place here just yet. There doesn't appear to be as much merit placed in academia as I had hoped."

She nods at his advice, and closes her eyes momentarily, lost in thought. She opens them again, and speaks, "Perhaps I should express interest in a covenant. I avoided them out of necessity of neutrality in New York, but that seems to be of little need here. Certainly not the religious sects, however...not that they would accept someone who uses logic over brawny zealotry."

Erika manages to keep her own face straight at the word misconception, and contemplates for a long minute on his question.
"My conceptions are based on having met the Inquisitor and the new recruit from Italy. Neither of them managed to sit still long enough to do the task employed of us in the Seneschal's office, by the Harpy, Karsh."
She then shakes her head, perhaps I said too much... but responds once more.
"The Crone has rarely interested me, nor has the Sanctum. Despite the obvious ties to my research, the religious tint behind it is a sour taste to me. However, the political movements of the Invictus, or perhaps the Carthian, while not entirely to my tastes, might lend access to such places and resources for my own research to continue, while also finding a place for one whose talents lie in observation and learning."

Erika just shakes her head politely and frowns as she is spoken down to. "Perhaps if you had seen the way she not only spoke to the Seneschal, but to others in the group. If she had simply asked to go out and look for more information, perhaps my views would be different. Instead, they insisted on forcing an unintelligible opinion on the rest of us, without first bothering to look for that information." She shook her head, she knew she shouldn't be expressing anger or annoyance with such a man, but this was exactly the reason she avoided such groups in New York.
"She may be an Inquisitor, but even in such a position, she should have the manners to respect those that were in fact at the meeting to discuss and discover who was behind the attacks; if she had wanted to go out to learn more, she should have done so instead of waiting for our refusal to instantly jump on the idea of VII at her behest. Particularly when she refused to share the information she had on them until all but ordered to do so by the Seneschal."

Erika wanted to say more to the matter, but it was obvious that closed minds go both ways. If he wanted to defend the actions of religious zealots, even if that was the way they were supposed to behave, then so be it. She simply moved on to the next question.
"It could be VII. She was correct in their use of the word cleansing. Of course, they are not the only ones to speak of cleansing; also, on a similar note, it would seem that if they were willing to cleanse the city, they would have simply attacked or come at us in a political fashion, and not wasted time sending messages through neonates and passive-aggressive vines."

"They are a force of nature, but it is through the nature of what they are attempting to cleanse. I have not seen VII in action myself, however there were many impostors who were more than full of themselves, rather than a hatred of other kindred."
She reached up to tighten the ponytail, and shook her head, "Both religious factions, at least in New York, had sects that were a bit more zealous than others. They used the word cleansing in much the same manner, however then it was mainly used only for those not of their flock."

Erika shook her head slightly, in response to his question. "Not all of them, simply the most zealous. They thought that it would be necessary to cleanse New York at one time, through whichever God they worshipped at the time. Obviously, this isn't necessarily the case here, as both were also attacked."
She reached into her purse and pulled out the sheet that Mrs. Scotts had handed out in the meeting. "They were also quite sloppy, and mistook one of the recipients of their plants as Carthian."

"Of course. The new people at the meeting, while suspect, are somewhat exempt, since the recipient in question announced his status. However, there was one that was late...he might have missed it, although I believe he was inside by then."
She folded the paper neatly, and placed it back in her purse, and closed it tightly. "Is there anything else you'd like me to do?"

Erika stood quickly when the cane dropped to the floor, her hand reaching for it and holding it out to him. "Do you need any help?"
She waited for him to take the cane, before acknowledging that she would attempt to find a meeting place.

Erika shook her head, and offered another smile as he took the cane from her. "No need to be embarrassed, we all have our faults. Yours just happen to be more visible." She bows her head, and picks up her purse, "I'll make sure to look for some place secure for our meeting."
