As the changelings watch in disbelief, the smoke continues to fill the sky from the smoldering ruin that was once the Four Seasons and from the corner of their eyes, they notice some activity near the gate to the trod. Hunched, shadowy shapes appear to dash from the memorial. Some of the shapes appear to move on two legs, while others seem to run on four.

Tally keeps a good hold upon the injured Hedgebeast, she slows and glances around. She keeps to a fast walk as she makes out the shadowy shapes. Shit! She can't help but think as she makes them out, she doesn't stop moving though. Her arms stiffen under the injured Hedgebeast as she does her best to be aware of those who just exited out of the Gate.

Stripes is coughing, choking on smoke and ash from the disaster.
The tiger is unsure whether he's amazingly lucky or not. Another few minutes idling at the bar and he'd have been in the center of that.
He manages to stumble into the clear, away from the gathered crowd, struggling to understand. Things were so normal one minute and then... then...
He clutches his head, feeling a small lump there. He winces in pain, wondering just when he'd brained himself. At least he was alive. His green eyes, however, grow wide with worry as he notices something else moving from the memorial. His mantle lets out a low snarl in his ear at the visions.
Anger, hunger, fear...
These things aren't just part of his improved autumn mantle. They're something more. He looks around, his eyes settling on a familiar canine. He thinks hard, trying to recall...
"Tally!" he shouts, charging toward his fellow hunterheart. "Tally! Are you okay?!"
The last time he'd been in action with the other hunterheart, she'd wound up with a massive hob literally taking a bite out of her. Stripes hurries over, his mind still reeling, hoping that she at least had some understanding of what was going on.

Siren's blared. Smoke filled the air. Dust was thick in the breeze. Cries and screams still quickened the ether. Near the torn and trembling wreckage was an alleyway clogged with debris. The Four Seasons Hotel, or a portion of it, had toppled here like the burned bones of a fallen giant. Amid the chaos, in the swirl of ash and smoke, no one saw how a fire-escape, now rendered pointless, twisted and burst open along the axes of rare and curious interstices beyond the ken of science. Smoke poured from those peculiar angles, and in a sudden draft, burning plant matter exploded into reality as if pushed into reality on a great, searing, wind.
Green fell through trod like a toppled menhir, bearing the smoking remnants of a military surplus greatcoat and the shredded remnants of a backpack. He lay for many minutes where he fell, sucking in great draughts of air. Finally, he moved, slower and clumsier than usual, as if in a dream or wading through something thick and viscous. He stared incredulously at the temporary trod through which he had come: it was gone of course, blasted into oblivion on both sides of the Hedge.
He could not speak. His mind reeled.
When he crawled into the street, all he could do was stare at the desolation. He began to rock. And to laugh...
No mortal man laughs that way.
No being of the Earth should have, either.
But Green did.
I believe that Clarity rolls were discussed on a recent thread. ST, is that still required?

"At the moment, rather fine given the situation. Ask me an hour from now as I think I'll have a different answer but first, we got intruders plus a selection of old pets from that trip." Tally tells Stripe, nodding her head to the Owl-bear Hedgebeasts. "I've also got an injured bird in my arms so you mind covering me?"
She alters her course so she comes up within feet of Stripes, she does what she can to match his pace. She's in need of a protector until she takes the time to put the injured Hedgebeast bird into her pack, hopefully that will be comfortable for the birdie.
Seeing what's going on, Vincent can't help but get a little excited. His blood started pumping harder as he ran towards Tally and Stripe. During the chaos, Tally was the only familiar face in the crowd so he decided to follow it. He wished at the moment he could ask if she had any idea what was going on. He was still really new in the area so he wasn't sure what was going on. Was this normal. The mute fireheart didn't think he could write down his questions and keep up, so he opted to just stick close.

Stripes nods at Tally's request. For once he actually understands where someone else's emotion is coming from. The raw numbness, his feelings trying to catch up to the rest of him. And all he wants to do is keep racing ahead, afraid of what will happen when they do.
"Right, yeah," Stripes agrees. "Where do you need to get to for that?"
He takes a moment to check the injured bird Tally is carrying. Just a quick glance over as he and Tally keep moving.
As they move, Stripes sees somebody else coming. A strange elemental he's not familiar with. The tiger stops, raising an arm defensively. With all the fire around, he's not sure about letting a changeling that seems made with the stuff getting close. His mantle snarls as Vincent approaches, the shadowy flickers of motion seeming to converge on him for a second.
"You know this guy?" Stripes asks Tally, unsure whether or not to bring his claws out yet.
There's panic and hedge beasts and hobgoblins and oh so much going on, and the tiger just struggles to hang onto something clear. To who's friend or foe...

ST Note
The second bird continues to circle Tally as she cradles its mate and tightens its arc when Stripes joins his fellow beast. Although he can tell that the bird seems unresponsive, he is unable to pick up on any obvious clues as to what might be wrong with it. However, the tiger's sharp eyes do pick up on the necklace around the thing's neck and he wonders if he might like to get a closer look at it. Then again, you know what they say about curiosity and cats...
From Malcolm's slightly charred condition, it would appear that the Hedge is experiencing some form of sympathetic reaction to the destruction of the Freehold Commons. As the smoke continues to fill the sky, the mysterious shapes that emerged from the trod take cover in the growing shadows of the park after the earthbones emerges from the gate. As the changelings approach, they and wait and watch as darkness begins to fall.

Nova was a cold bitch, at least in the fact that she wasn’t one who had sworn to the freehold. But that was because of actions beyond her own. When the sky had sparked in red to the flame of the dragon and the burning of the central pillar of the Freehold she did nothing.
But then her desire had shifted, and she just wanted to know. As she closed on the distance she noticed the other changeling, her mind rushing though what names she knew to match their faces. Likewise did their expressions fall into her memory.
Tugging so desperately hard on the ribbons that held the Scissors in place.
It hurt, her whole chest all the way down her porcelain arms. She had become a conduit again. A single tear ran down her cheek as she approached.
“Any way I can help.” her voice was touched slightly in sadness, or perhaps anger.

As Tally slowly gets her pack off once Stripes has joined her. She looks over to Vincent, answering Stripes' question, "That's Vincent, he's good, as for why he didn't introduce himself, he's mute I believe."
Unzipping the pack, she gently puts the injured Hedgebeast into the pack. She can only hope that when the bird wakes, they'll be somewhere safe. Tally glances up, after all there's another one flying about the park and sighs upon sighting the Hedgebeast.
The Hunterheart turns at the sound of Nova's voice, answering, "Given we got company in the park, we need all the help we can get." She stands up, bringing the pack along, gently and carefully, she puts the pack on her back. "I'm Tally, this is Stripes, and he's Vincent." She says as way of introduction.
