Einstein nods at the others, looking at Crowley especially. "Just....do your best. You know people, Crowley, right? Ask around, someone's bound to have seen her. I mean, it's not like she's exactly stealthy." Seriously, white hair, and that hat? She would not be sneaking around.
She looks at Truce, smiling. "Alright, let's get to work."

As per OOC Discussion, Crowley will chase up his contacts in Religious Groups rather than Academics. Rabbit is a crytographer; she may have encountered this community at some point in her work.

Once Truce and Einstein have finished pouring through his books to locate information on the Deathless, Truce will review their conclusions before heading over to where Crowley patiently waits.
"Alright, I'll make a few calls to some of my connections. It may be difficult, considering we may not know her real name, but her personality and appearance are recognizable enough that someone may have heard of her."

When Truce and Crowley ran off to go dig up things on Rabbit, Einstein opts to go to the library - one that the Banishers didn't control - and research the one that they did control, locking up the Sanctum behind her. A few hours later, she finishes, returning home slightly more enlightened.
Rabbit calls it the Deathless but it goes by a great many names. It is a grimoire reported in whispers as both cursed and sough after. It hasn't been seen since the early 19th century and reportedly offers the owner a way to elongate life. But Einstein uncovers more hearsay than she does actual tangible fact. Some of the more out th ere sources suggest immortality. Others worn that people have died over it. The Obrimos Councilor finds it hard to separate the wheat from the dross.
Truce uncovers some things about Rabbit that – with his morals and code of ethics might annoy or it might intrigue. A lot of the people they call up praise and curse her name with equal measure. The more religious Crowley and Truce talk to, curse her name as heretical: a treasure hunter and grave robber. A woman who is little more than a thief and a fence who's turned a keen mind towards her own greed.
The more Academically minded cite that, yes, her methods might be 'unorthodox' but she gets results. The woman has uncovered secrets that Academics will kill for and sometimes, sometimes a woman as fearless as her is needed when a lot of others would rather suppress information.
Einstein finds very little about the Sacramento University library. What she does find is a lot of public knowledge: it is one of the oldest buildings on campus, is extensive, and is not known for it's rare and treasured books.

After collecting several testimonies regarding Rabbit's background, Truce is not at all pleased with the result. He had been right to think that she stood out in the academic community, but the series of jaded accounts of her exploits she left in her wake was more of a reputation that he had counted on hearing. His mouth moves silently as he chews on the sour information.
"I don't like it," he says to Crowley within the Sanctum. "She's a loose cannon. She's going to get herself into trouble with this expedition of hers. It's obvious she's using us. She has no intention of allowing us to keep and protect this Grimoire. She just wants to sell it like every other document she's pilfered. Grave robbing, hrmph. Been around the block indeed. I'm surprised she's didn't come in with a hoard of angry Ghosts behind her."
Ah, that's right. His spell to grant him sight through to Twilight had fizzled earlier. He never did get to see Rabbit and any Twilight entities that may have latched onto her. But then that isn't how Death worked. If she sold the precious things found in graves they would likely be anchored to them rather than her. Unless she had killed someone to get those paydays of hers. He would be sure to take another long look at her later.
"Hello, Einstein," says Truce, returning from his background check into Rabbit, though she may have already heard him complaining during his approach. "Well, it seems Rabbit has quite the reputation among the Academic and Religious communities. Turns out she's a thief, a grave robber, and is only in it for the money." His tone suggests an obvious bitter quality to it as he gives her the short of it.

Immortality. The Holy Grail of special abilities, something chased by every human since the species had acquired enough self-awareness to realize that mortality was a thing. Even Mages, who realized that things like Time and Death were simply part of the Lie, had chased it. Einstein was, of course, no exception. Immortality meant an eternity to acquire Supernal power. And help Humanity. In her free time.
Einstein was already sitting in a chair in the Sanctum, having finished her research into the SacU Library already. While she'd been waiting, she mulled over the results of her research, holding just how much she wanted that damn book at bay. She looked up at Truce and Crowley's entrance. "Sounds like pretty much what she acted like." Sounded like the kind of person the Mysterium liked to have around.
Einstein coughed and started thinking about the Deathless again. A massive grin made its way onto her face, despite her efforts to keep it away. "So, so, apparently, the Deathless is a book about immortality." Immortality. Einstein's inner...well, inner Einstein squeed at the thought. "People have killed and died over it, blablabla, typical immortality book or object things. Of course, it's too dangerous to just be left in the library where anyone could get it. We need to take it, and put it in our library. And then, you know, maybe in the Lorehouse." Somewhere safe. They were just trying to protect people from what it might do to them. Totally. No selfishness here. What Mysterium past?
"Tell me again why we are helping this woman?" Crowley added. "She's a merc. Skilled... and probably a bitch because of it. Maybe we should be asking who her buyer is?" He shrugged. Looking back at Einstein, he added: "Find anything to explain what a ghost or a Presence is doing in a university library?"
He stood now, watching the Mastigos with a raised eyebrow. Hungry are you?

Truce gives a look to Einstein that could be described as disapproving, either of her mirth in the prospect of Immortality or because of her treating the deaths and murders surrounding it in rumor as lighthearted things. He doesn't say anything to her but his eyes should speak well enough to those who can listen.
To Crowley he says, "As she says, it's dangerous to leave something of that value in the lair of our enemies. It is strange enough that the Banishers are forcing Awakenings upon the Sleeperwalker population using the GLO drug. One might wonder what they would do with such a manuscript. Burn it? Study it? All in the support of their chosen genocidal paradigm? And even if we don't help her she's likely to make the attempt without us. If Banishers are searching for Sleepwalkers then she'll make a prime target."

Einstein returns the disapproving looks of her cabalmates with a blank look of her own. What was with the sudden disapproval? She was just excited. Immortality was a Big Thing, and Einstein was completely surprised they weren't just as excited as her at the prospect. Eternity to research, to help Humanity and to attain Ascension! How could anyone not be excited?
She shrugs at Truce. "I can make her look like a Sleeper too. It'll just limit the number of spells I can maintain at once." Those limits annoyed her sometimes. "But, she went there once already, and apparently all they did was keep her from looking around. Maybe they just didn't notice, I guess? But it could also be that they specifically don't care about her." She pauses for a second, then blinks suddenly. "Oh, also, I did some research on the library while you guys were out. It's the oldest building on the campus, apparently, but I didn't get much else. It could have accumulated a ghost at some point, but there's really nothing to suggest it." Beyond being old, really. But all sorts of things happened in the back rooms of universities, and never saw the light of day.
