'Sure, the office over there is the Seneschal's office, but Horus here is waiting to get in already. Busy hours for the man.' He points to the office, and then to Horus.

He moves his hand towards the Keeper's office any says with les certainty then before: 'And I believe that is the Keeper's office, where the Keeper is of course, so that are two Kindred with high ranking to speak to. The Prince should be in court too, but you'd better not go to him directly because....' Chris walks to the rules that can be seen somewhere in the room. '... I guess you want to follow the rules.' he adds a big smile to the conversation.

"Well then, would you happen to know who the Priscus for clan Mekhet would be?" Thomas returned his hand to his side and with his uncovered eyes began a visual search of the room, looking for anyone who fit the description he had been given of the Prince. Not seeing anyone matching his information, he again turned his full attention to the Kindred in front of him.


"If possible I would also like to meet them and introduce myself."

'A mekhet, nice, I'm also a mekhet. Our Priscus is Wilhelm Von Schusten, and I just got his number...' Chris takes his mobile phone and looks for the number. 'I can give it to you, and then we can exchange our own numbers as well, if you don't mind? It's always good to know your clanmates if you ask me.'

Then he gives Horus with a questioning look: 'You can have my number too if ya want?'

Turning to Thomas again he reminds himself he also needs to see his Priscus, so he gives Thomas a suggestion:'We could meet him together. Perhaps I can call him now and ask if he can come to Avalon, or we go to a place he prefers.'

"Yesterday," Heathcliff says emphatically. "We are at least one step behind our enemy's plans. We must endeavor to catch up as quickly as possible." This was not entirely true. The Seneschal was fairly certain that the crux of their plans, the production of the Lost Nights Virus, could not be reasoned out faster than he could decrypt the notes of Dr. Grimm, but it was not a claim upon which he would stake his Requiem. "Thank you for your assistance, Dwight. I will expect to hear from you soon." Heathcliff could hear the growing clamor outside his door. "If you'll excuse me, it sounds as though I have other appointments this evening."

As Dwight leaves, Heathcliff goes to the door to see two unknown Kindred as well. Like the heads of the hydra, two more had sprung up after he had finished with Wooding. His Beast sought escape from one, goaded him to test his strength against the other. "You gentlemen are new arrivals? Wonderful. I am Seneschal Staley. Please come in," he says to the one of greater Blood than he, making an attempt at self-assurance in the face of the superior predator. "I will be happy to speak with you," he says to that of his equal, "when my meeting with this gentleman is concluded. Please make yourself acquainted with our Laws while you wait."

Heathcliff makes his way back around to his chair behind the desk, asks his interviewee to "Shut the door behind you, please, and have a seat." Once he's done so, Heathcliff asks him to "Tell me about yourself- specifically, your name, your Clan, your Covenant, your Sire, your previous residence, your reason for coming to Sacramento, your plans while here, whether you have familiarized yourself with our Laws, and if you have any questions," in that droning, monotonous, nasal voice.

Sorry for the bum's rush here, people, but I want to get through these Acknowledgments and get you all on your way as quickly as possible. Heathcliff has asked Horus in first, in case there was any confusion about that.

*Ciara blinks twice at the man's words. She can feel it growing inside, bubbling to the surface. She tries to hold it back, but if finally explodes. The thin Ventrue's mouth splits open in a full-throated laugh. She quickly covers her mouth with a hand, fighting to get herself back under control.*

Please... please forgive me; that was the last thing I expected to talk of. You must have spent an extended time away from the city Mr Pope; the title of Prefect isn't an honor, it's a death sentence. The previous Prefect disappeared for months, even before the Movement was deemed persona non grata. The two before that each had the Blood Hunt called upon them. I expect the election of the Prefect will be used as a punishment, not an accolade.

*She finally manages to get her giggles under control, studying the man for a moment before speaking.* I must say it is odd to seek out others to support; our kind usually take any means to grab the spotlight for themselves, not help others obtain it...

Lenny smiled at the laughter and when it subsided he spoke calmly. "Gabriel Marcus was Bloodhunted for violating the Masquerade's first and most important Tradition. Jack Bennett knowingly Sired Childer despite the Law. I was there when we acclaimed Arnoud Giessen Prefect and I was named Myrmidon and if Mr. Giessen chose to remain politically active I have no doubt the Movement would flourish under his direction."

He enumerated the aforementioned Prefects watching closely to see if she knew what he was saying or if were simply going off of hearsay as well as to let her know that he was well aware of the Movement's history within the Domain.

"I had gotten the impression you weren't one given to such... antics," he smiled brightly, referring to the Breach and Siring with a lift of his eyebrows.

Woaw, the contacts are piling up! Thinks Chris with a happy thought This court is really great.

'Hey, nice to meet ya. I'm Chris Wooding. And I'm indeed new in town. Is it always so busy in here? Someone really needs to give that man a break.' He points to the Seneschal's office when he says that.
'The fact that you don't recal me from court means there has just been an important court? Where everybody should be?' Some politics of the new town would be very interesting to hear.

*Ciara can only shake her head.* If Mr Giessen had remained active, perhaps the Movement would be in a different place today. And if events in my life had gone differently, I might still be in London. Either way, we must deal with the situation as it currently exists. Our membership is limited, whose we do attract tend to be more idealistic than realistic, and the only good thing we can say about our reputation within the city is thank God we're not the Lensea Sanctum.

Until we start talking about Prefect, we need to first see who we have within our group; the ban on the Movement made it hard to keep track of new arrivals. Only when we have full accounting of all present and prospective members will we be able begin narrowing the field for Prefect. Personally, I doubt I'll be the choice. My management style tends to me more... corporate in nature.

And as for what "antics" I indulge in, they all take place behind closed doors, I assure you.

Lenny smiled at the last bit, which could be taken as flirting, teasing, a simple statement of fact... or even a warning. Although he doubted she had the means to Diablerize him. The smile widened slightly into a grin at the thought of baring his fangs and jumping across the desk at her.

A shame Kindred couldn't shit themselves.

The reasoning was sound, although he doubted there would be another Carthian who was of the Prince's family, and held a position within the city -- and was therefore assumed to have some degree of acceptability and trust with the Prince. More than likely there would be disenfranchised rabble but he didn't bother to point it out, or that her being the most qualified was a foregone conclusion. Most likely she would listen to the disagreement and turtle up again.

"Corporate?" he asked instead. "Would you elaborate? Prefect Giessen and I had long discussions about the Movement and I'm always interested to hear other viewpoints."
