[Kaze]

Kaze grins, "Pain is just weakness, leaving the body." he says in a tone like he's quoting someone.

"Thanks though. I really do need the practice. And I am used to the pain. I mean, I was trained like whatever I have to do, I might have to do it in a lot of pain. You know?" he muses, "I kinda think it's the only way to learn what you can really do...that, it's actually pretty amazing how much you can hurt and not be messed up permanently or die."

Kaze grins again, "And like it says in The Book, 'Wounds from a good friend are better than kisses from an enemy.'"

[Sand]

A laugh, a slight tip of whiskey. Understanding.

An eyebrow lifts. Surprised @ the belief.

"Really?" A laugh, "I guess I can understand. I do spend a lot of my time working. But nope, during college if I wasn't in the lab or library, you could likely find me at some drinking venue or other." A pause 2/ reflect, "Maybe not so much the dive bars. The smoke just is too much hassle. But pubs and breweries..."

3rd laugh = embarrassed.

"Which totally makes me sound like I might have a problem. As far as tonight, the theater felt a bit ... uncomfortable I guess if that makes sense? Not in a bad way of course," hastily added.


"Just - quiet maybe. Made my thoughts loud and I wasn't interested in listening."

Head tilts, wry grin 4/ Campanella. "I might also say and ask the same about you,"

[Campanella]

Campanella huffs and makes a smile.

"Loneliness. The weight of expectation. I suppose there is a certain burden of duty in there somewhere as well. The weight... is to be expected. I have no choice in the matter. And sometimes I simply wish to rebel. Consider this to be my rebellion."

He was staring at the jug of ale.

"And perhaps after attaining Mastery I simply wish to cut loose for once. It makes for a convenient excuse not to consider my options."

[Phoenyx]

"That so?" Phoenyx retorts sardonically. "We'll see if you still think that when I crack a few of your ribs." She sips her drink but doesn't stop smiling.

She tucks a stray hair behind her ear. "That's pretty grim for you. I thought you were all light, bubbles and duty?" The Mighty cocks her head.

"I'd rather avoid the wound part altogether," she says with a half-shrug.

[Kaze]

Kaze looks serious, "I...there's a saying, 'Better to sweat in training than bleed in combat.'" he says. "But, bleeding in training is even better, if I'm not good enough, it's a lot better to be wounded in training. And, if I'm too slow in combat, it might not be me that gets hurt. I...I would really hate it if you ever got hurt because I didn't train hard enough, or hesitate." he says. "I...I do like to keep positive. But, I have lost people. I want to do everything I can not to have to go through that again."
