"I apologize, I suppose it must have sounded that way. It would not be my intention to use the Mind Arcanum to perceive your thoughts, but to monitor your emotional state and perhaps even assist you in an Astral journey if you wished to attempt one. I've only recently learned of such things, but it is my intention to further my understanding of that Realm. But yes, perhaps that would be inappropriate."

Truce pours the tea and adds the honey as promised and brings two cups back with him from the kitchen of fresh tea. He sets one before Mace on the coffee table. "Careful, it's a bit hot," he says and then sets his own down across from her where Truce takes his seat.

"Now then, on the subject of the Councilor position. I want you to know that I am mostly prepared to take over the position if that continues to be your wish. I have been doing my best to be attentive to the policies of the Charter and the stances others have on it. The Councilor Meeting is perhaps a good example of that. But I would really like your assistance in helping me prepare for the position. Such as what decisions I may be expected to make and what protocols I will be expected to follow."

"I appreciate the offer," Mace said after a moment. "I'll think about it." That was about as much as she could give him on the subject at the time. The idea still sent shivers down her spine, after everything that had happened. Still, she was thankful when the tea appeared. She leaned over the cup and inhalred, letting the scent waft into her awareness. To clear her mind with the smell of it.

"I really think it would be best," she said. "I havent made a stellar standing as Councilor, we have to be honest about it. Maybe I could learn, and maybe I'm not giving it a full shot. I don't know. But right now, this has been tearing me apart." She sighed. "There are still a lot of decisions to be made," she said. "There are still some issues with the Charter that need to be hammered out. We made some changes to the Apostate/Independant issue, and the trial proceedure, and the councilor restricitons," she said. "But there will still be more issues to discuss. Personally... I think some rephrasing of the way the Great Rites play to Independants will need to be considered." she shrugged. "As for protocols, there will be the trial of Striker, but I think most things are still up in the air."

She let out a breath. "As for what help you need, I guess there's a couple ways to handle it. I'll help either way, sure. But I guess if you really want it to be all official like, we could just...trade?"

Truce listens, nodding carefully as he sips at his tea. There were many issues to keep in mind and that is what he feared most about the transition, being unprepared for it.

At her sigh Truce smiles. "I was just about to suggest that. I would very much like for you to remain on as Provost to assist me, if for no other reason than your experience in the past as Councilor. It would be invaluable to have your advice and participate in official matters. And, no offense to Pelican, but he doesn't strike me as the sort of person to step up to this kind of responsibility. Level, maybe, though I hardly know anything about the man."

Truce sets his tea cup down and folds his hands together in front of him. "But I don't want you to feel as though you have to fill the Provost position either if that remains too much for you. If you need some time to recuperate...I would understand. Either way I will take on the Moros responsibilities of overseeing the trial and revising the Charter. We can cover what was said at the Councilor Meeting sometime later before the trial begins."

"So, shall we make this official? At least until the Moros meet again and find a more suitable candidate anyways." His smile deepens for a brief moment at the thought. Perhaps he would find himself in Mace's position by next year, struggling under the burdens of keeping the Consilium together. Who knows what changes could take place between now and then.

Mace let out a sigh. "How about this. I'll try, and I'll come to you first if it's too much," she said. "And yeah, I guess it's all up to the Path, but ... they knew what I was trying to do, and they supported your appointment. I don't think you'll get too much from them." She nodded, and held out her hand. "About as official as we can do between the two of us, I suppose."

Truce nods his understanding, his eyes looking down to the tea and then returning to hers. "That's fine with me. One day at a time."

The torch passes without any triumphant horns or celebration. It is simple affair, a subtle transition, as befits their Path. Truce reclaims the tea cup in hand and sips on it once more, drawing more in as the temperature cools.

"So, shall we talk more about the Charter or the Trial, or is there anything else on your mind you'd rather talk about? Or we could just catch up on more mundane day to day? Have you gotten much farther in your graduate studies at UC Davis? I seem to recall you mentioning that before."

I'm still game for continuing this thread, but if you'd like to wrap up to preserve continuity feel free to say so

"I think you know most of what I know about the Charter," Mace admitted. "As for the Trial, well it really must be your own judgement. All that we'd gotten before was Asp's preliminary report." She smiled as he asked about her school. "School keeps me busy," she said. "I actually have office hours soon, so I should probably head out in the next, oh 15 minutes or so?" She gave him a smile as she sipped her tea. "Thanks, for doing all this. I really appreciate it. And I'm sorry it's getting dumped on you. Let me know if you need anything."

Let's wrap this up so that the Consilium timeline isn't too horrible.

"Very busy, I see," says Truce with a glint of humor in his expression. "Very well. I'm glad we had the time to chat this over and that we see eye to eye so easily. And you're very welcome. I'll do whatever I can to help this Consilium regain order and prosperity."

After enjoying the rest of their tea, Truce escorts Mace out of the Sanctum, bidding her a safe journey.
