    The door continues to swing open, and the Magic 8 ball is ducked, smashing somewhere in the van.

    The man inside? The black guy, who'd given him the look as he'd walked past the scene at the restaurant. He had a little smirk on his face, and a pistol in his hand - but when he fired, it barely made a sound.

    There was a painful prick in Falstaff's shoulder, but it wasn't horrible. Like, he'd taken a dart?

    He just felt woozy. So very... woozy...

    Please roll RES+STA-5. On a failure, Falstaff falls unconscious. If he succeeds, Falstaff is UP!

    Free drugs at least . . . His vision swims. Murder . . . Rape . . . No. The little man fights to stay conscious . . . somehow . . . does? He tries to think of what a smart person would do. He could stab the guy, maybe spill a little blood for those crime-show guys to find. Nah. The guy's black; everyone will think it's a hate crime. He could pluck and chuck the dart . . . but the guy probably wouldn't forget it. He could consult his 8-Ball . . . wait, no he can't. Damn. He decides to stab the back tire of the van, stall for time--hell, he might even make the guy late for something important . . . bastard.

    ...and the umbrella, which is so not one, slides deeply into the tire, deflating it.

    The black guy actually looks vaguely concerned as he pops out of the van and goes to grab at Falstaff. The gun is nowhere to be seen. "You fuckin' serious, guy?"

    What. The. Fuck. Who stabbed the tire of the van rather than the guy shooting him?

    He was so flustered.

    Now all he has to do is stab the front tire . . . most cars only have one spare, but . . . he's not cold anymore . . . he's . . . sleepy. It occurs to him that the concrete below the black guy with a gun and an abduction van is the perfect place to take a nap. They can sort out all their misunderstandings in the . . . fucking 8 Ball was right.
