This guy's definitely no novice, not with those moves. Geist leans over the chess board with furrowed brow before poking a piece and pushing it over to where he thinks it best. Chessing, everybody!
"So...Mysterium huh? Lots of. Mystery." This is going perfectly fine.

Orpheus chuckles softly at Geist. "Yeah, I guess you could say that."
What Orpheus probably meant though was 'You have no idea'
Regardless, the Mystagogue seems to be off his game now. Maybe it's all the talking, or the time it took to get this game started. He sees himself falling behind and bites his cheek. Gotta start playing seriously now.
While Orpheus flounders, the Moros is on top of his game. He had been hoping for more time to chat but if he's not gonna beat around the bush when it comes to nabbing a win. Geist expertly takes away Orpheus' advantage with a little move he caught from his match with Idun. Talking seems to unfocus the dude, so Geist keeps the conversation bubbling along.
"I knew another guy who was a Mysterium Obrimos back in San Fran. Knew some crazy Forces stuff, nimbus like a thunder cloud over his head. Kind of a douche though, dude still owes me for fixing the carburetor on his Camaro after he tried to superjuice his shit. You a Force guy yourself?"

"Yeah, I'd say it's one of my stronger fields." Orpheus comments idly. He'd hardly registered the Moros was speaking now. He was playing for keeps now.
Orpheus had a plan, now the question was whether he could get it through in time. He was going for it though. The Mystagogue's hand moves one of his remaining pieces, taking one of Geist's as the piece lands in its square.
"Aaaaaaand that's game."
Geist takes the shot and the familiar feeling of victory washes over him. Third time in a row he's been privy to delicious win. I'm not even good at this game!
Just as the Mystagogue gets his act together, the Punk takes him down. The Moros hangs forward as he makes the winning move and eyes Glasses for any hint of annoyance, anger, or at least surprise. He's almost hoping that the other guy gets salty; sure its nice to be nice, but everybody whose lost to him been such a good sport about it that its starting to get to him. Sure it feels good to win, but it feels even better when the other guy loses.

She'd quietly observed from a distance as the Herald and the punk dueled it out, but she'd already taken a seat at another table, taking up white. If the other wanted to protest, let him protest. She'd gone last every step of the way so far, she wasn't about to do so in the finals.
Mandy had already prepared herself, already, pulling out all the stops. She had her Cabal to represent, here, and it would be entirely shameful and discourteous to both Ariadne and Leo for her to lose at this point. Especially to, if she'd heard right, a Free Councillor? That was a joke. Never gonna happen.
Her hair was pulled back out of her face rather pointedly to prevent distraction, her mind set to the task of pre-analysing the moves she'd seen from Geist already, and going over the information she'd gleaned from the games she'd already played. She was ready. She was in the zone. She was focused.

After leaving the table with Orpheus, Geist finds his final opponent already seated. On the white side of the chess board. Staring at the Chessboard as if she's attempting to set it on fire. Which she very well might be given the current company. Well fuck. This is gonna suck donkey balls.
The Punk slides up to the table with his hands in his pockets while he looks over the woman in white whose subdued and elegant attire clashes with his bastardized studded blazer and his ostentatious chain buckle belt. He slips into the chair at the black side of the table, looking askance at the woman at the other end.
He dares a wave and a tenative smile. "So uh, hey! My name's Geist! Moros, Free Council. Holy crap, we're in the finals. Didn't think I'd get this far to be honest; I don't even like chess. Just wanted something fun to do that didn't involve me getting hit with sticks or going home with a bloody nose." The Moros hopes that running his mouth will get the other Mage a little less frosty.

She offered a polite smile to the other. No disagreement with her taking white? Lovely. "Hello. I'm Mandy," fuck the full names, she was getting tired of the repetition, "Warlock of the Veils. It's a pleasure to meet you."
She took a moment to listen to the rest of his words, before covering her mouth and laughing a little bit. Getting hit with sticks, or going home with a bloody nose, huh? "You could've gone running, or done archery?" Mandy suggested with a little smile. "But chess is a good way to learn a lot of things and do a lot of things," she added absently, "so congratulations on making it to the finals. You already beat one of my cabalmates," Mandy smiled, "but I promise you I'll be more challenging."
As she began to make moves on the board, her gaze settled on him thoughtfully. "Not to stereotype, but you seem pretty chipper for a Moros," she mused.

Ice in his veins. She's a Mastigos. She's a Guardian. Geist barely registers her opening move with that delightful little bombshell spilling all over his day. He finds himself suddenly donning Avis' Serious Business boots. His tentative smile falls away like flesh off the bone to be replaced by a growing frown.
"I did the running, yeah. Didn't suck at it. Just didn't win. Felt off without wheels under my heel." The suddenly clipped phrases and the way he bites into them like hard candy speaks volumes as to how he feels about the Order that sent him none too subtle threat to get out of San Francisco. He doesn't ask which cabalmate he beat. He doesn't quite care to be honest. Geist is devoting his efforts to beating the Guardian before him.
He does briefly brighten at the mention of being more chipper than most Moros. If only because he's conflicted with defying the taciturn Moros stereotype and fitting Mandy's expectations. He goes with defying Moros stereotypes for now. "Life's worth living, y'know. Being buddies with death shouldn't change that." He lets the small smile hang on his face before he wipes it way.
