Asp grinned genuinely at his excitement to show her some tricks. "I do. It sort of reminds me of home." It might do to cut away at the little homesickness that was still sort of lurking there in her mind.

Her attention turned to the wall, and she laughed as the staff came around to hook them up and put them on belay. Yup. There might be a little competition going on here, if he could compete. "Absolutely. And don't worry. There will not be any 127 Hours stuff going on here. Just... spider on up, you know?"

It was easy for her to say.

The staff came by, giving them both the usual speal. Don't roughhouse on the wall. On belay, belay on, relax if you need a break, that sort of thing. Asp had heard it before and was good to go, but safety first.

Or maybe it was liability first.

Listen. Very, very different. Out in the field, if a line needed done at height, you did it. Or you called in that you weren't, and didn't get paid. There wasn't anyone that showed you how to put the harnesses on, even. Verrrrry different. No roughhousing. No roughhousing on the wall. Who did that?

Funny thing? Actually made him a bit more confident about the situation. Which he needed. Chicken nuggets were not confidence inspiring.

"We'll do that. Or, wait. Better idea. How about a deal? You get the show if you promise not to tell anyone if I fall?"

Total bluff. He'd show her anyway. Just wanted to get it out there that any epic fails were between them.

No sooner had the words come out of his mouth, Asp replied, "Deal," giving him a broad smile. She totally never admit it, but she loved card tricks.

With a look to the staff member that had her on belay to confirm he was ready, she put her hand on the first McNugget. "C'mon, Jack. Let's get to it!" she said with a smile as she started to navigate the course, the rope loose on her harness as she stayed ahead of it and the risk of falling.

She looked over at Cut to see how he was doing.

All right. Climb the things.

What he lacked in raw power, he usually made up for with excellent coordination or decent ability. Usually. Except climbing? That pretty much required a degree of muscle tissue.

Grasping two handholds, he pulled himself.

Not up.

Just pulled at himself.

He stabbed a leg upward like a drunkard proving they know karate, and got a foot in place. That worked. It wasn't pretty, but at least he was moving now. Totes hoped she didn't notice the first bit. Continue the assault on his claim to a Y chromosome. At least he got the fail out of the way while still on the ground!

"Yeah. Urrrrrgh. Let's... do... it."

Asp had continued to climb as Cut struggled with the whole pulling himself up thing. She looked down at him from up there with a grin, not saying anything, but pausing. And then bam, he was running up the wall. That was better. She continued her steady ascent, spidering her way up the handholds with her strong legs first and then her hands. There was a little bit of a burn starting.

Good.

"Having fun yet?"

Walls were fun.

Was she talking?

He was doing all he could to keep moving. The Zone. Totally. He was in The Zone. You know you're in The Zone when you don't even stop and admire the view.

The Zone wasn't a particularly fun place. Just. Keep. Moving. And. Don't. Fall. Use the brain to help the brawn. He focused on accessible contact points rather than speed, slowly but steadily making his way up.

"Yeah. Totally. Fun. Live. For. Hnnngggh. This."

Girl had issues.

It came as a total surprise as he began inching past her. That was nice, letting him catch up. Come on. You don't have to hold back. Let's see you Do Your Thing.

"That. Urrrrgh. All. You. Got?"

Hornet's nests were for kicking, right?

Asp grinned excitedly as the Guardian got his ass moving up the wall. That was the spirit - was it beginners luck, or was he just fucking with her? Was he actually a skinny ninja? When he taunted her, the Arrow got competitive. She went to throw herself up the wall, aggressively --

-- and one of her footholds slipped. She began to drop, but caught herself with a desperate flail-and-grab, one hand death-gripping a McNugget while the rest of her body dangled.

Fuck.

"Better keep moving," she grunted back, dangling as her one arm stretched and strained under her weight. Arrows never surrendered.

Did she just... growl ... at him? No more kicking the hornet nest.

It was going to suck bad if she kicked his ass up at the top and threw him off.

Plus side? Pretty sure he was closer to the top than bottom.

That's it.

Asp flexed her bicep, tricep and all the other muscles in her arm, propelling herself upward. Her feet found purchase, and she made like a chest-burster, passing Cut as her legs and arms worked in tandem to eat away the distance to the top. She was staring upward, mind processing and body feeling where the next handhold was.

In that instant, the Arrow realized she totally had a competitive streak.

He had the feeling she'd passed him.

Did. Not. Care.

Was he competitive? Sure. There wasn't anyone in the city that could riffle like him. Being competitive about climbing a wall? Nope. So much nope. He plodded along, just making his way to the top.

Truth? He wanted her to win. He'd probably have slowed down if she was losing.

He was totes smarter than pissing off Totally Not A Cabal-mate.
